Lord Invictus Grand Inquisitor Joined: 12 Oct 2007 Posts: 3757 Location: Formerly Lord Mortalis I actually think the Reagan incident (switching parties) was the iconic point of ideal-flipping. But yes, FDR was a socialist who bankrupted us even further in the Depression. _________________

He was a liberal socialist, actually, which isn't functional. Hitler, however, was a far-right socialist (NAZI=National Socialist German Worker's Party), which, surprisingly, worked, but it's arguable that such a system was only successful because of its militaristic aims. WWII saved the world economy, not socialism. _________________

We dumped exponential government money into soldiers and warfare devices. So Roosevelt's social systems delayed the depression from getting worse (although it didn't end it - it did improve conditions. At least temporarily) and then greater degrees of socialized military spending was what was needed to actually let the nation recover. _________________ Sergeant Frog: Because (no matter how much I deny it) Invader Zim isn't coming back
