ONE SHOT
By Karea

“I remember…” She began and then trailed off, looking grim with her nose turned down. Her lips were drawn in a grim line with an expression on her face that screamed dismay.

“I remember well what you taught me, but I’ve learned better than that.” Blue eyes flashed with sudden fury, taking the dark hooded figure standing across from her no more than a simple movement to side step the blast of energy she shot his way, meaning to send him flying. The woman was useless against him. So useless when she tried to fight away the inevitable.

That’s what he thought; until she suddenly appeared in front of him, her hands already around his neck by the time he realized that she had gotten stronger. What had happened to her? The man growled in disdain as she slammed him across the room, using every ounce of strength she could muster up in her small, well built body. He slammed into the wall, quickly recomposing himself. She had already made her move, standing now in front of him snarling in his hooded face.

“I changed for you. Now we can be together in harmony, isn’t that what you always wanted?” She sneered, anger strewn across her beautiful pale face while her red eyes dance with mischief at the mere thought that she had won over him.

“No. That’s not what I wanted.” He mumbled, guilt rising in his throat. What had he done to her? What had he done to himself? He’d screwed it all up now and he hadn’t meant to. He wanted to bring her back over to the light but the darkness that consumer her still seemed to great.

“What?! I change and come over to the Dark side and you’re still dissatisfied with me! You never change Leon! Still the same jackass who can’t decide what’s good enough!” She reeled him back, and slammed him into the wall, using the Force to support the thrust and do as much damage as she possibly could to him for all he’d done to her.

“Raina…” He muttered, leaning over and keeping himself in as much balance as he could. He realized suddenly that she had found a Master. Someone was teaching her the ways of the Dark Side, and she was learning it fast, and it was going to be a struggle.

    Could he change her now?

“No….” She growled in an unnerving sort of hate, “I want to watch you die.” Her hands came up, jerking Leon’s hood down from his face as her free hand came up to choke him with all of the power of anger and the force.

Raina looked into his face, into Leon’s eyes, and he, back into hers. She saw his soul, painted with the light of the Jedi and it shocked her so much she dropped him and stepped away from him. Leon coughed and gathered his breath up, staring at her with collected eyes. Eyes of the Jedi, one of the light now. He’d crossed over a while ago and he’d been looking for her, hoping that she hadn’t fallen the way he had. Hoped that she hadn’t joined the Sith Order. A part of him knew that she had, that she would do anything for him. The Order had changed her, made her thirst for blood. Turned her against him.

“I changed….why did you become one of the Sith?” He demanded, standing so that his defiance was clear on his face. She couldn’t escape his eyes, it was impossible.

“To gain power! What else!?” She snarled, clenching her fists in a tight ball as was bit off of every word she uttered.

“No. What was the original reason, Raina.” Leon demanded, moving closer to her with confidence he shouldn’t, as a member of the Jedi Order, been able to have.

“To find power and to kill.” She stepped back on instinct, moving away from the approaching Jedi as if a dieses she would undoubtedly catch if she touched him or came close to him again.

“No, Raina.” He continued to her and she stepped back, her face becoming perplexed and disarrayed.

“It was!” She defend, growing tired of this game of cat and mouse. Yet as he approached her, she continued to back herself into a wall, unable to stop the way she reacted to him.

“What was the reason, Raina. The first reason.” He kept coming, until he had her backed against a wall where she couldn’t escape the question, couldn’t escape from herself, and couldn’t escape from him.

He pinned her there. He placed both his hands on either side of her face, close enough that their noses were almost touching. Raina turned her head, wanting to do anything in the world that would keep Leon from looking at her with those eyes. They drowned her. Leon’s hand came up and caught her face between his finger and thumb, forcing Raina to face him. She screwed her eyes shut, not wanting to see him. Her face had gone from rage to sudden helplessness, to desperation, all in a matter of seconds. All because of him. She was a Sith now, she reminded herself. But Raina couldn’t force herself to look at him, because if he looked into her eyes, she would falter in her training.

Leon was having none of that.

“Look at me Raina!” He pushed himself closer so that he was pressed against her, keeping her body pinned to the cold wall with his own. Raina flinched and against her will and better judgement, she opened her eyes, trying to look angry and defiant.

    She couldn’t do it.

