Leon's Update ThreadI was told that because Leon has joined the Military I was allowed to create a thread to update everyone on his status and how things are going since he won't be coming back for two years. He'll get on for sure when he takes leave around Christmas, but thats a long time away. I want to keep every one up on how he is doing in training, where he's going, and the fact that he's still alive and breathing!He left today, his flight to Fort Benning left sometime this afternoon I believe. He had to stay at some hotel the night before and get up and go to take a mini physical before he left. I am praying for him. I am having a hard time with this concept of him leaving. As his wife, I've cried an aweful lot and I have a request for everyone to do please. Pray for him, keep my Christopher in your prayers. I'll be updating often so keep an open eye. When I get my first letter, I'll copy it down exactly how he writes it. Thank you. |

You might get lucky. President Obama plans to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq. While it won't happen overnight, Leon(Or Christopher, whatever you prefer to call him) may be with some of the first troops to be withdrawn.
And yes, you and Christopher are in my thoughts and prayers. |

He just went into basic. Obama is going to pull them out in 16 months he says, but that isn't soon enough. He'll go the basic for 9 weeks. After that, its A-school for like 4 months and then they'll station him. He might get sent over. | ||||

Oh. Well that would make me feel so much better, but he still has a potential of dying. Death....I wouldn't be able to live my life without him. If he dies while he's there, I'll lose everything. All I can do is pray and pray and pray. | ||||

Stay positive. Statistics state that soldier death rates have gone down considerably. We have gone quite a few months now with under 10 casaulties combined.
He is in good hands. Keep praying and never think negative. |

10....no offense but thats still 10 soilders who will never get to come home. Thats STILL ten people. 1 of those is some one's husband, who could have children or be pregnanat with a child. 1 of those could be a single father, whose only son doesn't have anyone in the world. 10 lives is still 10 lives.....sorry....I'm babbling. I'm a worried wife, you can't expect much.

I love the United States... I hate what it's being transformed into, but I still have hope.... a little hope.... My heritage? Split: German (German and Austrian, actually) and British. About 50-50, but a tad more British, and I culturally relate to England more. I also admire the Gothic architecture and history of Germany, and have taken a near-obsession with the country (particularly in its pre-World War one era). I don't hate the United States. Even in its purest form, I love liberal ideas. It's just some liberal opinions that displease me: socialist/communist systems, lack of military usage (I'm not a warmongering psycho, but I believe the muscle of an army MUST be used to maintain peace when diplomacy fails), seclusion ideas (introversion-politics), abortion,.... I'm actually for gay marriage to be recognized by the state.... not Church, but state.... separation of Church and state is acknowledged by liberals as well as conservative (well, non-fanatical conservatives), but it's a liberal idea I support. |

o.O Invitus is right about Brittian but still. War is not good and for those wives at home, waiting for their son, their brother, their lover, anyone they love, I pray for them. It will take awhile for letters. Leon isn't in very good shape and he's going to be working so hard, he'l be tired all the time. When one comes I'll post LETTER 1 at the top and type the letter under it.

For the record...my ancestors are immigrated Germans, the culture is great, and though I study Communism, it's awful, and not really something to joke about - so what's the big deal, Invictus? It's getting old. Eh, I should say that we should talk about this elsewhere, so...let me be hypocritical by telling you all to move discussion of Communism, wars and the like elsewhere. |

I'll try to quickly end my off-topic... ness here: 1) Only East Germany was Communist, and that was for a short time. 2) Communism isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's an economic system. The Soviet Union was evil, not Communism. 3) When I post Soviet stuff, it's out of pure admiration for their great operas (I am an amateur critic of operas....) NOT for their human rights abuses. There, I'll get back on topic now. Wait, Leon is heading where, exactly? He's still in training, right? |

Yes. He's still in training. He went to Georgia, to Fort Benning (I think thats the name of the fort) and I know how tired he is going to be so I am anxiously waiting for his first letter so I can start writing him everyday.

