From Dracula to Twilight, vampire lore has changed quite a bit.
Which movie/book do you think accurately portrays the vampires? Or which kind of vampires did you enjoy the most? I know it's a myth, but still, come on! Vampires sparkling in sunlight?!
Mine would be a close call between The Lost Boys and Near Dark, as they were the very first vampire movies I understood. Ever since then, I've always associated vampires with biker music.
Besides, I like biker vampires. There's an air of badassness that revolves around it.
Rive Caedo
I rather enjoy Buffy the Vampire slayer's take on it. The vampire having some degree of control and a shadow of their former personality - but still being driven towards evil. Even so, they're able to adapt to the time period they're in and not driven towards creating some quasi-culture of specialness (ala Twilight, I believe).
Plus they kept the standard restrictions: No direct sunlight, stakes through the heart kill.
... I can't recall if they used the garlic restriction or not. They did use the "holy objects" restriction though.
Adenn
You always seem to have a picture for everything.
I always thought Blade was a bit better than Buffy, though that could be due to me only seeing half of a Buffy movie (got scared when I was a kid, played Pokemon in my room instead.)
The Werewolf age is coming soon I bet.

Well there was only one Buffy movie and it was completely different from the TV series and no one particularly liked it AND it didn't make much money. I never saw it, actually.
I still don't know how they managed to get it turned into a TV series after the movie failed, but I am glad they did
The only episode of Buffy I can recall having a genuine scare factor is Hush because the bad guys were "11" on a creepy scale from 1 to 10
Adenn
Ahhh, that's most likely why. I've had a bad habit of not watching shows unless I've been at the start, because most of the time I don't know what the frak is going on. >_>
Rive Caedo
Yeah, I actually watched Buffy via The Chosen complete series set being loaned to me. It's definitely a series that's better to watch from the start.
Sirak Sazen
My favorites were always the ones from 30 Days of Night. In the words of my dad: "Those guys would tear Edward Cullen a new a**hole".
Dakoth
Any modern vampire stuff is utter garbage and I cannot stand it. There, I said it.
Rive Caedo
What are we defining as "modern"?

Have you seen 30 Days of Night?

Twilight, "Vampire's assistiant"
If you aren't in a castle in trannsylvania, sleeping in a coffin, and in possesion of at least one title of nobility, explode in sunlight, and can turn into a bat, you're not a vampire.
Sirak Sazen
I'm pretty sure Ann Coulter fits that description.
Darth Samuel
The Cirque Du Freak books were sorta okay...

Women cant be vampires! Only manly, manly, counts and dukes!
Adenn
I enjoyed the Cirque Du Freak books, can't say the same about the movie.
Though I forgot the books were about vampires when I reached book 8...
Lord Embeion
My Mom freaks for Queen of the Damned. SHe watches pretty much anything Vampire. IDK shes wired. Anyway Blade kicks butt
oh and Embrace Of The Vampire was pretty cool to
Adenn
Embrace Of The Vampire looks pretty...interesting.
Lord Embeion
I wouldn't recommended googling it if your under 18 =p
Adenn
My innocence has been butchered into pieces and burnt to ash in front of me. D:
Lord Embeion
oh shut up you live in Pennsylvania. You were born with no innocence
Sirak Sazen
Adenn is from Pennsylvania? I suppose you're right. We're a little backwards state named after a tree.
Lord Embeion
Shrug I have no idea. I always confuse you and Adenn
Adenn
We aren't that alike, are we?
Lord Embeion
IDK. Something just makes me mix you guys up

^ This.
Oh and 30 Days of Night vampires are the only ones I like.
I googled vampires but I saw a bunch of metrosexual losers with bad acting skills, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
Devrin
PWNED.

Gooooooo Scioooonnnnn!

Just finished I Am Legend (the book). It makes the idea of vampirism almost realistic.
Anakin
^ Hows the book? Probably way different from the movie, amirite?
Sirak Sazen
Great book. It really delves into Robert Neville's psychology than being an action book. The title, Robert Neville's name, and the basic theme of being the last man on Earth are the only things they have in common. I prefer the book.
Rive Caedo
I vaaaaaaaastly prefer the ending to the book version of I Am Legend. For the life of me I can't understand why they change it to such a generic Hollywood ending every time its been adapted into a film - the ending is the coolest and most unique part of the story!
Anakin
I think if I read it, im going to keep picturing Will Smith running around.
Sirak Sazen
I did at first to. They don't really describe him that much, other than he has blonde hair and is (presumably) white.
Kenthar Larrisis
This is all i have to say about vampires.
Devrin
LMFAO!
Lord Embeion
I usually use this to override the faggetyness of todays Vampires
Adenn
Totally not gheyness.

