Rive's Art (Signature Breakdown: Oct 24th 2009)Most Recent Addition: March 8th, 2008
Note: I only did the coloring for this one.

Well let's start off with the quick image I did specifically for the forum, Rive, the Jedi drunk! :p
And here's a Clone Wars Yoda with some quick digital correction and coloring
Here's how the image looked before digital correction and coloring, it was quite large so the line in the middle is from the fact that my scanner wasn't large enough to get the whole image in one scan

A nice pic to accompany the disgruntled Anakin

Dork of Mordork

I like that Anakin one.

Another Obi-Wan, Episode II era Clone Wars.
Also tried my hand at converting 2 to wallpapers, a bit of a resize, a bit of shadow, a bit of an aura for Yoda, a chair for Obi-Wan. Bingo, wallpaper-style. (Click Thumbnail for full version)

Ooohh!! I know! Two things, he's not great at....not being great, lol, or a Sith. But, really I liked the wallpapers, they looked awesome!!
|
Rive Caedo
|
Who says I'm not good at being a Sith?
| Quote: | | With a slight click Rive removed the old and rusted lightsaber hilt from his belt clip under his cloak. In a fluid move the saber hissed to life and the crimson gleam filled the room. The Jedi stood his ground as Rive seemed not to walk towards him, but simply grow in menace. There was a slight flinch from the Jedi as Rive drew his saber up to ready a swing... This wasn't a fight worthy of Darth Caedo's time. With a slight flick of his non-saber wielding hand the Jedi's saber was summoned into Rive's gloved hand. The Jedi attempted to back up to the wall, but was cut down long before he could even do that. |

Whoa, Rive, lol...
Lol mind if I use that Yoda pic for my screen wallpaper?
|
Rive Caedo
|
I don't mind at all
Though you might want to use the version I made specfically for that purpose if you missed it. That's what I put it there for. I was using the normal version for my wallpaper before however, so they both work if you prefer that.

Don't know why I'm in such a photoshoppy mood this evening, but here's yet another coloring job, digital redo of the first image I posted. This one was alot harder because it already had color, and I had to remove it, whch also removed a bunch of the lines... So I had to replace those digitally... then... Well anyway, all in all it was a mess, but I'm rather pleased with the result considering all the problems. If nothing else, it was a good color study.

Well, you can just look up top to see the final version, but here was the evolution of the new logo.
Initial Formatting
Texture added
Glow and blur added, aslo a bit of brightness and saturation toned up
Starfield added to blend with background, made semi-transparent

All of these pic. are really really cool Rive.

Somewhat inspired by Mordork's sigs and my little logo thing I put together a banner of my own. Sort of an Order 66 theme.
|
Lady Saber

Order 66!! Lol, JK. These are really cool, Rive.

Last in the series of colorizing my old Clone Wars sketches, this one was so large I had to scan it in 4 seperate sections and reassemble it, thus why the sketch version looks a bit odd

Saber: Of course I made 'em
Well... I mean it was basically just adding some text to an image and messing around with it until it was fitting and readable... But yeah.
Here's some more... real art.
A wallpaper version of the Anakin picture I made.
I kinda like the idea for this one. Anakin being lit up by the last bit of light from the hologram before it fizzles away.

Revised version of Ani Wallpaper. (Click for Full Version)
Fixes:
1. Hologram effect changed to look more faded away.
2. Hologram moved into correct position on wrist projector.
3. Got rid of flat line seperating brown from black at the top of the hood. Blended now.

In my never ending quest for improvement... I did a redo on some parts that were annoying me.
Redo
Old

Don't have an eye for detail? Here's what changed...
1. I didn't know how to compresss repetitive images (Stuff that doesn't move). I was forced to leave out the "Rive Caedo" because it doubled the data size of the image... (The old version is actually two seperate images next to eachother) Now it's all one image with hardly any increase in data size.
2. I was forced to compress the colors in the old one (Using 32 colors instead of 256+) to keep the data size now. Because all the non-moving parts are now block loaded I saved so much space I could use the full colors now. Makes the eye look better and more "blended" most obviously.
3. The right Cylon's eye no longer grows as it goes to the left, it shrinks just like when it goes to the right.
4. The left Cylon's eye no longer simply vanishs when it hits the front of the Cylon, it now turns the corner.
5. The left Cylon's eye shrinks as it follows the track to the right, like it should.
Also here's the two versions of the little banner I threw together for Sam for translating the Aurabesh in the wallpaper further below.
The Aurabesh he translated runs down the sides of this wallpaper I made.
It reads "The Galaxy Shall Suffer"

Lady Saber

I LOVE THAT!!! I'm gonna use it as my desktop background if it's ok with you. That's just awesome, Rive.

Not to rush you, but are you gonna do the Shaak wallpaper?
|
Rive Caedo

Maybe, I think I'll go for a Clone Wars theme though, not realistic.
Also of note Lyn is this...
Good first worksheet. It's the only piece of Aurebesh that appears in the films and actually means something... Well... The 2004 DVD made "Tractor beam" appear in aurebesh in Episode IV too.
|
Lyn Korak
|
That doesnt look too hard ... it might be. I dunno.

| Quote: | | What does that mean? lol. |
It means that this image...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Anakinturnaround.PNG
Appears on the viewscreen in the cockpit of the N-1 fighter Anakin is using in episode 1. It's what R2-D2 tells Anakin to do.
There's a bunch of Aurebesh in Return of the Jedi... But it doesn't mean anything. It's giberish.

Okay then. Thanks.

They were too large files to use as an actual avatar, but here's some more shiny examples of my GIF work.
Grah, still annoyed that I couldn't get the files small enough to make 'em an avatar.

Just recieved a third translation. Enough to make it worth my time. Huzzah!
Everything now is just gravy.

Rive, I think I am getting the hang of this Aurebesh. Some of the Aurebesh 'letters' look like English, lol.
|
Rive Caedo

If you twist your head on alot of them

Lol. yeah, i noticed that.

Not sure if I ever linked the original one in this thread... So here's that one too

3D and sabers oh my!This appears to be my earliest attempt to do some 3D animation (6.4 MB download)
(Credit for Star Destroyer conversion goes to Night4554)
(Credit for the Falcon conversion goes to Lance Brown)
(Credit for the TIE Fighter goes to Jim Bassett)
Looks pretty lousy. The camera is jumpy and overall it's just not good.
It was my first attempt at working in a 3D modeling program (Blender) though, so I give it some credit.
If anyone likes it I might upload some more recent attempts.
Things to watch for:
Me being stupid and trying to do a barrel roll on my first attempt at animating... Took forever to figure out how to make it look even half-decent.
The "boost" noise I used as the Falcon does the barrel roll is actually an amplified sound the time machine makes in Back to the Future if I recall correctly.
The Falcon is waaaay too big in comparison to the star destroyer (the TIE even more so). I wasn't really worried about scale though
If that wasn't enough here's something else!
Note: You'll need the DivX codec to play these. I was trying to keep the size down on the files. (www.divx.com
I took this stunt footage (thanks to theforce.net) and added sabers, clashes, and sounds to it.
The right side of Maul's saber is a bit crooked at the end and the clashes should have had some transparency applied... But overall I'm pretty happy with this one.
Sabered Footage (2.1 MB Download)

whoa! do you think you could make a 3D animation of just a ship flying towards coruscant for me to use in my fan film?

The animations was great for a first try. But I think there are also physics problems with it. Like when the star destroyer first comes out of hyperspace it seems to float around as if it was just placed in water. But overal very good.
