( Alright, heres the first chapter of my fan fic, please don't be too harsh, this is only my second attempt at this.)
Asil Leikane was tired and needed rest. It had been a hard day of Jedi training. She wiped the sweat off her forehead with her sleeve. She had just finished a sparring match with Akiva Blackmoor, a fellow padawan. It had been a tough match, lasting a long time but at last Asil had finally been able to end it by managing to touch Akiva lightly on the neck with her training saber. I’m so glad its over now, she thought. She almost had me but the Force showed me where to strike just in time. She had indeed won, but at a price. She was now battered and bruised, with a small cut on her lip where she had bitten it during a saber lock. In her mind it would all be worth it in the end though, she thought it would make her a better, tougher Jedi. She headed to her quarters to get some rest, thinking about the duel and how she could improve as she walked. She was unique girl, she was very gifted in the Force and combat but also was a very hard worker and tried to make the most of her talent. That impressed the masters more than anything else.

Akiva and Asil were very closely matched in skill, their matches were always very intense and no one ever knew who would be the victor, not even Master Yoda. They both had great potential, the masters were already studying them, trying to see if they would make good padawans though they were still too young to be chosen. They were only nine years old and it was still early in their training but they showed great promise and were more skilled than some of the older padawans. But, Asil had a unique gift that was very rare, in fact, only one of jedi was known to have this particular gift. It was the shatterpoint ability, the ability to see just where to strike a situation, object, or being to make them crack. It was a useful gift, but a shatterpoint could be gone in a instant so to make best use of the ability one had to strike quickly, before the shatterpoint disappeared. It was having this ability that gave Asil the nickname Shatterpoint, which she was more commonly known by.

Akiva Blackmoor was quite the talented girl. She was proficient in many areas of Jedi training, but she was best at lightsaber combat. Many admired her skill but she did have one major flaw: she had very little patience and had a fiery temper, leading her to have some conflicts with other padawans. This exasperated the masters to no end, they thought someone as gifted as her might have more patience and more control over her temper than she did. But, they thought, she is still quite young, patience and restraint will come in time. Little did they know that in the end that would be her downfall.

As Asil got ready for bed that night she began thinking. Will I make a good Jedi knight? Will I even become a Jedi knight? Will anyone even want to take me as a padawan? She did not realize how immense her talent was, that Masters were already talking about her. All she wanted in life was to be a great Jedi knight, to live a fulfilling life of service. She was at the top of all her classes, even though she was not naturally gifted at all the things she was taught at the Temple. She was not a particularly amazing talent in hand- to – hand combat but she trained and trained until she could defeat even the boys that were being considered for padawans, despite her young age and slight build. I’d better get to bed, don’t want to oversleep for my morning classes, Yoda can be awfully crabby when someone is late for class, she thought. With that, she finally laid down to sleep.

Akiva also was preparing for bed. How did I manage to lose to Asil again, she thought angrily. This is the third time in a row she has defeated me. I have to win the next time we duel, I just have to. She threw her lightsaber down onto her bed and sighed. She rubbed her eyes sleepily. I’m just tired, that’s all. I’ll beat her next time, I know I can. She grabbed a hair band and pulled her long, silky dark hair back. I better rest, I need to do better tomorrow. I’ll do whatever I have to do to win. I have to prove I’m better than her once and for all. The angry young girl laid down to sleep, thinking about how she could defeat Asil the next time they dueled.

“ Master, whom shall we give this assignment to?” asked Saesee Tiin.
“Asil Leikane or Akiva Blackmoor perhaps.” Answered Yoda.
“But Master, but I sense much anger in young Akiva Blackmoor.” Mace Windu protested.
The Jedi Council was meeting, regarding a assignment Yoda wished to give to a talented young padawan. The Council was not sure who they should give this assignment to, there was two very impressive candidates to choose from. Not all of the Council was present, only Saesee Tiin, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Yaddle.
“ Asil ,I think we should choose.” Said Yaddle quietly.
“I agree.” Mace said, nodding his head.
“But give young Akiva a chance to prove her quality we should.” Protested Yoda.
“Master, she has already proven she cannot control her anger, unlike Asil, who controls her temper quite well.” Saesee Tiin pointed out calmly.
“Saesee is right.” Said Mace. “Akiva has had several problems with other padawans and she provoked all of them. I don’t see why she should be given this assignment, I find Asil to be a much more suitable choice.”
Yoda sighed. “A idea I have. Have a contest we should, to see which padawan should be given this assignment. A training saber duel perhaps. Three rounds, it could be.”
“A good idea, that is.” Said Yaddle. “That way, earn it one of them can.”
“I agree.” Nodded Saesee.
“Then it is decided.” Said Mace. “The duel will take place tomorrow afternoon. We can inform them of this in the morning.” He sighed.
“May the Force be with us all.”
