Windows Vista Business 32 bitSo, my stepdad works at a state university. Last year they gave him a laptop with vista business 32 bit. So, I was wondering, If i install it on my pc(I have the vista disks), would it be good? Could there be any possible repercussions?(sp?)
Or can I do this and it's all good?
Answers would be appreciated quickly so that I can go back to being active.

Nothing is really wrong with it, but if you have XP there is no real point in upgrading your PC to run it.

The version of xp is so old that I can't configure my wireless with it.

If he already used the copy's registration key for the laptop and is still using it - it could cause problems if you install it on yours as well. Vista has stronger copy-protection than XP.

The disk case is unopened.

You should also be aware that Vista needs 2 gigabytes of memory to run reliably.

Doesn't it wipe everything when you install it?

It shouldn't, but I am going to assume because you can't run XP well you won't run Vista at all

If you install a new operating system, you have to manually wipe the old one, which leads to lots of glitches. Move your stuff to an external hard-drive and get the cross-system transfer software so you can move it back without it glitching.
