Resistance 2 selected private beta is out! I was invited too...
Anyway, for those of you who don't know, Resistance Fall of Man is a FPS exclusive on the PS3 (nicknamed the PS3's Halo). In my opinion it's far superior to Halo, but don't be all like " quote Mortalis unquote PS3 sucks get out of heyah! Halo is betta' than yo' life." or Sam "I quoted for teh lulz". I just want to talk about HOW SWEET IT IS! I'm downloading the demo now....

I did it for teh lulz.
Anyway, I'd get it, but Ps3's are hella expensive.

No matter how much you use the internet, the price stays the same. that's how it is where i am.
Lord Invictus
Internet subscription on Xbox costs money. PS3 internet's free.

xbox live has chat, msn, videos and music videos, plus all of my friends have it and many online friends have it. I so far have no online friends that have a Ps3. (Unless I count you. ))

November 4th...
I'll still be reeling from Fallout 3 on October 28th. Which won't be too long after I'm done with Force Unleashed... and Spore comes out day after tomorrow! And Wrath of the Lich King will be coming out in November too I bet!
So even hypothetical PS3 owning Rive wouldn't have time for this game. Sorry Resistance. Man will fall.

so for the price of a PS3, I could get an Xbox 360 Elite. I'm sold.

The Elite seems like a total rip off to me. $100 extra dollars for 60GB of extra hard drive space?
The Arcade seems like a similar rip off since - from what I've read - the 256MB memory card it comes with will only hold enough save data for 4 or 5 games and it blocks you from most LIVE features.
That said. $300 for the Premium looks like a winner. I'm still not sure if it's enough to convince me to trade my mouse and keyboard for a pair of thumbsticks though. I might end up with a PS3 instead at some point due to its BluRay drive. The gaming capabilities would just be a bonus.

The elite isn't supposed to break down or something.

That's a plus side, so unless I buy the most expensive version, my system fails!
I should download it, I preordered the CE so I should get it.
Lord Vexen
I've had my 360 for the 2 years and mine is fine.
Dork of Mordork
My 360 is still in perfect working order.
Heck, my GameCube is still in perfect condition. I've had that since I was 10-11.
Resistance 2, I do admit looks good, and I'd get it if it was on 360.
But, it's not.
PS3s are majorly inflated in my opinion, and from what I've played on them, they're not worth it.
Sony sucks.
Lord Embeion
My Playstation 1 works better then my Xbox 360 and my Super Nintendo works better then both of them... I wonder if my Dads Atari still works.
Ever since SOE ruined SWG I haven't cared much for Sony in general. Plus Resistance is a wannabe GoW

Sony=/= SOE (They ruin most MMO's from my understanding).
Currently Sony is my favorite console developer, mostly because every game worth mentioning on the 360 that is first party is a PC game and Nintendo no longer cares about its fans.

I'll admit Sony hyped it a little to much from the get go, but it is everyone elses fault for believing them. Sony seems to be turning into the new Nintendo, it relies mostly on First party support now, because Third party developers get really big checks from Microsoft to get exclusives that would otherwise be Multiplatform or exclusive to Sony. Also Microsoft only has like 3 in house development studios, Sony has about 17 and Nintendo has god only knows how many.

You can certainly knock Nintendo for that, but I'm not sure if the 360 swipe is fair. If Sony was purely a software developer and was making Resistance for the 360 you can bet they'd port it over to the PC in a year or so - simply because of how compatible 360 code is with PC code. It's an extra paycheck.
Scion
I know that Rive, SOE's 2 new projects are PC and PS3. However hearing the 360's "exclusive" lineup and knowing that within the next year it will either be on PC or already is (And better for that matter) definitely isn't an upside to the 360's lineup. I just picked up Mass Effect today for $20 cheaper new than the 360 version and it came with the DLC FREE (Something Microsoft knows nothing about) and I can't wait to play Fable 2 next year as well.
Meanwhile, good luck seeing LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM, and Resistance 2 on anything other than PS3.
Rive Caedo
Right. I got the PC version of Mass Effect also. I considered buying a newly discounted 360 mostly for the ability to play Mass Effect 2 a year early - since the first one is so amazing. But then I read that Mass Effect 2 will have the ability to transfer your Mass Effect 1 character over and give some storyline and ability extras. I doubt they'll let me transfer my PC save files to the XBox version. *sigh*
LittleBigPlanet does interest me a bit. It's probably something I would buy if I ever picked up a PS3 to get a BluRay drive - along with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Mass Effect 2 is coming to the PC simultaneously I believe.
Rive Caedo
Not simultaneously - but it looks like they're aiming for less than the six months it took to port the original.
It's been an honor sir. I'm sorry.... BOOM HEADSHOT!

