Upcoming BooksI'll try and keep a running commentary of new books because I always like speculation and we don't seem to have much going in terms of book discussions - maybe not many people read the books, I dunno.
24 March: Fate of the Jedi: Outcast
23 June: Fate of the Jedi: Omen
25 August: Fate of the Jedi: Abyss
13 October: Deathtroopers
27 October: Imperial Commando: 501st
8 December: Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil
29 December: Blood Oath
2010 Books of note:
Star Wars: Holo Star
Crosscurrent
Imperial Commando 2
Interesting that 501st is the only book being released this year without a cover. I'm really looking forward to Dynasty of Evil and Deathtroopers, with the Holo Star book next year - which I HOPE is about Face (Garik Loran an Allston favourite) - and Crosscurrent, which will likely have a lot of Katarn in it, also big on my list.

Deathtroopers is something "different" I can see being popular.
Holostar though? Eh... I doubt that'll sell well - or will be canceled outright.

If it was being written by Allston and was about Face it'd sell like hotcakes.

I'm looking forward to Crosscurrent. Mostly because I love Kemp's writing from his FR books, but also because it might be the book that gets me into reading Star Wars heavily.

If you're the kind of guy who always has to know what happens next, Star Wars will kill your money supply. I'm that kind of guy, which is why I read pretty much anything Star Wars.
Talen D'aar
Well, I don't always have to know, unless I'm reading the series/saga/trilogy, then naturally, yeah. >.>
Xander Vos
Yeah well I treat the Star Wars universe as one big series, and every book is just as relevant.
Only SW books I haven't read (that I have ready access to) is the second two books of the Storm Fleet Crisis Series (and half the first, which I just couldn't get through *_*) and The New Rebellion.

I have a big penis, too. Freakin' show off...

Check out my thread called 17, it has pictures of all my SW books.

Yeah, I saw them. But if we to go by books themselves...I'd have you beat.
Xander Vos
Do I have to post my ENTIRE book shelf? That's just one column... I have another two. Plus boxes of books in the atic.
Talen D'aar
Well, I'd post up mine, but I it'd take too long.....because I have so many.
Xander Vos
How many books would you say you have? If you had to guess?
Talen D'aar
Umm....if I had to guess, I'd probably say near two hundred.
Xander Vos
And no SW books...
I'd say I have around that many, maybe a bit more, plus the books in the attic... so maybe 300? 350?

Big fan of RC books so like the look of the two new ones.

Meh I don't mind them, I'm liking them more now that I'm writing stuff from a Mando's POV and am integrating Mando'ad in my own stories, so I can understand Traviss' writing more, but still, Allston and Denning and so on write a much more classical SW style which I like.

I have the SW Jedi Apprentice with Obi and Qui-Gon. A couple Galaxy of Fear too, but other than that, no.

Read the New Jedi Order Series, they're pretty good.

Fixed.

Meh, it passed the time.
Or, you could read the Darth Bane novels, there's two of them, shortly a third is coming up - well, by shortly I mean December - and they're what I'd define as the perfect Star Wars novel.

Here ya go.
Xander Vos

Oh awesome!! Finally!! Looks good.
I hate with a fiery passion that they chaned the format of the books though. I have three RC books with the Republic Commando: [Title] format on the side, with the little Republic Crest or whatever it is, and then Order 66 comes along and screws it all up, much like I'm sure this one will.
Talen D'aar
What are the books in that series? I've heard they were good too.
Ever since I played Republic Commando on the Xbox, I was curious to see how the books were. Oh, and do any of the books involve any of the guys from the game?

Republic Commando: Hard Contact [Introduces Darman and the rest of Omega Squad on a mission on Qiilura. Also introduces Jedi Etain and Jusik.]
Republic Commando: Triple Zeo [Links the game with Hard Contact by having Delta (The squad from the game) and Omega go on a terrorist-hunting mission on Coruscant.]
Republic Commando: True Colours [Can't remember this very well even though it was the last one I've read, as I didn't really like it. Links in with the LOTF series, and sets up a lot of what happens in Order 66]
Republic Commando: Order 66 [As the title suggests, Palpatine orders the Jedi killed, and Omega squad flees the Republic to Mandalore, leaving Delta behind (I'm guessing, haven't actually got to Order 66 - happens 350 pages in! For a book called Order 66, Order 66 occurs rather late on! ]
Imperial Commando: 501st [Delta Squad deals with things in the new Empire, and presumably Omega Squad gets up to no good on Mandalore. Though I'm not sure who leaves the Empire and who stays so who knows.]
Talen D'aar
Damn, I was hoping Delta would somehow try to not be a part of the Empire. I mean, I know they're clones that have to take orders and everything, but they were my favorites. T.T At least Sev wouldn't have to see it.
Xander Vos

Order 66 is great because it covers that mission to Kashyyyk, which is the bit I'm up to now incidentally. Interesting that when she's writing something very rigidly not hers that she has to stick to, it actually gets GOOD, and has no Mando in it.
But yes, they were soldiers very strict to the rules, unlike Omega, so it's logical they stayed.
Talen D'aar
FRAK!!
Oh well, they should be good reads. Are they on paperback yet?
Xander Vos
They were never hardcover.
Talen D'aar
But isn't Order 66 a Hardcover? O.o?
Xander Vos
Well by the time you get to it it won't be, or if you go to Australia or England it already is cos we're special.
RainaRose

I have to read the books. Seriously.

*Squeals*
I walked into Galaxy Bookstore (a Sci-Fi only bookstore in the city) and saw that Deathtroopers and 501st were on sale! 501st is in paperback so I'll definately buying it in a week or two.
Rive Caedo
I'm glad that the advertising for Deathtroopers has been very tongue-in-cheek even if, I assume, the story itself isn't. They're aware that it's ridiculous
Xander Vos
Looks like a fairly good book, albeit very different to anything else SW has produced.
Darth Splinter
My brother bought and read Deathtroopers already. As ridiculous as it is, I'd still read it.
Xander Vos
I don't think the plot is too ridiculous, just, like I said, not really a generic SW concept, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Rive Caedo
Well, I mean, there's A LOT of ridiculous things in the Star Wars expanded universe. It's just that most of them are tied into energy/mysticism - not biology. I'd be much more prepared to accept an army of "undead" being controlled by a dark Force energy than literal zombies (which I believe this is?)
Of course, who am I to talk? My main little foray into the Star Wars universe involves a goop that eats matter and spits it back out as a perfect replica with extra properties.
Xander Vos
It's an entire Galaxy though, surely there's some biological strain of SOMETHING that brings things back to life. I believe there's even something similar on Earth... someone was talking about it the other week and I only half-heard, something about a fungus or something that could make the limbs of a dead creature spasm.
