Guide: Posting your Fanart

The most common question is: How do I post my fanart?

Well first you need to get it on your computer, this is done through a scanner or if need be: A digital camera picture of it.

Then you need somewhere to host it online. There are several places to do this however www.photobucket.com is probably the fastest, simplest, and overall easiest. Furthermore the state in their policy that

Quote:
Photobucket.com claims no ownership interest in the images posted by you at Photobucket.com

So anything you put there: They don't own. Some sites attempt to claim ownership of any images you post. You don't want that if you're posting your original art do you? Very Happy

One you have it uploaded to a website for hosting, to post it directly into your post you need its direct URL.

If you're using Firefox (www.getfirefox.com) simply right-click the image and select "Copy Image Location"

If you're using Internet Explorer Crying or Very sad right-click the image, select "Properties" look at the "Address (URL)" field and copy the URL from there.

Once you have your URL ready to go you're ready to post your image.

In your post, simply hit the "Img" button on the same line as the Bold, Italics, Underline, and quote options.

That should insert this piece of code (you could also type it in manually)

After that, paste in your URL for the picture (Ctrl+V) so it looks sort of like this

Now you just need to close your code after the url with another piece of code, like this
[/img]

With your full 3 piece code in place you can now post your image directly into your post

Huzzah!

(Alternatively you can simply paste in your URL, highlight it, then hit the "Img" button and it'll put in both pieces of code for you)

For pictures that photobucket size down because the file size is too large I found a site that will allow up to 200 and some K of a file. This is www.tinypic.com.

Unlike photobucket you do not need to sign up for it but you do not make a folder of your own pics. There is no way of saving it so once you upload your image take the code and post it before trying to upload anything else. Wink

Just wanted to share my find with all of you because I have run into this problem and now I found a way to get around it.
