I'm not sure if a topic was brought up, but I honestly didn't see one. Search yielded a couple of results in a thread or two, but nothing genuinely ontopic about the game.

So....here's one.

The demo became public yesterday(or two days ago), and it's available for free on Steam.

Almost everyone on my ventrilo server is getting the retail game, and have already downloaded the demo. Just the first 2 levels are flat out a blast. My vent buddies and I play them over and over again. The AI Director makes the zombies/bosses spawn in different locations almost everytime, which makes playthroughs less repetitive than you'd think.

So many epic things have happened, from holding off a horde of zombies, to jumping into the fray to save someone. I definitely recommend some of you guys getting it. My Steam ID is still the same, ramen1215, so if anyone wants a game or two, just hit me up. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

If you have the computer to run it, it's an awesome game, Sam. And if you have vent, which I'll presumptuously guess you do, just PM me for my vent info. We haff hot females, I swear(not really, it's a sausage fest).

And yeah, Scion's been on before, and we do curse and swear a bit, so be warned. Once Scion got on, he was never the same. I think he cried in his bed for a week.

So....yeah, more on the game...Awesomeness.

Saw this at E3. I've always loved zombies and I expect this game to be better than Resident Evil 5.

Rive isn't very good, but enjoys games from a mostly non-competitive standpoint. You wouldn't see me going for those fancy achievement points or trying to be the best at any one game (although I do think it's neat when I happen to get one in the normal course of play).

And I think at least half the reason I join MMOs is because it still AMAZES me that we've progressed far enough to have hundreds of players from all around the world playing alongside one another simultaneously.

Speaking of which, I just played another quick round of Left4Dead while Wrath of the Lich King installed. I'm a bit more impressed, but I think I'm satisfied enough with the demo to not need the real game Razz

Besides, I'm way behind, I still need to pick up Fallout 3. I'm in gaming backlog, a roleplaying backlog, a fan fiction backlog, a...

First off, Fallout 3 fixes every problem I had with Oblivion.

Second, I would go to Vent more if I had a mic, which I don't.

Nextly, I am in the process of downloading this now, I have a great desire to play it.

Lastly, this game is garaunteed better than RE5, whiched whored out to Co-op, while this was built around it.

Fourthly, I am currently tied up with LBP, Fallout 3, R2, D2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Clear Sky, Crysis: Warhead, and soon Left 4 Dead. Companies seriously need to stop releasing the best games all within 3 months of eachother. It feels like ages ago when all I played was MGS4.

This game's versus mode is so fun. Playing as a boss infected can be summed up in one word: epic.

The game isn't about singleplayer. It's about short campaigns with plenty of replay value. There's also 2 different game modes, co-op and versus. Versus is amazing, allowing you to play as the boss infected.

I think what I'll do is wait for Half Life 2: Episode 3 to come out.
That'll be $20 most likely (like the previous episodes).

Then I'll buy the $100 "Valve Complete Pack"

Which'll get me Left4Dead, Episode 3, and all the Valve titles I didn't get with the Orange Box for only $30 extra.

... which is I guess is just Day of Defeat and some of the old Half-Life expansions. Gah.

I don't know what I'll do. I just don't want to pay $50 for this right now - I can't see myself playing it enough to get that much value out of it.

Maybe when Half-Life Episode 3 comes out they'll release a "Green Box" or something including Left4Dead and Episode 3 (and previous Half-Life content) for a low cost.

I love l4d, of course my experiences with rather stereotypical things happening constantly to some of my anti-zombie entourage led us all to think if it was perhaps intentional....

It's still a bit more expensive than the weekend deal I missed, but this is a very reasonable price. Likely associated with the recently released DLC package.

No no, I mean the price drop was associated with the DLC. It's fairly common to do something like a price drop when something new comes out related to a game - be it a large update or a sequel.

It is a pretty easy game, once you know the best positions, and since there are only four short campaigns, it doesn't take long to know that.

I haven't run into many more, actually, since I've been playing survival almost exclusively and witches don't show up there (but tanks do - tons and tons of tanks).

Although the first one I encountered in the demo before the game came out tore me to pieces Razz

It's actually really easy to do - you just run up and point-blank-range her head with a shotgun. I'm surprised only 18% of Left4Dead players have done it.

I don't expect to ever get any of these achievements Razz

Luckily I'm not achievement-crazy. I think they're cute and fun and can sometimes give you neat ideas at how to play the game a special way, but I don't go out of my way to get them.

I've got crowned and safety first. All you have to do is play it on easy and don't shoot each other. I am pretty close to getting What Are You Trying To Prove

I suppose that's true. Playing on Easy and making a special effort not to hit eachother would make it significantly easier to get "Safety First".
Although I still think it'd be pretty easy to frak the whole thing up with a stray bullet during the finale event.

And that constitutes making a special effort to get an achievement anyway, which means I'm not likely to do it Laughing

One of my friends has all 4 of those achievements. I myself didn't cr0wn my first witch, but she didn't damage me and I got the Witch Hunter (or something like that) achievement. I got cr0wned later as I walked down some stairs during No Mercy and capped her in the back of the head before she even got up.

Bah, I need a job this summer. I had an opportunity to play this at a bud's house and became enthralled. It's an excellent game, a lot of fun.

My prefered method of zombie execution is simply to box them with the melee attack. It's pretty entertaining.

Note: Don't try it with the boomers.

Left4Dead (PC version) will be available FREE to play this Friday.

You can start downloading now via Steam and it will unlock midnight GMT on Friday.

Note that GMT is about 4 hours ahead of the US East Coast and 7 hours ahead of the West Coast. So it'll actually unlock at around 8pm Thursday on the East Coast and and 5pm Thursday on the West Coast.

So anyone reading this without the game: Feel free to give it a shot.
And anyone with the XBox version: Feel free to try the power of a mouse Razz

But seriously, they lower the Steam price to $40 and lower the retail price to $30 (which I bought). And then like - a week later - they put the steam version on sale.