Alright!!! Today is our 1 year anniversary!!! So I was etting ready to go see a Basket ball game for my step sister when I got a phone call! From Georgia! My Dad was all, its most likely a wrong number. I looked at him and said, "Or Christopher!" I finally got to talk to him and he's doing alright.
He hasn't gotten to Basic yet. The phone he used was staticky so I couldn't hear him very well ad he said something like poeple were sick and him and couple of other guys were doing fine. I'm so excited!!! So he's safe. I know he's safe now and he made it safely. |

Okay well, I got letters!! Yay!
So here is what I know. He's going to be moving to Fort Jackson I think, I know he isn't going to stay at Fort Benning. I got the first letter and I was going to post it but I don't think thats a good idea now so I won't. He liked it at first and he was doing alright but as the week went on he hates it and he can't get out now. No dihonarable discharges. Its hard on him, I knew it would be. I also know that he can pull through. All and all he's doing ok. I hope he is making friends, but you never know. He put me down as his 5% benificary and I told him not to do that, that I could take care of myself. Ugh. Oh well. So thats whats going on right now. |

Alright I got more letters. He isn't at permanent base yet so I am not really sure when I will be able to send me my replies. I was goingto post the letters, I was, but I'm pretty sure people don't want to read about our romance life and our problems.
He's doing better I think. As a private he gets most of the Sh.it people dish out so I hope he pulls through. He'll be transfering soon. |

He calls me every sunday, or so I have noticed. He's been in Basic for four days now and he is doing well for now. I am almost positive he changed locations but I know that he is still in Georgia. He called me from that area. I guess things with him are going good, he got his dog tags. A dog of the Military. I'm going to tell him that. Congradulations, your a dog of the Military. *sighs* I'm going to be that worried out of my mind wife for the rest of my life now that he's enlisted. Oh well. So thats how things are going. I hope he is surviving basic alright, you never know with the Army. |

From what I hear it is frustrating. God knows that man needs bonds with some one other than me, his family, and the internet. I know he's going to love doing it and I'm so proud of him. Oh I am NOT waiting on him. As far as I am concerned, this is something we are fighting for together. I'm at home and to be truthful he is waiting on ME to turn 18 so that I can drive up and be with him. I just recently relized how I am not attrached to any other guys in the sense that I would actually touch them. I get around them and I only think of my husband away in the Army. I think how I may not get to see him today, or tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or two months, but I will get to see him again. Soon. He'll be back home in my arms safe and sound soon. And I am very proud of him! You too Crozzie. Good job. |

From Leon. Dear Karea, Tuesday, 17 March 09. You really should watch what you say in letters to me. I need to explain some sh** before I lose my mind. 1. I am NOT paranoid about jail. A Drill Sergant told me it was illegal nd I could go to jail if the higher ups found out. I found out the next day from DS Brewer that 16 was the legal age. So excuse me for believing what a DS tells me. 2. I misunderstood that angry letter. ((I Was pissed Christopher!)) I thought you wanted to leave me, so I wrote to my mom saying "hi", and explained that you "left me" ((YOU DID WHAT?!!?!)). Godd***** I need you to tell her thtthe stuff about you isn't true and tht want you to come on my graduation. 3. How DARE you write that. "Charles says he loves me. He calmed me down." ((He did calm me down. 9.9)) No I won't say that. You're stressed and hurt, I'm stressed and hurt. This is all f***** up. My motivation died for like 2 days. I have it now though. Jesus. I hate Charles. BRM is Basic Rifle Marksmanship. I scored a 28/40 on qualifying day. It was great! So far I've shot the 249 SAW, M240B, the MK-19 gernade lancher, and the M2 50 Calibur. ((What ever those are!)) Look them all up, see what they're like. I've been having a lot of fun! Friday I'll be repeling off Eagle Tower ((Oh! Oh! I know what THAT is!!!)) which is about 50 ft tall. No problem IMO. (I have a zit that needs popping. Help me? ((Ugh gross))

Is all I've ever fired in real life is an old single shot rifle. We set some buckets up and fired at them. I hit one of the buckets, but it wasn't the one I was aiming for. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Oh well, I'm sure that Leon enjoyed firing those guns, good for him!
