Here, young Ordo will learn the ways of the Force as well as the Jedi. All assignments will be posted here.

Your first assignment is to pick a form of combat. Tell me what it is and how it is used then why you would like to learn this form of combat.

Here it is:
Djem So, is, a form of lightsaber combat used primarily by the Jedi Order, though some Sith, few but powerful, have been known to use it. It was originally created by the users of Form III, who felt that it was better to, instead of waiting for an opportunity to strike, to instead make their own opportunity though aggressiveness. Another reason, was because they thought Soreso was too passive, and Ataru not aggressive enough. A neat thing about it was that it was the first form to use the lightsaber to deflect the bolt AT a target, instead of just deflecting it away. Unlike Soreso, the Djem So form was not for patient people. Instead of just going on the defensive, the second the opponent struck, they would strike back with one of their own strikes. It was meant for power, and often used flourishes, and large two handed, overhead strikes. Unfortunately, it had some shortcomings, such as predictability, and undermining of their own defenses because they are so wrapped up in the attack, such as what happened when Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader lost to Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. The best example of this form being is when Anakin Skywalker dueled Count Dooku on the Invisible Hand. He used brute force and power to overwhelm the Sith Lord. It is common for users of Djem So to lock swords, and force their opponent into a corner, as to make them more vunerable. Famous users of it are, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, The Jedi Exile, Cin Drallig, Aayla Secura, Grievous’ Bodyguards, and General Grievous. Luke Skywalker was not formally trained in the form, but instead learned it on the fly against Darth Vader. Darth Vader had a variation of it, due to the limitations his suit caused him. He used less flourishes, and his hand would hang by his side, the other one striking.

I would like to learn it because, as a bounty hunter, and a Mandalorian, I will be involved in a lot of firefights, sometimes with more experienced soldiers. Learning lightsaber combat will give me a superior edge in combat. The added advantage is that there may be a bounty for a Jedi or Sith, who usually wield lightsabers, and I need to be on top of the game there. It is also a good thing for deflecting blasterfire, as it is able to do so, and able to direct it AT a target, as as mentioned before. It will also give me the surprise factor, and the physiological factor. When people see a Mandalorian, they will think ‘bounty hunter’. But when they see a Mandalorian pull out a lightsaber and use it, they will think, ‘Jedi/Sith’, and that may cause them to lose face and/or run away. Another reason, just a personal one, is because there are just sometimes where I miss being a Jedi, and I want to wield the old stick.

The main purpose of Djem So, unlike other lightsaber forms, is to end the fight quickly and swiftly, without a lot of defensive maneuvers, and having to wait for our chance to strike.

Very good, next I want to pick a Jedi of your choosing and tell me why you pick them as well as how they standout as a source of inspiration to you. This assignment should be between 250-500 words. Choose wisely and may the force be with you, young padawan. Cool
Ordo

Yes Master. I am worried about this though. What if the person I pick is a bad egg? What if he is a Sith? That is not allowed though, probably.

Inspiration is a strong word. How does one inspire? Through teachings? Through legacy? Through power, even? Unfortunately, you asked for a Jedi. The one man that stands out as an inspiration to me would be Darth Vader. He taught that you should take zero nonsense, and to not give up. He left a legacy, one of the best Force-users in the galaxy, and the Chosen One. He had power enough in the force to come back from the bottomless pit of the Dark Side, even. But he is a Sith, not a Jedi. Even so, he was a Jedi at the beginning and end of his life, which I think is enough. Vader, even as a youngling, never gave up, and strived for the best he could be, even trying to be better than his elders. As a Padawan, he believed that one should feel what they felt, even though it was not considered right at the time. He may have been ruthless while serving as the Sith Lord, but he did it for a reason, which was not accepting failure, both from himself, and from his cohorts. He, unlike many, went onto the front lines to fight, and stuck with his troops. While he may have been a Sith Lord, what he thought he was doing was right. He thought that the Sith were bringing peace to the galaxy, he thought that the Jedi were corrupt.

As for the Jedi of my choosing, it would be Atris, the Jedi Historian. She saw what was wrong with the Order, and tried to fix it. She guarded the secrets of the Order, and knew infinite knowledge. Although she did fall to the Dark side, she was redempted later. She believed in the Order fully, and when the First Jedi Purge happened, she tried to restore it, and tried to make an Order in which Jedi would not be tempted by the Dark side.

Those are the Jedi that stand out and inspire me. I hope it wasn’t too……Sithish.

If you do not like my choosings, I will redo.

No no, that was ok. Indeed, it was very interesting. It is good to learn from the mistakes of those who fell so as to not follow in their foot steps. In turn, it is also very good to see the good in someone, even if it seems that all hope is lost in them. Jedi believe that no one is beyond redemption, so by studying these two figures, you have learn a very valuable idea of our Order. Once again, very impressive my young padawan. Cool

Thank you Master.

I await my next assignment.

For your next assignment, I have a very personal question to ask you. I have read up on your past a bit(your profile) and I'm a little curious; why do you want to become a Jedi? I mean as a bounty hunter and Madalorian, you are free to go were you wish and do whatever you want but as a Jedi you will not have such freedom. You will have to go as you are told by the council as well as your master. We have very strict guide lines that you must live by, so why trade-in your blaster for a saber; so to speak. You can put as much or as little personal thought into this assignment as you want, I'm just interested as in why? This is to be a 250 word or more paper.
Ordo

Ah......

Don't worry, I just want to know what draws you to the Order, that's all; relax. Laughing
