The death of Michael JacksonMichael Jackson (50 August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) years old, has been pronounced dead today at 3:15 Pacific Daylight Time. The cause was cardiac arrest.
May he rest in peace, the King of Pop. His songs were a hit, and I loved his albums. Shame he had to die.

I agree. RIP

RIP, but as usual he'll be another person who is glorified more than he should be because he's now dead.

Exactly how I feel. I still will not forgive the disgusting acts he committed(sp?).

I would like to point out he was never found guilty of those things and I personally believe he didn't commit them.

He made the greatest album of all time and was possibly the biggest inspiration on today's music, and that was something that was recognized before he died. That's what people are remembering him for and I honestly don't see how that's him being "glorified" more than he should be.
Chris Moyles said it best (It's the only sensible thing he's ever said) when he said (I'm paraphrasing) "Michael Jackson is to this generation (his generation) what Elvis was to previous generations".
RIP (Rest in Plastic?) MJ.

I couldn't care less about that. I'm more worried about his alleged molestation of a fourteen (?) year old. Look at the man and tell me he wasn't a creep.

What he did was wrong (inviting children to sleep with him) but I believe that there was no molestation involved and, evidently, so do the courts. The man was a child, who had his actual childhood taken away by a abusive and pushy father and he subsequently acted like a child when he grew up.

There are plenty of criminals out there who've got some type of justification for their crimes. Just because Jackson is the king of pop, doesn't mean is excuse is anymore viable than any other joe out there who molests kids. Even if (and I find this doubtful) Jackson didn't molest these kids, sleeping with them is sickening.

Seconded.
And I think Jackson was much more cross-generational than Elvis.

Since when was sharing the bed with someone sickening? I've shared a bed with my sister many times before, is that sickening?
I see MJ as a mixture of black, white, man, woman, adult and child, representing everything in all of us. He was an incredible singer, who was also incredibly eccentric. There seems inherent in humans a desire to hate what is unknown to us, or strange, and MJ was certainly strange. To say these sorts of things, especially after his death, are uneccessarily harsh.

It is a little weird, yes, but it doesn't compare to sharing a bed with somebody who is significantly under-aged.

Sharing a bed with someone is absolutely harmless. Whenever my family would go away on holidays and we'd book a room, there'd more than likely be two double beds, meaning my sister and I would share. Of course this has become more and more sparse as we get older - as it should - but if a situation ever arises where, for instance, we were at our cousins a few months ago and they had a guest room with one double bed, we shrugged our shoulders and put up a wall of pillows.
My point being, even if we assume the allegations of sharing a bed are correct, Wacko Jacko may, actually have been merely sharing a bed.
|
Sirak Sazen

There's a difference between you sharing a bed with your sister and a 40 year old man sharing a bed with kids. There are no allegations. He openly stated he shared a bed with children in his documentary.

I used to share a bed with my dad all the time when I was younger, and he was 40+ years old.

I have a question.
And it's the same thing with the Abstinince debate.
Who gives a s**t whither or not MJ molested people?
Elvis had underage sex, hell, Frank Sinatra had Mob connections, probably put out a hit on someone, yet no one seems to rant about the evil, twisted mind of Elvis Prestly, nor the Silver Tongued, Golden voiced mobster Frank Sinatra. So at the sake of sounding like Chris Crocker, Leave MJ alone.
He wrote [Frakin'] Thriller and [Frakin'] Smooth Criminal, so damn, he was certainly to be considered a genius, if not a strange one. Anyway, chances are, I sounded a bit to defensive, but you get my point.
Anyway, I shed a tear over MJ, be it a slight one, as I do not worship him as all the crazed fans that are still in their basements sobbing hysterically.
|
Sirak Sazen
|
So because Elvis had underaged sex (along with 2/3 of Americans) and Frank Sinatra had alledged mob ties, that puts them at the same level as a man who sexually violated children?
|
Adenn

Nobody can prove he sexually violated children, except for the children themselves. Have they said anything?

Actually they did, at the time one boy was asked to describe spots on MJ's penis, and it was confirmed that it was accurate, but when MJ settled and paid him a sum of money, the case went away.
