60's? Roosevelt flipped it. Remember the New Deal? I didn't mention him since he didn't win the war (although he would have if he'd lived a bit longer).

I actually think the Reagan incident (switching parties) was the iconic point of ideal-flipping.

But yes, FDR was a socialist who bankrupted us even further in the Depression.

At first I thought you were going to say Reagan ended WWII. Laughing

God dammit you ware the 'socialist' name out.

Oh, and Germany will not be in the first nor the second book. I have yet to post the second book's story frame.

Actually there were many elements of what Roosevelt did with the New Deal that can be compared to the Fascist nations of Italy and Germany at the time.

Did you have to add the word 'fascist' in there? You make it sound like Roosevelt was evil.

Roosevelt was a socialist (it put us further into debt). He was a liberal socialist, actually, which isn't functional.

Hitler, however, was a far-right socialist (NAZI=National Socialist German Worker's Party), which, surprisingly, worked, but it's arguable that such a system was only successful because of its militaristic aims.

WWII saved the world economy, not socialism.

Of course, warfare itself is just as bad (from a "taxes and tax-related projects are bad" point of view). We dumped exponential government money into soldiers and warfare devices.

So Roosevelt's social systems delayed the depression from getting worse (although it didn't end it - it did improve conditions. At least temporarily) and then greater degrees of socialized military spending was what was needed to actually let the nation recover.

Considering my Extension History project I chose is on the topic of the New Deal as it was perceived by historians over time, I'd consider myself somewhat knowledgable on the subject... even though I only started this week. Razz

The supplies for troops, however, was manufactured by private industries (the need for capitalism saved the day).

.... It's not private industry if it's being funded by tax dollars.
