I'm not sure if they'll be doing them every week or if it's a one time thing for the premiere, but there's a pair of online comics that take place immediately before each of the two episodes - providing some good background context. [Link]
Since Rising Malevolence is the start of a plot arc lasting multiple episodes, I recommend seeing the full episode if you can find a way to do that. Ambush appears to be much more self-contained (although the clones in it may be ongoing characters), but it's still worth seeing.
Spoiler tags are NOT required for this thread. It's assumed you've seen the episodes.
Both:
Yes! I said earlier in the thread that I'd hope they do the Starship Troopers narrator style opening they did in the movie for every episode in lieu of an opening crawl and they DID. Bwahaha! I love it.
I'm still not sure if that's actually Christopher Lee doing Dooku. But since he's close enough that I can't tell (unlike the guy that did him in the Clone Wars 2D series), he's good enough even if he's not the genuine article.
They're having a loose moral for every episode it seems - but they're not jamming it down your throat. Thank goodness. It's shown in place of the "a long time ago" and then they have a line or two reinforcing the concept at the end.
I still don't mind the battle droid jokes - although I thought the ones in the movie were better than the ones in these two episodes. Miles above Jar Jar in any case... who's supposedly showing up later in the series. Be afraid. Be very very afraid
Ambush: "Great leaders inspire greatness in others."
Yoda just completely outclassing Ventress was an awesome moment. And, despite looking fairly ridiculous, the Toydarian King that scared me actually acted rather... kingly.
I liked the little moment where Yoda's theme from Empire Strikes Back played as he was talking to the clones in the cave. Also the first indication that they'll be good on their word of getting to know individual clones and the overall clone perspective during the war.
Lastly, I liked the droid getting his head sliced off in the middle of talking to Ventress.
Rising Malevolence: "Belief is not a matter of choice, but of conviction."
I rather liked Plo drifting the Clone in space behind the droids using the Force. But I'm not sure if I liked the concept behind the scene. The escape pod didn't appear to have a multi-door airlock. How did they get outside without sucking that non-armored officer clone ("Wolf") outside? Oh well.
I still love Plo Koon's voice, look, and personality. I hope he's a frequent episode star.
Overall: Better than the movie and shows promise. I don't see how they could do a much better job while keeping it kid-friendly. I look forward to tuning in each week for some light hearted Jedi fun.

Don't think they're showing them on my Cartoon Network, but I just watched them online.
Whilst I liked them, I don't like the fact that there doesn't seem to be a continuous storyline as of yet. Perhaps each "character" will have a storyline - e.g Yoda, Plo Koon, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ashoka etc. But as of yet that doesn't seem a large part of it.
If these were anything to go by Greivous and Ventress seem to be highly recurring characters which I also don't like, I hope they become less common as it goes on.
I also reeeeally didn't like the droid humour used whilst hunting Yoda, REALLY didn't like it. It was slightly better in the Koon episode.
That out of the way, I did immensly enjoy them. The action was great, and the plots were both original and interesting. I really hope that this is sustained as it will make the series quite enjoyable. Makes me wonder what the movie was like.

The direction they seem to be going is "Short story arcs lasting about a month, then some one-shot stories before another arc storyline."
Uh, spoilers for the titles of the next 4 episodes, plus episode 12.
Spoiler:
Episode 1: "Ambush" - Appears to be a one-shot Yoda episode.
Episode 2: "Rising Malevolence" - Introduction of the Malevolence.
Episode 3: "Shadows of Malevolence" - Anakin and Plo form a strike team to attack the Malevolence.
Episode 4: "Destroy Malevolence" - The strike team attempts to destroy the Malevolence.
Episode 5: "Rookies" - a one-shot episode featuring purely Clones - no Jedi it looks like.
Episode 6: "Downfall of a Droid" - Likely a one-shot comedy episode focusing around R2-D2 or C-3PO.
Episode 12: "The Lair of General Grievous" - Kit Fisto and his former apprentice stumble across General Grievous' lair where he goes to be repaired after battles. Likely part of a two or three part arc, but it could be a one-shot.

I agree (although I did like the "ruuun for itttt!" just before the two droids got sucked back into the tank and all you got to see was the flash of Yoda's lightsaber as they were destroyed). I think the primary difference was that the Yoda episode used humor entirely focused around the droids being stupid - and it was too over-the-top (the Clone Wars movie jokes were a bit more toned down). In contrast, the Plo Koon episode had some rather morbid humor (I particularly liked the droid humming a little tune on the way to crush the next pod - after killing everyone in the previous one). That works much better since it's something rather unique. I'm not sure how many morbid jokes about the inhumanity of the droids we'll get though - since it's likely to go over the intended audience's heads.
ALSO: I missed this the first time I watched, but caught it the second time.
When Plo is attempting to get radio contact with the pod about to be cut open, he says:
"Pod 1-9-77, do you copy?"
Xander Vos
Haha!! Nice catch! I missed that.

I hate to sound stupid....but whats the significance of that exactly?

Star Wars was released May 1977

Thanks for the info...

No problem TK 421 lol

Surprised there hasn't been any 1138's yet... Plenty of direct quoting of the movies like the cartoon show though.

Can't find a reason to watch this, really. The movie was garbage and the animation pretty poor. So, whoever hated the movie, tell me what you think of the show!
Rive Caedo
I've seen quite a few reviews from people who hated the movie. The general opinion is that both episodes were better than the movie (no huttlets, no Ziro the Hutt, not much Anakin and Ahsoka).
The animation was pretty bad for a movie (since across the aisle you have Pixar and Dreamworks), but it's really good for a TV series.
Still, you might consider picking and choosing which episodes you watch. As Xander said, the first episode has an abundance of the "droid humor" so you might consider skipping that (although it does have some cool Yoda lines - very Empire Strikes Backy). The second episode is much better though.
I'd bump Malevolence up to a 7.6, but otherwise I feel the review are very fair from an adult perspective watching the show.

Now that one I understand.
Oh, and I hated the movie and found th episodes to be fairly good.

I loved them. The voice at the start that was on for 5 seconds that told of what was going on made me mad, but everything else was cool. Can't wait to watch it every friday. With 100 episodes being made regardless of ratings, and with 22 episodes in the first season, I can live with 4-5 straight seasons of it. x10000000000000000000000000000

If you pay close attention to the title of the episode "Rookiees", there's two 'e's in the spelling which might be an allusion to the fact there are Wookiees in the episode. Or Rive just misspelled rookie and this entire speculation is nonsense. But the former seems more likely. XD
Rive Caedo
No Wookiee rookies, just a mistake on my part

Koh-to-ya! Just a few hours until episode 3 and I'm still finding neat stuff for episodes 1 and 2!
In addition to previously mentioned short comics that take place before episodes. They're apparently also going to do some fun little in-universe "Holonet" radio shows occasionally - similar to how they did the Holonet news articles online between Episodes I and II.
If you listen to NPR, or watch PBS or BBC (or other country equivalents) you'll find it fairly amusing. It also has elements of World War II era broadcasts.
Holonet Radio wrote:
"It's doubtlessly a cloaked ship with cloaked projectile weapons"
"That's ridiculous."
"It is possi --"
"Ridiculous."
"It is possible!"
"Eight kilometers."
"Twelve."
"Seventeen!"
Also, in addition to putting the full episodes up online, a brief commentary clip for each episode has been put up.
