Lil Wayne - Mr. Carter!
Artist: Lil Wayne
Album: Da Carter 3
I'm actually a huge Lil Wayne hater, I hate his swagger, attitude, work ethic (or lack thereof,) the fact that he dated Lauren London, and just most of the things about him. However, this song is awesome. Its just a great song to...chill to. This is a relatively calm song, for Wayne's standards, which is why its a good song to chill out to. It also has funny and great analogies (highlighted in the space below). The lyrics are out there, but fit Weezy's style perfectly. It has a smooth beat...just a solid song.
Verse to look out for:
| Quote: | Man I got SUMMER hating on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun
SPRING is hatin on me cuz I ain't never sprung
WINTER hatin on me cuz I'm colder than ya'll
And I would never, I would never, I would never FALL |

I think we're reading it simply because it lights up and we're just naturally curious. We're not reading it because we care.

Lupe Fiasco - The Instrumental
If you didn't know, Lupe is probably my favorite rapper of all time. And this song is just one of the fine examples of why he's my favorite. Lupe is so...versatile. He can rap about anything, flow with any beat, and is actually a decent kid. This song, The Instrumental, is really chill. Its got a solid beat that flows well, and has deep lyrics. Lupe is known for his use of metaphors and analogies in his rap, as well as hidden meaning that may not be obvious at first, but if you look in deep, you can see. I think its obvious that the "boxes" in this song refers to the TV and how easily the media can 'brainwash' people through Television. This is a great song, and I know not many of you like rap, but this is the one song I think anybody can enjoy. So please, check out the link below and give it a listen! Tell me what you think!

NaS - The World Is Yours
'The World Is Yours' is a song off the album 'Illmatic' by NaS. NaS is definitely by second favorite rapper behind Lupe. While NaS doesn't normally have great beats or flow, he's likely one of the best lyricist Rap has ever seen. 'The World is Yours' is a relatively old rap song, so it reminds me of grade school. This song was hot back then, and I loved it. Illmatic was arguably NaS' best album, so this song likely refers to how he was "Taking over rap, taking over the world." with the album. It's a sick song, check it out! Link below....

Tupac - California Love
You know, I'm actually not a Tupac fan. Never have been, and probably never will. He was a little like NaS, great lyricist; but didn't have good beats, imo. So...this is going to be one of two songs from Tupac you'll see on this list. This was a very chill song back in the day. When your with a girl, or just riding it out with the homies, this is the song you roll with. It's smooth...an adjective that's rarely associated with 2pac. All in all, good song, solid beat, and just a great thing to relax to. Give it a listen!

NWA - Straight Outta' Compton
I love NWA. Ice Cube is legit, Eazy-E was hilarious, and Dre made great beats. Straight Outta Compton fueled Gangster Rap for the first time, and gave an introduction to West Coast Rap. This is a good song, especially when you and your homies are riding in the car.
| Quote: | So give it up smooth
Ain't no tellin when I'm down for a jack move
Here's a murder rap to keep yo dancin
With a murder record like Charles Manson |

Talib Kweli - Get By
Talib Kweli...where to even start. He's definitely a champ, and one of my favorite rappers. Talib has some of the best beats in Rap right now, and this song is some of his best work. Lyrically, it's very good. But the beat is the real highlight, check it out, it's great. This song kind of pumps me up...emotionally speaking. Great song.
| Quote: | We sell, crack to our own out the back of our homes
We smell the musk at the dusk in the crack of the dawn
We go through "Episodes II," like "Attack of the Clones"
Work 'til we break our back and you hear the crack of the bone
To get by.. just to get by
Just to get by, just to get by |

Like THe DK Rap, it is generally known to be greater than all other rap songs, so probably removed from this list for fairness.

Lupe Fiasco - Hip Hop Saved My Life
As I've previously stated, Lupe Fiasco is one of my favorite rappers of all time. His chill, his hidden meanings and metaphors, and the way he uses those who he produces music with respective talents. I think Hip Hop Saved My Life is one of Lupe's greatest creations. When Lupe was still underground, he was quietly producing music in Chicago. He didn't have much cash and was just trying to make a living for himself. He succeeded in his endeavor, and hasn't let up since. The thing I love about Lupe is that he stays true to himself. While guys like Wayne dish out garbage albums and get money without any respect for the music they dish out, Lupe produces great music and earns his cash, big difference there.
Although you may not like Rap, you have to respect Lupe and what he's brought to the game. "Hip Hop Saved My Life" is a true song for Lupe. Because Hip Hop really did give him the blessing he has now. And being so down to earth, Lupe realizes this, and he crafts this song with the intention of almost...."thanking" Hip Hop/rap for what it's done for him. In this song, you'll find a chill beat and Lupe's own little tale of his journey through Hip Hop. I hope you enjoy it!
Lyrics to look for:
| Quote: | Cryin' from the next room, a baby in need
Of some pampers and food and a place to sleep
That, plus a black Cadillac on D's
Is what keep him on track to be a great emcee, yea |

I saw this thread and nearly face palmed.. but credit to Yoda as another lover of rap. I'm curious to see if Yoda will continue his list now that there's posts. I also want to see if he puts The Real Slim Shady on the list because it was such a huge thing that changed rap and showed the difference between the generations and separated rap fans into two different categories of traditional and crazy. Lulz Is Yoda still even posting? =o
Dun forget the Ruff Ryders Anthem! I also wanna see CNN on the list =p Dre(I guess NWA can count =p), Mobb, Biggie...and many more!
one of the most surprising things I should note is that over the years on all the Rap lists I've read theres never been many to put 50cent on it. Shocking considering the record breaking type sells his albums make.
