Jedi Twilight *Spoilers*

Well, just picked up this book today, so I'll let you know how I find it as I read it. First point that I'm slightly puzzled about, was when I flicked to the timeline of books - because I like checking if they have any new books on it - to find that not only didn't they have any new books (I was thinking Mindor, Order 66, Falcon, etc.) they didn't even have Twilight! Confused
Darth Samuel

what is this one about?

*doesn't read first post due to spoilers*

Just picked this up, since it has 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com right now. Sounded like a better option than trudging into the second half of Legacy Razz

Also seemed like a good choice to amp up for Force Unleashed next month, since it's the same era.

No spoilers in first post, hadn't started it yet.

VERY good though, and nice choice Rive, I'm enjoying it immensly and am only about 60 pages in. THIS IS WHAT STAR WARS SHOULD BE. List of interesting characters and the return of some side-characters who make sense to be around, good action, good humour, good fun. None of that whinging Fett, or super Mandos, or evil domineering Sith, just pure action fun.
Darth Samuel

okay, but what era is it? what is it about?

oh, and 190,000th post. Very Happy

Congratulations Rebels! Very Happy

It's set after Episode Three, in the Dark Times, from the perspective of many people, mainly Nick Rostu from Shatterpoint, Jax Pavan, of whom's father was Lorn Pavan from Shadow Hunter who was killed by Maul, and Den Dhur and I-5 from the Medstar Duology, with I-5 also from Shadow Hunter.

It's kind of the next in the 'series' with the series being:

1 X Shadow Hunter

2 X Medstar Books

3 X Coruscant Nights books
Darth Samuel

ah okay. i have only read shatterpoint, so i need to read other things first i guess.
Xander Vos

Well actually, that's the perfect book to read first, though Shadow Hunter and the Medstar books would help, but at least Shatterpoint introduces Nick Rostu.

*reads first post now that it's confirmed spoiler free*

I did the exact same thing! I didn't care that it didn't mind that it didn't have Mindor, but they ALWAYS add the book that you're reading to the timeline. I checked Wookieepedia to make it sure it wasn't some strange non-canon book Razz

I only made it half-way through the first chapter last night. Not enough to get any impression whatsoever since it was just (necessarily) describing the Coruscant Undercity for the 1,000th time, heheh.
Xander Vos

I liked the way it described the city-planet, made it actually seem big for once.

Bwahaha. You're right. This is nearly a textbook definition of the direction I said post-Episode III pre-Episode IV material needed to go in, at least so far (only 50 pages in). I only hope that...
1. They can keep up the tone set thus far for all 3 books in the Coruscant Nights trilogy.
2. They use a similar style for the TV Show set in this time period.

Spoilers up to page 50.
Spoiler:

Yay for them already using the term "stormtroopers" instead of "clonetroopers" only 3 months after the Empire's inception!

I was a bit worried when it seemed - from the opening - that we'd be getting a story of The Last Jedi fighting the good old fight and cutting down stormtroopers by the dozens as he did so (which is the direction I DIDN'T want post-III stories to go in). Then they killed him off almost instantly Razz

It's nearly impossible not to notice the overuse of folksy sayings being made "Star Warsy" now that it's been pointed out to me. Check out page 11. We get "The troopers would cut him down like a ripe yahi'i stalk if he turned his back" followed almost immediately by "Iolu's vibroshield had opened him up like an overcooked Balawai meatpie" on the next page X_X

Xander Vos

Looks like we're about level with each other then, nothing below will spoil you based on being up to page 50.

Spoiler:

I liked the inclusion of a well known Jedi like Even, as well as his almost immediate death, shows that the Stormies aren't rotten yet. Razz Nick Rostu's inclusion was a great surprise as well as he just popped out of existence.

The humour used is also really good, and - whilst I love Allston dearly - not over the top like his is sometimes, and not strained like Traviss' is. I really am enjoying this so far. Up to page 90 I think.

Must say though, you might feel it too based on where you are, it takes a while for the story to kick off? That's my only complaint, that each character got a chapter devoted to them for a while as everyone got set up, and it dragged a bit in my opinion, but that's been my only complaint.

Spoiler:

There was a little bit too much information about what led them up to this point over the past three months, but not enough to say it dragged, I think.

As for the set up period, it reminded me a bit of the first season of "Heroes", if you watched that at all. So I didn't mind.

Xander Vos

Spoiler:

Oh, I didn't mind, it was just getting to the point where if it had gone on much longer it would have gotten on my nerves, lol.

Xander Vos

Finished it this morning, VERY enjoyable read, looking forward to the next one.
