Preorder your tickets to the G3 Summit!

I don't care what your viewpoint is, Colbert owned that guy.  Razz

I find that stupid. I hate that the right-wingers in America are criticising Obama for showing some level of humility. It's the one thing I think America has been lackign for a long time.

"Oh yes, we won WW1 and WW2 so suck it bitches"

"Didn't you then lose the Vietnam War, and are losing the Iraq War through the arrogance you've assumed after those wars?"

"Erm..."

Knowing them both, it was no doubt they were sarcastic.

Anywho, I saw Sean Hannity ranting about it and I wanted to stragle the tiny man. I miss Alan Colmes. He was the only liberal voice on Fox News.  Sad

Colbert only made one joke - and they did the same joke on The Daily Show about it (amongst others), but Colbert executed it better.

At the end of the Threat Down.

I agree with them. I actually understood the media uproar about the whole DVD thing. It was silly, but it was an example of Obama not having any real diplomatic experience until now.
But a 1.5 second bow between foreign leaders? Please.
Coverage? Sure. The same way that Bush kneeling to the Pope deserved coverage. But this type of coverage (Fox News: "It showed that Obama considers Islam superior to all religions and nations in the world") is just ridiculous. Thank goodness my only exposure to 24 hour news networks these days is via Stewart and Colbert making fun of them Razz

It's a shame Hulu.com doesn't have worldwide rights. They upload all the episodes there the day after they air (actually, normally within 4 hours since its a late-night show). That's basically the only place I watch them now.

I get racist abuse when I try to watch it online (the Colbert Report).

I get the Daily Show on More4, but I don't really watch it. At 20.30 I'm either gaming or on the PC.

Oh, and

Really? You can't think of anything else the US has been lacking other than humility? Rolling Eyes Wink

But I'm talking 60 odd years, not the last 8. Wink

One (60+ years) is a systematic history of overly proud American refusal to acknowledge other cultural traditions - the other would be just for George Bushes' term (which, it is implied, where most of the other things Korus feels that America is lacking originate from).

Post explained/ruined.

Well from your post I took that you thought there was a lot wrong with America now, which I don't deny, but I think largely stem from the last 8 years or so. Whereas the only point in common over the last 60 years I believe is the belief by Americans that the fact they won WW1 and WW2 for the world makes them invincible and that they can do whatever they want.

While that's not untrue, I'd go back even further than that. Most of the complaints I'm hearing here over this are "Americans bow to no one! Why do you think we fought the Revolutionary War and don't have a King?!"

Which is actually somewhat fair, in my opinion (but that is an American-biased opinion I suppose). However, instead of just complaining about Obama bowing (and not complaining about Bush holding hands and kissing), I'd suggest those people go do something useful for their perspective and buy some solar cells or wind turbines to help increase Americas energy independence - so kowtowing to Saudi Arabia becomes less necessary in the first place.

I don't know about Australia, but it's called Comedy Central over here.

Have you tried going onto comedycentral.com, then going to Colbert Nation or the Daily Show?
