Official Nostalgia ThreadI started work on my entry for the SWF short story contest and decided to do it on Darth Kllius - my first ever RP character back in the days of Galaxy of the Force. Nostalgia. I can haz it.
Was anybody a part of that site?
Devrin
I was on it, but when it died, I went with it.
Sirak Sazen
I was there in the hayday. O God, here come the tears...
Lord Embeion
You mean Matas's site? lolol I ran it =p
Sirak Sazen
Yeah. Who were you?
Lord Embeion
Urwen
Might have been before your time. I joined and on my second day made my post that put me in the Admin seat. I was on there for some time then took a break.. came back got my Admin back =p. Left again and from there-on just randomly posted.
It was pretty active for awhile then the Jedi fell behind some and the Sith leader basically deleted us. I did enjoy my brief time as the Supreme Prophet. When we brought back the Jedi it was glorious. A time when me and Shadow were on friendly terms (lolol) the site became very active again. I was more into GoTF then I was Rebels/TDSL. After that it took a fall again.. but then the Grey Jedi came. Oh that reminds me I took back the Grand Master seat for a third time because the one they had gave away basically all of the Jedi planets to the Grey Jedi when they barely put any pressure on him. A month or so later it kinda fell off again and thats when I started randomyl popping in. It looks like Tanya and Ordo redid everything ( prolly the 5th time the site went through a reconstruction. Which reminds me that we had a domain for all of 1month. We also tried to remake the site with better templates on a better forum host but that never fully went through so we just revived the MFF site.). This was the only thing left that I found my username in "Grandmaster Urwen has kindly removed the karma feature for us."
ah! look at you! got me thinking about the past.

Was anybody a part of that site? |
That was started by Darth.... M...something? He was on here for quite a while, I was on there for a bit, I think I was one of the leading Jedi, honestly can't quite remember.
Rive Caedo
I don't think I did anything on GotF, just Clash of the Force - of which I still didn't do much.
Neither are very memorable - their histories so much briefer than Rebels. Ships passing in the night
Dakoth
Galaxy of the force? More like nebulae of suck.
Xander Vos
I think one of them, or something seperate, existed at one point, where we could actually battle each other, and I spent hours making a Walkthrough to it. It was quite fun. You fought Gun-Guns and stuff and got more money and could buy a lightsaber etc.
Malak? Marix? No, not Marix, he was someone else... Someone help me out, his character was an Iridonian. Kisuk Kolar was the name he took later, but what was his Sith name?
Dakoth
Darth Matas.
Xander Vos
Was it? That looks kinda right but sounds weird in my head.
Dakoth
Well he was Kisuk, that much I'm sure of.
Xander Vos
Yeah the more I look at it the more it makes sense. He created GotF I think.
Lord Embeion
GoTF was around for much longer then your average spin-off forum. So long that we started to get our own members instead of taking them from established sites.
Sirak Sazen
It may have sucked, but so did I at that point.
@Emby Yeah. Somebody had the bright idea to delete EVERY post ever made. I really gave up at that point.
Lord Embeion
It was more RP focused then Rebels and had more activity then TDSL. So it didn't suck at all. Just most of the higher members came from here so they drifted away over time to there native forums.
Sirak Sazen
I'll never forget Matt telling me he doubted I had any potential.
Lord Embeion
Lol. Matt is a emo who puts random shoes in his pictures. I also remember crushing a few people. I also remember constantly stealing Sith Council members for the Jedi cause
Lol I believe I trained Matt actually.

Random shoes?

Darth Splinter
Matas was Diego. The only Mexican in the Rebels/GotF/DSL trifecta I believe.
Sirak Sazen
...and the only one to claim to have been shot - multiple times.
Now that I think about it, Leon Sparrow (not sure of his relation to our Leon), while being my best friend on that site, slung more BS than Barack Obama. I remember something along the lines of him being involved in an FBI sting with gun-toting Nazis.
Darth Splinter
I was told he was mentally retarded.
Sirak Sazen
I'd buy that.
Darth Splinter
Remember Reaves? He plotted to kill me and fled... What a puss.

Very faintly, but I think so.