His blue eyes burned into her own red ones, passion and soul dancing right out there for her to see. She gulped, weakly trying to struggle against him, to get him off of her. She knew and Leon knew that Raina was allowing him to do this to her. She was allowing him the chance to be so close to her. She tried to think of something that would give her the strength to push him away, throw him off her, hurt him. Her mind screamed at her to kill him, she was a Sith he was a Jedi! They were the greatest enemies in the Galaxy and nothing would ever be able to change that. And still she couldn’t manage to reach her arms down, grab her light saber, and do away with him. It would have been easy, and he was letting her choose life or death for himself. Leon was letting her choose.

And she just couldn’t do it.

Raina lowered her eyes to the ground, relaxing completely against Leon who held her pinned against the wall a little more loosely then he had when he first attacked her.

“What was the reason?” He demanded once again, and she looked up at him, tears welling in her eyes which Leon had not been prepared for.

“It was to find you!” She screamed. Leon watched her patiently and more tears spilled over the edge of her cheeks. “It was to find you so I could do this!” Her hand reeled back, and she slapped Leon so hard that his head jutted to the side at the impact of her hand. He was startled by this, and whirled around to look her in the eyes once more. What was he to say to her?

They stood in silence for a moment, as the rage and tears drained away together from Raina’s pale born face and it was replaced with a certain serenity which turned her red eyes into a soft, tinted purple. No movement was made, not to attack each other or to give up. Silence pressed itself and weighed around them darkly, a snake in the force of miss conception. Both Leon and Raina relaxed for a good while, staring at the other with an intensity that might otherwise be considered impossible, but they managed it.

“Are you done?” Leon asked her quietly, his eyes softened and she closed hers.

Raina took in a deep breath, holding it for a drawn out second, and then let it go.

“Yeah, I’m done.” She slide her arms around his waist, pulling her body into his as close as she could get.

Leon wrapped his arms around her shoulders, spinning her around so that he could lean up against the wall while keeping her snuggled tightly in his embrace. He slid down the wall, Raina still in his arms as he breathed in her scent. She curled up silently in his lap, letting go of the times that they had been separated. Glad to have him back as her own. He began running his fingers through her long blonde hair and she snuggled into his neck, breathing in his essence as she mumbled about how much hell he had put her through.

“I know, I know.” Leon muttered, kissing her forehead while rocking her.

“I’m Sith now. What are we going to do? I’ve been ordered to kill you by my master.” Raina whispered.

“I’ve been ordered to stop you.” Leon thought about it. What could they do honestly? But then again, he already knew.

“Join the Jedi.” He stated calmly.

Raina’s head jerked up to stare at him like he had lost his mind. “You’re crazy. I can’t join the Jedi! They’d kill me on sight! Isn’t it against the Jedi rules anyway to be emotionally attached to anyone? Or something like that?” Leon sighed.

“You know what? Lets worry about it later.” Raina relaxed.

“Yeah, forget it. Later.” She laid back down, curled up quietly on his chest.

“Can I ask you a question?” Leon ventured his luck with her.

“If you want.” Raina reached up, playing with the strands of Leon’s hair while watching his face for reactions.

“Why didn’t you tell me you loved me before?”

Raina thought on it, and realized instantly the reason as to why she couldn’t tell him.

“Because you wouldn’t have accepted it. You’d have dismissed it off, or worse, rejected me altogether. I couldn’t tell you. But I decided I didn’t care if you felt that way or not, you acted like you did enough that I need to give it a shot. By the time I realized that, you’d already vanished from me.” Leon accepted her answer, hugging her tighter.

    “You know what Raina?”

    “What?”

    “ I love you too.”

Raina paused, looking up at him with hopeful distant eyes.

    “Really?”

    “Really.”

“Good because if you didn’t you know that I’d have to kill you.” Raina joked, leaning closer to Leon and smiling at him all the same.
“I’d kill you first.” Raina smirked at him and ducked just before he got the chance to kiss her.

“Would not. We’d tie.” Raina laughed.

“Fine. Tie.” Leon muttered, smiling down at the girl in his arms.

    “You know what Leon?”

    “What?”

“I want to be a Jedi.”

    Leon’s last thought. Score.

I didn't know if the story was done, so I didn't comment. Very emotional. I'm looking forward to see where this fits in with everything else. Funny ending as well.