Spoiler:
I can't technically post the Playboy images.
Edward Cullen was never in Playboy.

Anakin
Blood Rayne would be hot if she wasnt like 150 years old.
Sirak Sazen
She doesn't look 150 years old.
Rive Caedo
It remains awkward when she says "Haha, remember when President Cleveland said... Oh. Right. You don't."
Anakin wrote:

Well that has no real bearing on the story, I just wish they would have let him (or Heston) film the real ending!
Lord Embeion
Anyone else been seeing this commercial?
looks quite lulz which automatically make it a better vampire movie then Twilight
Sirak Sazen
I saw that too. Reminds me of Zombieland, which starred the lady from Twilight.
Lord Embeion
wait what stared the chick from Twilight? def wasn't Zombieland.
Sirak Sazen
Gah, nevermind. I'm thinking of Adventureland.
Lord Embeion
Lol she plays a good pale emo
Rive Caedo
Spoilered for mild, but non-family friendly language
Spoiler:
It's a shame Return of the Jedi wasn't indisputably the best Star Wars movie. Then Star Wars movies would have a constant upslope in quality as you go along chronologically
Sirak Sazen
Is Rotten Tomatoes seriously suggesting that The Half-Blood Prince was a better movie than Return of the Jedi?
Anakin
Why would the ROTS cause just a drop?
Xander Vos
ROTJ you mean, and yeah, what was wrong with it? I actually liked it the best of the originals.
Anakin
Were still in the fresh though!

The major trouble was the Ewoks. Critics liked Jawas, they didn't like Teddy Bears
And there is an admiral for the Alliance who looks like the missing link between Tyrannosaurus Rex and Charles De Gaulle.

I have an answer. Because you're under the Equator and water goes down your drains in reverse, charts are to be read backwards by your people.
Which would also mean that Twilight is scientifically a superior series.
Oh dear.

Quote:
If the Twilight series is more than some bull**** preteen badboy fantasy made real in book form, so as to stimulate the horny imaginations of pale lonely vampire wannabe preteens, please let me know. Vampires are undead creatures who symbolize the power of night and the underworld. Their very creation symbolized the fear of the night and their unrelenting bloodlust. Vampires don't run around having sex with sad little emo girls. As for the werewolves, I thought even that horrible woman Stephanie Meyer could keep something sacred. Werewolves are not meant to be big angry puppies. They are damned souls, much like vampires, and when transformed are in a mindless beastlike rage who hunger only for flesh and blood. Stephanie Meyer has done the world great evil by taking some of the most satanic bad butt monstrosities in the world and making them into teenage girl **** (gRape) fantasies.
-as stated from Gueli's and Kavyan's combined Twilight thesis.
Adenn
I'd actually like to believe that vampires/werewolves have a certain control that they have to exercise to maintain their blood lust at bay, but only to a certain extent.
Sirak Sazen
No. That would suck. All vampires should be like 30 Days of Night. All werewolves should be like Underworld.
Adenn
Don't the werewolves in Underworld have the ability to transform at will?
And no, vampires should be like Dracula. In control of blood lust to look normal, and a sadistic frak.
Rive Caedo
All vampires should be like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and enjoy blood chilled in a fridge
Oh, and be written by Joss Whedon.
Anyway, I've actually been somewhat fascinated by the story going on behind the scenes. There's some pretty interesting stuff going on within the LDS/Mormon community due to Stephanie Meyer.
Lord Embeion
Dracula was suppose to be unite in the sense that no other Vampire was quite like him. Werewolves should be mindless beasts as there always portrayed as. Otherwise they'd just be Wookiees
I always think of Vampires being the smart ones and Werewolves being the strong ones.
Adenn
Well, I'm seeing vampires having super human strength in a lot of literature, not just Twilight. There's that guy from Batman...
Xander Vos
There's a movie coming out that I wanna see, where the world is run by Vampires and they're running out of people to farm blood from. Anyone know it?
Lord Embeion
?=p
I have no idea only Vampire commercials I see are for the one I posted yesterday and The Vampires Assistant