Or my neighbors.
Lord Embeion
lolol. Matas and his little brother.
Leon Sparrow was the nuttiest person by far. Out trolls Maven anyday. I do remember Splinter from the site quite well. I believe I left him my Supreme Prophet spot
Sirak Sazen
Makes you wonder what ever happened to that guy.
Lord Embeion
Leon was constantly coming and going. He probably went to another site and I imagine did the same thing. Last time I saw him though he matured a little and was attempting to hack us. Failed ( cuz ima boss)
Sirak Sazen
Hack us? Exactly how did he plan on doing that?
Lord Embeion
By giving randoms Admin and take control of the board.
Sirak Sazen
I'm confused. Are we talking about Rebels?
Rive Caedo
Rebels has only been hacked once. In December 2005 when I took it over from Krato, Rick, and Lo'tan via my puppet "Jedi Abba" account, deleted all the old posts, and made it look like a new forum.
Lord Embeion
I remember when Rebels was a land of white snow and no dense star fields. When your puppet account was active

Marix and I conspired to hack TDSL and remove Shadow from power, but it didn't work...
Devrin
Ahh, so that's why Shadow got pissed at Marix. Lolsauce.
Xander Vos
Yeah, something like that.
Devrin
I'm garbage on TDSL now. I have so much crap to do on there. I'm failsauce.
Xander Vos
I'll try and take a leading role there over summer if Shadow permits me. I feel like digging in deep and really trying to accomplish stuff.
Devrin
Well, I hope he lets you. I really do. It would be great to have you back.
Xander Vos
Thanks. It would be nice getting back to the site I helped found. As much as I love Rebels, it used to be the 'Rebel Scum copy-cat icky blue site'
Devrin
Lolz. I'm sure the beginning of TDSL and Rebels is a very grand tale indeed.
Xander Vos
Ohhhhh yeah. Haha, I remember when TDSL first started up, the Apprentices all were given missions to recruit new people, spy on Rebels, or do tasks for their Masters. At one point I kept an up to date list on all the Jedi killed (in real SW canon) in each era. I looked over the lists a few months ago, they're impressively long. I'd task Apprentices with searching for Jedi I couldn't find the cause of death or source for.
Anyway, the whole 'dual' accounts thing came about because we wanted to spy on this new Rebels forum, which was like ours but blue. I can remember Ducki remarking 'My eyes hurt looking at it!' Chick was a bit odd... she wanted to put Obi-Tyler on the Sith Council because he swore he'd turned to the Dark when it was obvious he hadn't, but then she dissapeared quite quickly. Her mother Dell came on for a bit - at least we think it was her mother - which is why Chick, the character's, mother is also named Dell.
Devrin
There must be more to this epic!
Xander Vos
Oh, I'm far too Alzheimered to remember the rest.
But it's a long and vivid history, marked with epics like the Seal_Nellie incident, the Smilie Wars, etc. We were worried we weren't going to have any more 'epics' and then Jianna came along.
Devrin
You are forgetting the MAGICAL BOGA! Or, at least, that's what I think it's called...
Xander Vos
Oh yeah! Geeze completely forgot. And Vadercakes and stuff. I think it was Abba and Shatterpoint's fun for the new users.
Can't even remember where Boga started...
And of course the Blenders.
Devrin
Rebels seems like the fun one of the former sister sites.
It really makes me mad that now on TDSL you almost have to be perfect in RPing, your grammar and SW knowledge just to be liked by other members. Mainly Serratus and Aequitas.
Xander Vos
It's always been like that. Scourge used to run it and do a good job - he was basically Rive's alter-ego, leading to many claims of a Riurge entity - but then he left. Shadow's taken over, and it's still run well, but yeah, Rebels was always the more laid back alternative.
Devrin
Shadow was supposed to give away his position as Emperor over a year ago...
Xander Vos
November 2007 I believe? Or was it 08?
Either way, I don't think whoever would have taken over would have done as good a job, it's just that Shadow seems to feel the need to lie to the rest of the site, which is never a good policy... if you want to stay in power, stay in power, and let your actions demonstrate why you deserve it - like Rive does.
Rive Caedo
Absolutely. I don't understand why Shadow doesn't just put mind control agents in the logo, like I do.

'08, I believe. He's been pretty busy as of late though.

