(Heres the third chapter which I literally just finished, lol. )
Akiva was more than ready for the duel. She could not wait to beat Asil and prove herself again. Instead of waiting for a Council member to contact her for the duel she stayed in the training room where the duel was to take place for several hours. When she heard that Asil was on her way to the training room for the duel she tried to warm up a bit, get her blood flowing. I’ll beat that scrawny brat if it’s the last thing I do, she thought. At last she saw Asil arrive. Asil warmed up a little bit, then took her place on one side of the mat, as Akiva took her position on the opposite side. They bowed to each other, more out of formality than out of true respect. Mace Windu was the referee for the match.
“Three rounds. Each round will continue until one of you is struck with what would be considered a death blow or until one of you surrenders.” He barked out.
He raised a hand, which was holding a flag and dropped it, the signal to begin.
Akiva activated her lightsaber as soon as Mace dropped the flag and charged Asil. Asil barely had time to activate her lightsaber before Akiva was upon her. She was startled as she saw the anger in Akiva’s eyes, just like in the dream. She quickly jumped into the air as Akiva was swinging at her and just barely made it over her lightsaber. Let’s try to end this round quickly, she thought in mid- air, twisting and touching Akiva ever so lightly on the neck with her saber. The crowd cheered for Asil, as a good deal of them were rooting for her to win.
“Round one, Leikane.” Said Mace over the deafening roar of the crowd.
“Round two……… begin.” He said as he dropped the flag once again.
This time Asil decided to surprise Akiva by taking the offensive. She rushed the girl, her blade moving so quickly that it was a blur. Akiva backed up in shock, surprised she was having such difficulty in holding Asil off. Odd, she hardly ever takes the offensive, she thought, getting even angrier. Yes, yes, my anger, of course. All I have to do is use it, that will let me beat her, I’m sure of it. Akiva quickly let her anger take over, feeling the power of the darkside. And the worst thing is she enjoyed it. She enjoyed feeling the rush of dark power. Asil was puzzled, as she saw Akiva’s anger take control and saw how she enjoyed it. Akiva took the offensive, pushing Asil back. Asil barely managed to get her saber in between her and Akiva’s blade in time, barely managing to prolong the round. She tried to surprise Akiva again by making her blade go in unpredictable directions, then she stabbed down with her blade and caught Akiva in the leg, giving her a bad burn. Akiva cried out in pain and rage and kicked Asil hard in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her and sending her to the floor. The crowd gasped, surprised at the aggressiveness of the girl. She quickly touched Asil on the neck with her saber, before the poor girl could recover. Yes!, she thought. All I have to do is win the next round and she’s beaten.
“Round two, Blackmoor.” Mace announced as the crowd booed. They were surprised how dirty Akiva was fighting, it was very un-Jedi like and it displeased them.
Asil struggled to her feet, still sore from the kick that Akiva had delivered, as well as the crash to the floor.
As soon as Asil was on her feet and appeared steady Mace spoke again.
“Final round. Begin. “
Asil calmed her mind and tried to let the Force in, to let it flow through her like it did in the dream. As the Force began flowing through her she felt so calm, so perfect. Time seemed to slow down and it didn’t seem difficult at all to dodge Akiva as she ran at her full speed. She was surprised how easy it all seemed. I’ve never felt the Force like this before, she thought excitedly as she parried Akiva’s strikes easily. Even if I don’t win and get the assignment, just feeling the Force like this is worth it. She and Akiva’s blades were really moving now, they were going extremely fast. Akiva struck out and kicked Asil yet again, this time in the lip. Asil used the momentum from the kick to do a backflip and wiped the blood from her lip as she landed. She quickly Force-pushed Akiva back, just to get a chance to catch her breath.
“Ready to give up yet?” Akiva taunted.
“Not a chance.” Asil answered calmly, even with a slight smile on her face.
Once again, their sabers began to clash, Asil going on the defensive again. I’ll let Akiva take control or at least let her think she’s in control anyway, she thought.I’ll just bide my time until I see a opening. Akiva appeared to get cockier as she thought she had control once again. I’ve got her, Akiva thought happily. She’s tiring, it won’t be long now until I have her beaten.
NOW!, Asil thought.
Suddenly Asil dove between Akiva’s legs, rolling on the floor until she was a few feet away from her and suddenly jumped up and tapped Akiva on the neck with her lightsaber before Akiva even realized what was happening.
Yes, Asil thought. I did it!
“Round three, Leikane. The overall victor is Asil Leikane.” Mace announced as the crowd cheered. Akiva just stood there, shocked and angry that she had actually lost.
Master Yoda smiled from where he was standing. “Right you were.” He said, turning to Mace.
“The correct choice, Asil was.”
“Thank you Master but we shall see about that when she attempts to complete the assignment.” Mace replied.
“Have a feeling I do, that succeed she will.” Said Yoda, still smiling.
