TrialsI know this has probably been suggested multiple times but I think we could have a better way to get from Padawan to Knight : rank 1. We have a short multiple choice or short answer "quiz" on Star Wars that is timed.
If the Padawan has a master than the Master would issue the quiz, and if said Padawan had no master then a Council Member would issue the short quiz. It would make it more of a "work towards" type of goal rather than just wait a couple weeks to be promoted. It would contain random Star Wars information that the Master has taught or deemed worthy of quiz type material. It would be timed of course so the Padawan can't take forever to answer. About 20 minutes sounds okay to me.
What do you think?
Oh and naturally the quiz would be "open book" or rather open internet.

Well, I don't know, we are discussing a Trial-type thing actually, and its more like RP-based, since this is an RP forum.

Well, my idea would have worked with this, where the Apprentice is only promoted when both the Council and the Apprentice's Master thinks they are ready.

Well not everyone RP's or wants to RP (me). I think either Xander's idea or mine would work better than RP'ing it to make it to knight status.
The quiz imo wouldn't be that bad of an idea considering it can be issued by Council Members and would contain miscellaneous Star Wars questions i.e. Anakin Skywalker led what Battalion of clone troopers in the Jedi Temple.
If it was multiple choice it would be as follows:
A). The 501st
B). The 204th
C). The 137th
etc.
Or it could be fill in the blank. Whatever's clever.

Well of course, the non-RPers have been taken into consideration. Alternative systems could work for those people. Although it is rather a contradiction if they join a Roleplaying board, and don't roleplay, don't you think?

Or have a question they couldn't research, such as:
Name this Board's Guardian Jedi.
And they have to name everyone. It would take them ages to go through everyone to check, so yeah.

Easy.
No questions having to do with this board. Just as I said before random SW's questions or if they had a master it would be on the stuff the master had taught the Padawan that way the Padawan can't just fly through the lessons. He would indeed have to study them.

In the beginning I was never informed and never knew this was an RP board all together. I knew there was an RP section and ranks and the like but I didn't know this was soley RP.
Regardless I never joined to only RP. I joined to discuss SW's and speak with the general populace.

and thus the shortage of apprentices ends..
but seriously, both the RP and quiz "trials" are good ideas, so why not let the padwan choose his perfered trial?

Well techincally its not the Padawans place to choose his trails.
