Star Wars: Battlefront 3It's sad to hear that the studio and game are....well, "dead-in-the-water" so to speak, but there was a video made of its progress by Free Radical. It looks pretty far into development from the video; with the cuts-cenes and gameplay. It also looks as if it would have covered all 6 films by the looks of the environments and heroes shown in the footage. Look for yourself and see what could have been . There is also some Jedi action in it as well. Hopefully someone *cough* LucusArts *cough* and save this thing and help it see the light of day!

I was just about to post this actually
A. BF2 is the best selling SW game of all time. OBVIOUSLY a sequal is coming, that video is in the alpha stage and looks partially completed, probably late 2009 (If FR didn't drop dead). B. Lucasarts won't make it, they are giving it to the team that made the PSP incarnation (It's a rumor, and if it's true it's a hit or mis kind of thing). C. Watching that video, I was so happy to see a guy get into a ship on the ground, fly all the way to space, and board a capitol ship. THAT would have been epic, having both space and ground battles at the same time. |

Rumor has it that Pandemic has/will take over the rains(sp?) from Free Radical to finish SW: Battlefront 3. Here's a link to the info I found...plus a very detailed Jawa to hold you over for the time being. Enjoy!

***Update***
Looks like the Battlefront 3 video and Sith-Kenobi that I just posted may never see the light of day...  . Sure the game has been handed over to a new studio but the cut-scenes will NOT be used by the new studio, nor will the story line that had been worked on/started by Free Radical.....so no Sith-Kenobi for us it would seem . If you want to see where I got this depressing bit of news, here's the link. Now if you will excuse me, I will run off and cry my little SW tears for the would-be dream of killing Ewoks, Jawas and Gungans with Dark Kenobi....

***Update*** It has been said that the technology that allowed ships to travel from the ground to ships in space will die along with the folding of Free Radical. It will be still possible to continue the fight from ground to space but instaed of it being in real-time, it will cut to a cutscene to show the transition. Geez, first the plot and cut-scenes go, then no Dark Kenobi, now this.... What else is gonna die off with the closing of Free Radical before this game sees the light of day?

If I had the money I'd buy Free Radical and I'd have them continue it. Since they can't, I hope the rumor about Pandemic developing it is true.
Rebellion isn't that bad, though there are A LOT of cheaters in Renegade Squadron online. I don't know how you can jump 50 feet in the air, or fire 5 rockets at once, but apparently it's what all the l33t players do.

That's why I always play offline. When I am online, people hack.
Except on the PS3. PS3 FPS' are virtually hack free (in fact, apart from some lags in internet which aren't really hacks, I don't think I've ever seen a PS3 hacker). PC is different, it sucks. |

You can't hack into a persons console. Online Console play you can do 2 things.. you can glitch or have a modded Xbox/controller. On the PC you can do anything, even crash the person's computer and make them have to buy a new one. | ||||||

***Update*** Here's an artical that has new info on Free Radical, Battlefront 3 and a bit on Timesplitters 4. It contains an interview with one of the people who worked on the unfinished Battlefront game; he is being referred to as Thomas Dudenaughty. He talks about what was seen in the leaked video and the state of the studio; which is not completely dead just yet(there is a chance the studio can still be saved). He also goes a bit into the work on TS4. He says that what was shown in the Battlefront footage was mostly from the multiplayer part of the game, not much(other than the cut-scenes) was shown from the single player. Read on to feel even worse about what happend to Free Radical and what could have been...

Well, it read that they'd not go with the seemless flight. They'll use short clips to represent when one enters space, or vice versa. This will make the game fall a LONG way, spawning forth another cheap clone of the previous games, just as Battlefront II was.

1) Buy a PS3. 360, if you want the extra monthly expenses, is equally good depending on the games you want (I wanted a PS3 for free internet and for some games like Lair and Resistance 2. I'm not big into Halo, but with Halo Wars coming out I'd say that both consoles are great. Still recommend a PS3, however, for the cheapness and somewhat- depending on the game- better graphics).
2) Battlefront II sucked... but it's also amazing. It was so awful, and yet so addicting. I just can't stop playing it, and I sometimes still warm up ye' somewhat-eth old PC and play it. |

Who the $%#@ said that? Yes, for one reason or the next, when I play COD4 online, there are many African Americans with mikes. (there are also a large number of white 10 year olds who somehow kill me.... and then start talking in their high voices). But that sounds like a racist comment that could offend people. |

Double post: They seem quite similar. I do prefer the PS3 slightly, as it mixes blending and contrast rather well. The 360 is somewhat better when it came to distance, but I feel that the differences overall are rather small. Due to the slightly better- IMO- graphics on the PS3, it takes the cake in this category. In games.... ugh, the 360 has Halo Wars and Gears of War! But, Gears of War has graphically failed due to Halo 3 coming out (which is a game I don't enjoy.... at all), and, while I see potential in Halo Wars, I doubt it will amount to anything (especially considering I despise the other Halo Games). Lair is amazing, and Resistance (1 and 2) are great. PS3 wins here. Internet: Obviously a PS3 win due to it being FREE. Community: Rather equal. Problem is, very few people on Rebels own a PS3 (Scion and myself do), but I have a number of personal and online friends who do. Glitches: 360, by far, has a more laggy and glitchy system. Controls: Doesn't matter much, but I can't really understand the 360 control scheme. This is, however, rather subjective (I never owned and Xbox, and I had a PS2, so my misunderstanding of the 360 controller is understandable). PS3 also has the Sixaxis.... |

Lies. LIVE is nearly the same thing as PSN (all anybody uses it for is the "online" button on FPS's.... okay, DEMOS and downloads are great too.... trophies are fun.... but all of those things are on both). Communities are the same and everything. When everything is the same, take the cheaper (PSN=free). PS2 sucks, but I love it. It's like Battlefront II. You play it, and graphics, internet and everything affiliated with graphics and internet suck, but it's so addicting you can't stop (... WoW...) |

The leveling up system with trophies is enjoyable, but trophies themselves are for ego maniacs (Like achievements). The only plus side to Xbox LIVE is cross game chat, but PSN is free. 1 more game a year>than talking to people playing a different game. |

Stupid people are lazy.
Very untrue. I spent as much as a 360 on my current PC and it runs Crysis on high and has 3x the HD space. On top of that, I use my PC for more than just games, justifying any extra costs. If people would just shop around, they would find that keeping a PC up to date is relatively inexpensive. You don't need top of the line hardware every year. My current model is about 2 years old and has run every game made since then fine and probably will run all games fine until the consoles switch over to better hardware (At least 2 years from now anyway) |

Don't buy premade ones, make your own. You'll save thousands. You already have most of it, as you are using one right now. Say $200 for a decent graphics card (I bought mine new for $250, probably runs at about $100 now.), anywhere from $300-500 for a new processor and motherboard (You only need a new motherboard if you're current one can't handle a dual core), and about $40 for 2 GB of RAM. You're all set, besides installing all the new hardware, which is what instruction manuals are for. So, I'd say $800 max for a above average gaming ready PC, which is about what I paid (I bought a new KB and Mouse with it and new speakers (All unecessary), and I needed a new fan, but those are cheaper compared to CPU and Motherboard). Should I even bring up the fact that Crytek got Crysis running on full settings on a $600 PC? |
