Jediism?I've recently read about a full religion of people who practice the teachings of Jedi. The "religion" is called Jediism. It's pretty freaky (my opinion) but recent censuses say nearly 500.000 people worldwide claim to practice it. A majority of that number is probably people trying to be funny, but still. 500,000? A Jedi Church in Texas even has the right to legally marry people. Comments?

Ha, we had a thread about this before and it was the general consensus that it was all just a joke (and a form of political protest - a way of saying "I don't want to tell you my religion on a census document"). The folk in Texas are the subset of people who took the joke too seriously.
All hail George Lucas, prophet of the living Force and the bringer of TaunTauns

That disturbs me greatly...
And that brings up the question...who the hell would want to be married by a Jedi?

Total Star Wars freaks? It sounds like one of those Vegas-style wedding chapel things.

As a person from Reno I feel it is my duty to say this.
VEGAS COPIED THE THEME WEDDING CHAPELS. RENO DID IT FIRST.

And Lo, Revan defeated Malak and saved the Jedi Order. Afterwards, he went to the outerest of rims and took on the Ancient Sith. Ash-la.

Yes, there is. Just not as many as there are Jedi. And they know that they aren't Sith, they just share some practices of the Sith (none that involve killing though). I'm by no means an expert, but I met someone who was one and took it pretty seriously on another site a long time ago. You can google "Sith Religion", some of them are probably a joke, but you can look into them if you want.

I Joined some forums in 2006 of people who were serious about it. They weren't crazy, it was just what they believed(Not stuff like You can push people with the force but good deeds and stuff). Pretty nice people, I jsut didn't get into it.

They even have "Sith" in Jediism.

Yes, I heard about this ageeeees ago. This has been going on for a long while. It's pretty sad, how can something one man MADE UP, possibly be true? It doesn't make sense. It's really, really sad to see some people take a movie to this level.

If you read the article, it says about how 3 Jediism practitions marched to the United Nations demanding that the Internation Day of Peace be changed to the Interstellar Day of Peace. Two were dressed in Jedi robes, the other dressed as a Wookie. Incredible.

Its sarcasm of course. They're just mocking the idea of religion.

No. Maybe it started out as a joke that way, but one Jedi Church is able to perform Marriages. In Texas! People are actually believing it. And for how wild it is, why haven't i heard a peep about Scientology. Honestly, 75 million years ago The overlord of the Galactic Federation took all the alien species and Hydrogen Bombed them on Earth, transporting their bodies in cruisers that looked like DC-8s? Totally not crazy in any way.

Sorry Sam, couldn't hear you with all these thetins on me.
Scientology is the funniest thing in the world.

I mean come on! Only 200 dollars for a thetan auditing level.
And if you pay 5,000 dollars for the OTIII thing, you can levitate objects with your mind. If you can't, you have to pay for it all over again until you can. Tell me again why this religion it tax-exempt?
