Me New Fanart thread.

woohoo. after digging around my garage, i found my old old computer. the one with PhotoImpact 10SE on it. (YAY!) Although photoimpact is from 2005, and the computer is from 2003, they still work fine, so i am reviving my signature making. of course, i probably can't compete with anyone here on sigs, so i doubt there will be any requests, and most of sigs are the same thing, but with different images, i still will post them to a.) show i can do something, and b.) a couple more things in the post count. Laughing JK!
My First time making anything, i thought it was good. i had to relearn everything, so it took a while.


my second one, one that i was much familiar with the controls.

I will be updating this whenever i make something. so, yeah. any comments/constructive criticism will be welcome.

my new avatar that i made. at just 6.6kb, i could have expanded this so much more and still probably would have been under the limit of 23KB.


one i made that started with a jedi theme, and ended with a grievous/jedi theme. enjoy.


an Anakin Skywalker themed one. i think it turned out pretty well. the anakin from episode 2, the from 3, then as a sith, with a nice faded anakin over the top.

Embeion, if you're not going to say anything useful - don't bother posting it. It's not even funny after the first time.

Feathering is a function that blurs the edges of your selections. See how your Grievous and Anakin ones have hard, flat edges? Feathering fixes that once you learn how to use it.

Here's an example of one I just recently did for Butler's new avatar:



See how the bottom of the image is faded?  That was a somewhat circular selection that, instead of just cutting right away and making a hard-edged circle, I feathered by 15 pixels or so to let it fade away naturally.

I'm not sure if Photoimpact has feathering, but GIMP (free) does. That's what most people here use. If you're relearning things anyway - I'd go with that.

Soft edge, most likely. I can't remember what it was when I had it, but I think soft edge (with the eraser) or fade.

which one is better. GIMP confuses me too much. i like PhotoImpact. its like photoshop for stupid people.

I feel the same way...I can't tell which is better, cause Gimp confuses the heck out of me.

GIMP doesn't confuse me at all since I've been using it for over a year lol. If I got photoshop it would probably confuse me.

I made something that is promising, but i messed up on saving it. if anyone could help me and make it just the signature that would be nice. I think this is the perfect job for Super Rive!!!!!

You probably could crop all that white stuff out. I think most basic editors have cropping abilities, though I don't know how to do that on yours.

i tried like 50 times but messed it up everytime, but Rive can do anything. plus he will probably be on in like, an hour or so. for some reason, a lot of people get on at 1 in the morning. Confused

This image is an image of hope, truth, and democracy, not unlike Barack Obama's campaign. I made it in 40 minutes, and I consider it my crowning achievement. At first I was making it for me, to silence all those who hate the pear by forcing them to look at it every time they read one of my posts, but then I realized, no, I was making it for Rive, who taught me that the pear shouldn't be overused, resulting in me overusing it.

And now I present to you a beacon of hope in our darkest hour:

This tutorial looks to be pretty similar to what I do. Except I usually do it with classical music instead of that crap Wink

Anway, here it is. No hilt, so I'll just say the hilt is black. Also, the blade is somewhat screwy. I'll make a better one later.

I guess. I'm not that good though. Rive is usually reliable. Pectoris is really good, but he doesn't seem to be on all that much.

After that one, i realized i could have rendered the lens flare in a different way. As shown with this one:

I probably should have done blue for Barack, to go along with the party colors, but purple shows up better. Laughing And I do realize it all. McCain, old, with red lightsaber ready. Barack, young(comparitively) with purple lightsaber and his left hand out with the force. Rive shop the candidates heads over the heads of Sidious/windu. Razz

Because of all the use of caps lock, I decided to make a signature dedicated to the master of real life caps lock, Billy Mays. I made 10 different things, some having big differences from the one before, others were erasing a simple edge. I will post them all. The last one is the one I liked best(And i wasn't going to go further Laughing).

I'm saying this as heterosexually as possible, I love you Rive. Sam, that is a sick sword. Detail is great, like how you can see the purple glowing off the hilt.