You can, using a USB stick and a bit of techy wizz
I have a Level 60 guy so I kinda own on that game.
Sirak Sazen
I follow the Resistance storyline. I've always been interested in the collapse of civilization.
Lord Invictus
Isn't everyone?
Journey
Well, I do own this game and I can't wait to play it, but I've promised myself that I would complete Resistance: FoM first, but it is such a chore... FoM is possibly the worst FPS I've ever played (I've probably played worse ones on previous gen consoles, but definitely it's the worst from the current gen, with the exception of Red Steel and maybe Perfect Dark: Zero).
But from what I understand Resistance 2 is 20x the game that FoM is.
So infuriating.
Lord Invictus
FoM is bad? What? That might be my favorite FPS (maybe tied with COD4). But yes, R2 is better. It's probably the best FPS ever. The reason FoM was so hard for me was the button scheme: I kept thinking L1 was aim like in every game. When I tried to aim I shot a grenade launcher right in front of me, killing myself.
Bullseye owns: it's the best weapon in any videogame. R2 has a gun that shoots shruikens at the enemy and also acts as a chainsaw.
Plus they have a pistol that shoots ammo you remotely detonate.
Journey
Hey, I can appreciate the fact that the game is reasonably well loved across the gaming community but I just don't like it that much, It's still playable because it has an excellent premise.
It still has flaws though (Mainly AI related), but If you love it, then that's fine, I'm not going to judge.
Lord Invictus
Meh, AI is sometimes not great. Then again, it depends on your level of difficulty. Being the coward I am, I played co-op on easy. Allied AI doesn't matter that much due to the fact your allies are usually miles away when you're in a creepy tunnel Enemy AI is pretty good. R2 AI is a lot better. R2 graphics are a lot better. R2 aiming is better (no more "L1 is the special attack!" They moved to the traditional L1=aim. Also, they actually have an aim instead of just enlarging the weapon and crosshairs). R2 weapons actually sound nice and shoot smoothly instead of the rickety nonsense of R1. R2 has more weapons, and an online-co-op campaign of perhaps 8 people with a storyline parallel to the main campaign. R2 also has an awesome ending and a sidearm weapon! No more two rifles! YOu get a sidearm too (which is better than most guns )

That's an huge exageration (sp?). i wonder if he enjoyed Conflict: Denied Ops, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Legendary, Turok, Haze, Call of Duty 3, and many others.
FPS's are is currently the most overused genre of the market and the saturation of so many makes it very hard to believe Resistance is the worst you have played. I'll admit it isn't the best, but the worst? Hardly.
That being said, R2 was a little disappointing. Felt to much like a COD game. Thaat and the single player sucked. BUt, if it wasn't for Left 4 Dead, R2 would have the best Co-op in an FPS ever.

No, I gave that as an example of a bad game.

R2 is so far good. It's annoying when it takes two tries to figure out why you shouldn't jump into fury-infested water

Yes, R2 is all about trial and error gameplay. The low point is the boss fights though.

It had such premise (which is why I got it.) But it was just an epic fail.

Erm... No.
The thing is that the premise of these games couldn't save them. Resistance: FoM is playable because the gameplay is passable and the story is excellent.
You're right, it is a huge exaggeration, but none the less, I feel that way probably because it was such a huge disappointment for me. Games like Turning Point and Haze are barely even playable so I just steer clear of them. The reason why I'm so disappointed is that Resistance: FoM was so close to being an elite title but faltered in its ability to produce a great gaming experience.
Is it the worst first person shooter of the current gen? No, probably not, I was wrong. Is it the most disappointing FPS of the current gen? Absolutely.
(I'd also prefer it if you would address me when you are quoting me, as opposed to referring to me as "he")
Lord Invictus
Haze was less than mediocre. Interesting features but a "ugh.... they actually put that on a next gen?" idea came from it.
I loved Resistance, and so did the media. It had a 9/10 and often a 9.5/10. For most games, that's amazing.
R2 is better, IMO.

Sorry Journey, get used to using pronouns.
I personally preferred Fall of Man to R2, but that's because the single player didn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. However, Killzone 2 seems to be the just medicine to my Resistance problem.
Journey
Fair enough, I just find it's rather impersonal to address someone by calling them "he".
Regardless, you're obviously more than welcome to your opinion, much like I am welcome to mine.