I KNEW you manipulated the logo contest into getting your own up there.
Lord Embeion
LOL! Ya I remember all the posts with everyone going " the bright blue hurts my eyes"
I remember when me and Jaden joined with our dual accounts and on like the second night Minious( lololnewb) PM'd me tryina boost posts in the activity threads. I also remember everyone hating Vexen because he was teh newb of the site and how I blasted past his rank in a month. I also remember when Shadow was looking for a new admin.. basically was setup for me to win. I was on there for quite some time actually. Then came the fateful day that Shadow tried to cancel the forum wars and I sent out the PMs that got my account jacked. I believe after some time Alex convinced me to post on the site with a new account. I think it was during the time when they were voting in a new leader. lolol

That's why I quit TDSL not once, but twice.
Xander Vos
Yeah Emby, your and Jaden's dual accounts was the first real 'saga' on TDSL, because we had no idea, and when it came out, it was a bit of a shock.
Lord Embeion
We didn't even tell anyone and then we kinda fell inactive and then told people here about them.
Dakoth
Ahhh memories. The massive forum wars troll debate threads..
Xander Vos
The Forum Wars would actually have been epic if Shadow hadn't done what he had done.... They failed because there weren't enough people on both sides. If everyone on this site had played as Jedi, and everyone on TDSL as Sith, the RPs would have been massive.
Lord Embeion
I just remember Shadow not getting one thing and him just qq ragin hard.
Xander Vos
In fairness, he just wanted people to be allowed to have a Jedi user on here and a Sith on TDSL, which Abba, SaV and Rive refused. I think I actually sided with Shadow in that debate.
Lord Embeion
I believe Dakoth was also against him. Ya but honestly. Pulling the thread between both sites completely was a wee bit of an overreaction because not everyone liked his idea.
Sirak Sazen
The answer is simple: he's a whiny brat.
Xander Vos
That's pretty much it Sirak, it really is sad that the two sites are no longer linked - that there are people on TDSL who have never heard of Rebels and vice versa.
Dakoth
No, what shadow did was politicking. He tied the completely unrelated forum wars to dual accounts. He wouldn't let one through without the other, for no other reason than to push his own aims. It was immature and had no place on a friendly roleplaying site.
Xander Vos
Hmm to be fair there was a link, because we were refusing to allow Sith from TDSL on here as Jedi because it would muddy the waters of the Forum Wars, but he still wanted them to be given the chance to RP as whoever they wanted on here.
Both sides had valid reasons at the time in all fairness, and it's just a pity he had to take such drastic action in response.
Dakoth
No one ever said you couldn't pick which side you played on. The only reason against dual accounts is it became confuisng as to whom you were actually speaking to, not to mention they were completely extraneous. It was childish offering that up as a reason.
Xander Vos
I'm not sure if he offered the point, but I at least always supported people using the same names on both sites, despite which side they took.
Dakoth
Eh, not like it matters any more. Mine as well bury the old scar.
Xander Vos
I guess. Unless enough TDSL guys on here (Devrin etc.) started a petition on there... though I doubt Shadow would do anything about it.
Dakoth
I'm quite sure Shadow wants nothing to do with something that would challenge his authority.
Xander Vos
It's dissapointing. If indeed TDSL is slipping, surely he'd see the opportunity to boost his site's activity?
Rive Caedo
| Xander Vos wrote: | | I'm not sure if he offered the point, but I at least always supported people using the same names on both sites, despite which side they took. |
That was always the case, I don't feel like digging it up since it's so far back, but I'm 98% sure I said something along the lines of:
"You can play whatever character you want. Sith, Jedi, Wampa, whatever. However, if we allow for people to move up the Jedi and Sith ranks (out of character) under two different account names --- what's even the point of being "sister sites"? We might as well be two entirely separate entities."
Which is what ended up happening, I suppose - heh.
Xander Vos
Ah well, it would be interested to have someone go back through the Graveyard - I'd nominate Sirak seeing as he seems to have done so already - and actually pen a "Brief History of the Rebels Forum" for our fifth anniversary next year, with each era covered.
Lord Embeion
I second Sirak

I nominate Maven.

Just to let everyone know, I got a message from Tanya (Jade Andreal on Rebels). GotF is going to make another recovery effort. I'm not sure how well that's going to work but if anyone wants to I'd appreciate the help.
I didn't take it too seriously, but Diego posted about and hour ago.

Anakin? As in the guy who used to be Revenous and was a double agent? I remember him. Dunno if he was.

He posted a picture of himself, he sure did look Hispanic.

Nope, two different people, same computer. Did I hear roommates? And this IP will be different, school library.
Xander Vos

Did you find out about this site from him?
Mathor

Yes, I was told about this site from him. But for the time being, I was told to stay away from GOTF untill he got it running? Whatever that is supposed to mean.
Xander Vos
How did he find out about the site?
Mathor
He says he was a member at some point. He says ask Sirak. He just told me he found out about GOTF from this site and moved over there. Apparently he had his name changed from Tanya to Adrian Storm and also created the Jade Andreal account. Ask him he would know more about it.
