People always look at an upcoming MMO and go " ITS THE WOW KILLER!" but so far they've all failed. Even hurt by it after there release because people won't leave WoW. This will be no different. Won't be a total failure though
WoW has MILLIONS of subscribes.. only time can kill it.
Or the new xpac...

Aww, are Sam's feelings hurt?

It's really not gonna kill WoW... I can already tell by these videos that the PvP is gonna be lacking so even if by Gods will every PvE player on WoW switched to TOR.. WoW could still survive on its PvPers... which would still be in the millions.
Your not Han Solo you can't beat the odds.

Ya I know what you were saying. I was just saying even if every PvE player did decide to leave for TOR that it still wouldn't kill WoW. All it would do is just cause server merges and some bad Devs would get put on other projects.

Aion has already set a record for preorders for an MMO and has 3 million players outside of America.
Meanwhile I have seen many people leave WoW due to WotLK and the most recent patches which do nothing but make th game more simple than it's already simplistic form. I do honestly believe TOR will take a bigger chunk of WoW than people think and WoW is on the downturn.
Now that they have announced Diablo 3, the largest part of it's playerbase is losing interest, which is people who grew tired of Diablo 2.
Now that SC2 will be out soon, Blizzard only gamers will soon stop playing WoW in favor the first Blizzard game not named WoW in 7 years (By the time SC2 comes out, anyways.)

WoW is slowly losing some support.
However, I don't believe it's dead, nor is it dying. Rather, it's a troubling time in its life span, though it will recover. Face it; it has a monopoly on MMOs (all other MMO's currently available are crap. AoC, Galaxies, and this looks like it). Diablo 3 will only, I believe, attract MORE people to Blizzard's products, including Wow, instead of diverting attention from WoW. I also think Cataclysm will be great (whoever was the mod who locked my post about Cataclysm is an idiot, and abused his/her powers).

New instanced starting zones, new class-race combinations, updating old content to make people want to level alts, progressing the storyline, creating more pvp areas, updating all racials, Worgen and Goblins, five more levels, a new profession, flying in Azeroth, high level zones in Azeroth, new progression modes, likely graphics update, tons of new abilities, new aesthetic abilities, higher customization, high level instances of higher quality, etc.
THAT makes a good expansion.
It's like Wrath of the Lich King: "How do you think a few new zones and a class can make a good expansion? It'll suck!". Whereas it was the fastest selling game in history, and a massive success.
Stop with the qq. This'll pwn, and you'll miss out.

Actually, you didn't. The War of Independance, as it is correctly called, was between France and Britain. Considering Britain was ruling 1/4 of the world at that time, they pulled out to deal with some more pressing issues.
So basically you had to get the French to fight for you. Then when you were actually a country, we raped you.

Not really.
The British were overextended in the War of Independance, and the colonies' 'victory' was heavily reliant on French distractions and attacks. Its outcome isn't clearly definable in any case.
Napolean was a genius, yet, but he was crushed by the British and Russians.
| SkywalkerAndVader wrote: | | And this is on topic ----- how? XD |
It's completely on-topic.
In summary, the US was utterly pathetic in comparison with Great Britain until the mid 20th century, when it became the greatest superpower in world history.
Today, the US is no longer as powerful (it's not even the richest nation on the planet anymore, simply the one that spends the most).

Two interesting things occurred this week regarding this game:
1. Coruscant was announced as a playable planet.
2. Much more importantly - beta signups began!
http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20090929_001
The bad news is that you need to be 18. And, if my internal Rebels timeline is correct: many of our users are still 17 or 16.
Tip: If you have multiple computers, you might want to sign up and submit the system scan from your "strangest" one. If you have a custom-built computer, submit from that rather than your pre-built dell/hp - what have you. Besides gameplay bugs, they're also wanting to know how the game runs on a wide variety of hardware - so the rarer/weirder your hardware is - the higher the odds they'll want to have the game run on your machine.
Early testing almost always has a strict non-disclosure agreement to it, but hopefully if multiple Rebels users make it in, they'll be able to adventure through the buggy early-version of the Old Republic together

I'm 15. I just lied about my age on the entry form.
Also, my computer has 1.97 GB of RAM according to the system scan...
Should I upgrade or no?
|
Rive Caedo

In interviews I believe they've said they want the game to be able to scale down pretty far to older systems (sort of like World of Warcraft does).
Since even a modern MMO that's not concerned with running on older systems like Age of Conan will run on 1GB of RAM (though 2 is recommended) - you're perfectly fine.
Even if you upgraded to 4 (or 3 I suppose), you'd probably be bottle-necked by your graphics card or CPU - so there'd be no gaming benefit.

Well if Bioware somehow manages to uphold their promise that each character class will have their own totally unique storyline for their leveling process, I suspect most people will end up rolling most/all of the classes sooner or later
There's still 3 character classes to reveal (4, but I think we can safely assume that at least 1 of the 2 unrevealed Republic classes is Jedi-based), so maybe one of them will catch my fancy - but at present I'm thinking I'll go with a Smuggler first.

Did you play the new Galaxies? Jedi were some of the weakest characters.
|
Rive Caedo

Bioware is not Sony
Presently - there's been almost zero talk of pvp anyway. So asking who will be "overpowered" seems to be moot.
There's little doubt that'll change (pvp will be talked about), but I'm just sayin'
Speculation is a bit tough right now. Jedi/Sith obviously have their nice defensive bonuses from blocking attacks, but Smugglers have been shown to have powerful stuns combos. Stun locks are potent in Warcraft, it's hard to say how powerful Bioware will make them.
The Bounty Hunter - so far - has appeared to be skilled at fighting 2-4 enemies at a time, but not so much 1 on 1.
We've received little information about the Trooper's play style.
|
Adenn
|
Now I'm torn between Bounty Hunter and Trooper. I can see what Dakoth is sort of saying, all the children are going to play as Jedi if they can get their hands on the game, so I might play the Dark Side. But...the trooper looks so...awesome...
