Einstein once said, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Think about that bombshell, sonny.

He also said:
"Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish."

"If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed."

"All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree."

You can probably tell why I like him. Very Happy

Fundamentalist Christianity:
The belief that something with infinite power came from nothing and then created everything over the course of seven days. Then created fossils and made everything look much older than it actually was in order to test people's faith. That was 6000 years ago.

Just reinforcing Splinter's comment - which I agree with.

We don't believe that God made everything look a lot older than it really is, but I tend to avoid these debates because the person who believes in evolution defeats me and then I try those arguments on a fundamentalist and they defeat those arguments. I lose anytime I get in one of the debates with anyone regarding the science part.

Evangelical Christianity: God was here from the beginning and he, over the course of seven days, created everything on Earth... which is 2.5 thousand years old.

Catholicism/Some Christianity: God was here from the beginning and created everything... over the course of billions if not trillions of years in various scientific processes and, in scientific laws of the universe, he is still creating.

If you mean that we believe the Earth is currently 2.5 thousand years, in my church it was said that the Earth is about 10,000 years old if I remember correctly. The time between creation and the world flood was at least 2,000 years. But I think that it was more.

My own favorite is this one. Since it mostly mirrors my own mindset.

I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one. You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist whose fervor is mostly due to a painful act of liberation from the fetters of religious indoctrination received in youth. I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being.

Meaning?
Belief that there is a God (Theism) and belief that there is no God (Atheism) are equally strange things to hold. They're both based on equally imperfect knowledge.

I won't be interested in asking questions, just relaxing in Heaven.  Smile

Within reason.

I can lift up two planks of wood and tell which is heavier.
I can apply equal pressure to those two pieces of wood and determine which is harder to break.
I can measure the rate of decay of Carbon-14 and use that to extrapolate the age of the wood.

Exactly. That's higher powers working in mysterious ways for you.
If you hadn't have had so much hate for Biden - you woudn't have killed McCain. Thus teaching you "love your enemies".

This is religion 101!

It's also why Firefly was canceled after 11 episodes. I tried so hard to kill Dawson's Creek that it also killed Firefly
