The Clone Wars: Episode 10 Discussion

"Greeeeetings Jedi."

An episode many of us have been waiting for (they've been teasing us with it since just after the movie was released). Promises to provide a closer look at General Grievous and his history than before seen in visual material (books and guides have gotten into it a bit) and the first look at his lair in any material.

This week's webcomic: "The Dreams of General Grevious"

Lord Embeion

His spikes remind me of Omega-Shenron from DBGT....
Sirak Sazen

He was a Kaleesh, correct? I've started watching the shows now that I've had more free time. I've watched the Malevolence trilogy and "Rookies", but I missed the one last week with Luminara. Grevious was never one of my favorite characters. I never believed he had any depth to him. Hopefully this episode will change my mind.

Oh, and the voice acting for Obi-Wan is dreadful.

You should read the backstory of greivous.

It's the same voice actor that did the microseries Obi-Wan. Personally, I think he's the closest voice to Obi-Wan out there, best too.

He was a Kaleesh warrior who got blown up because San Hill rigged it and than got put back together by said mad scientist and now has a wheezing cough and an appetite for Jedi. I got the basic idea.

I don't like Ahsoka. But at least she hasn't said Sky-guy. They should kill her off, though. Anyway, even though I hate the voice they gave Kit Fisto(just because he can swim underwater does not give you the right to give him a jamaican accent) I will watch. It will jsut diminish his stature in my eyes.  Sad
Sirak Sazen

Ashoka (I thought it was "Asoka") will at some point be killed off. The other scenario is that after Anakin's transformation he'll care too much for her and let her live.

My thoughts are along the same lines. I liked him in the microseries - I like him now. Sirak is crazy Razz

I didn't like the guy who voiced Anakin in the microseries - so I'm glad they replaced him.

I watched the trailer for tonight's episode again. I think they should have gone a bit more Ackbarish with his voice. He sounds a bit too human.
Then again, the Mon Calamari who shouted to Ackbar "Admiral, we have enemy ships in sector 47!" ("It's a trap!") sounded pretty human too.
Sirak Sazen

Yes, I am crazy. I still think Obi-Wan sounds like a Brit with constipation.
Lord Embeion

Pretty decent episode.. I was hoping for more lore on Grevious though.
Sirak Sazen

The episode didn't explain anything. It showed Grevious has an obsession with a "strange warrior" (we all know who that is), but that was it. I'm glad the Padawan died. I want to see more major characters hit the dirt as well. I'd also have liked to see more of Anakin, although Kit is an awesome character.
Rive Caedo

I'll second that opinion, however I thought this went far beyond decent. In fact, I'm having trouble deciding if this is my new favorite episode or if Shadow of Malevolence still holds that spot.

The shots near the beginning with the partially-destroyed Grevious crawling around being chased by flashlights and the final fight between him and Fisto were rather cinematic. And the Mon Calamari's attacks on the droids right after the door separated him and Fisto (KOTOR I opening, anyone?) were probably the smoothest best-animated lightsaber choreography we've gotten yet.

Also notable for being the first episode that's gotten a violent content warning (almost certainly due to the dismemberments).

Unfortunately we now need to wait 3 weeks for Episode XI. At least they went to the Winter Break after a good episode. All in all, I'm once again pleasantly surprised by how well the series is turning out.

I'm looking forward to seeing the concept art for this one - but it's not online yet. I'll post it here once it's up.
Sirak Sazen

I love concept art. Very Happy  Grevious crawling around like a spider monkey is eerily similar to his role in RotS. Make you wonder how many hands he can afford to have chopped off. His relationship with Dooku is becoming more hostile. I want a confrontation, now. The sound of Kit's voice (something fans have wondered) was a gamble that definitely paid off. I still want more depth to Grevious. I want to see him cry. I hate losing so many clones that you start to love after two minutes of airtime. Animation, per Rive, was smooth and fluid. Best lightsaber duel scenes yet in the series. Great episode.

Gah, only one really good piece of concept art:

Sirak Sazen

I wanted him to scream "It's a trap!" so badly.  Laughing

this was an amazing episode. Kit Fisto was bad*** as hell. I even liked the voice at the end of it. I hope more episodes are like this.

Indeed, a very good episode.  Cool
Darth Samuel

Kit Fisto slicing off Greivous' legs was awesome on so many levels. It reminded me of what we used to do to Lanik.  Razz

Pssh, and you said the voice for Fisto was horrible. I knew you'd come around Very Happy

Heroin binges? Cause that's what Vexen does. I think. Can't remember if he admitted it or not.
Rive Caedo

This is one that's probably worth rewatching sooner rather than later.

The next episode looks like it should be fun too. Dooku hasn't really seen any action since the movie. And even in the 2D series I believe all he got to do was a 15 second training duel against Grievous. The rest was just telling Ventress what to do.
Sirak Sazen

I'm starting to like Dooku's role in the show. It would be even better if we didn't know his full power yet.

Actually, he fought Ventress too. After she claimed to be a sith, he lightning'd her and she woke up in Dooku's lair where they fought some more and then he gave her curved lightsabers.
Darth Samuel

I'm going to love how he fights them. Though with no lightsabers it might be cool.

Kudos to Lucasfilm and Lucasanimation for such a great series.

Anyone know where I can find this episode...without having to download it?

You could try www.sidereel.com ; I go there to watch a lot of shows. Also, you don't have to download anything.  Wink
