Xander Vos Sith Emperor Joined: 08 Jan 2006 Posts: 19752 Location: The Sith Temple Anyone know how to turn a n00b into a pro at DotA? I'm getting alright at it using the theory practice makes perfect - constantly vsing AIs. I'm only actually good with Zeus though... and sometimes that fire chick. Any easy to learn and implement tips to get better? As a quick rundown of how good I am with Zeus... I usually aim to get Dagon quickly, so start with Blades of Attack, buy an empty bottle when I can, then the staff, then get Dagon. I then farm creeps until I can buy the Mystical Staff (?) and upgrade that with the Energy Booster things so I get epic mana. I usually end up with about 4 or 5 kills. I play with an Insane and three Normals on my team vs Two insanes and three normals and can generally win, though I often die about 10 times. And that's JUST with Zeus. I'm like, epic fail with every other character. _________________ Time to start again.

I love Dota, I (usually) hate Dota players.  They are the most antisocial community I have met since the Left 4 Dead community (I have horrid memories of L4D players). _________________

I mainly play with AIs now to hone my skill, but I should probably try online at some point again. _________________ Time to start again.

Oh dear, just tried using Battlenet to see how I'd go and it had to download an update. I tried playing and it kept sending me back to the main menu so I decided just to play against AIs, and now it won't work... as in, I'll select the DotA AI map and the options for selecting teams won't come up. _________________ Time to start again.

Any help? It's difficult to say without actually seeing your screen and walking through it. You could try downloading other versions of DotA to see if they have better AI support. Worst case scenario, I suppose you could reinstall from CD (backing up your DotA map that worked before) and not log on Battlenet if it is indeed the patch that messed up the AI-possible settings somehow. _________________ May The Force Be With Us, Always
