Rive Caedo

In Your Shadow Lies Your True Self

Lanik just spurred the idea for this.
Basically, since most of us play almost exclusively characters based on our ranking system (IE: I play mostly Jedi - or at least 'good' characters, due to being under the Jedi Ranking System), I thought it'd be a bit of fun to have a little roleplay where you're forced to mix things up.

So, in this roleplay take one of your characters from your ranking system - and play them as the opposite faction.

This Roleplay is, of course, non-canon (or, at least, part of a seperate "Mirror Universe canon"). So feel free to drag a character from any time period.

If you're outside of the the Ranking Systems - play a character that would be the logical opposite of your own. I think that's only smugglers and Grey Jedi right now, so...

Smugglers would play either Bounty Hunters or police forces.
Grey Jedi can play either Light or Dark literalists. Meaning, while a Grey Jedi sees the world in tones of grey and makes ambiguously moral decisions and uses powers from both sides of the Force, a literalist would do his/her best to use powers exclusively from their side of the coin and sees the world in black and white.

Rive Caedo snapped the upper guard coil of his lightsaber back into place. It was his ritual to deconstruct, clean, and rebuild his saber's hilt before a mission. It kept it looking like the day it had been built over thirty years ago. It also kept the crystals in perfect alignment, which had the minor benefit of keeping the blade focused and allowing it to cut through dense metals slightly faster than an ill maintained saber.

With a familiar snap and a hiss, the crimson blade ignited and hummed briefly before Rive deactivated the saber. Clipping the hilt back on his belt, Rive smiled, it wasn't everyone who could properly take apart and reassemble a lightsaber while being bumped along in the back of a hovercraft.

The hovercraft was carrying himself and other Sith to a Jedi outpost on this world.

An ionic storm had inexplicably shifted and consumed Endor's "Sanctuary Moon". The Jedi and Sith outposts on the planet had maintained an uneasy peace due to the understanding that both outposts were simply landed corvettes. If any attacks was attempted by either side - the corvette's sensors would detect it and the defenders could simply lift off and leave the planet.

However, the ionic storm was disrupting all electronics on the planet - preventing the ships from lifting off until the storm would clear up or move on in a few hours. So the Sith had decided to strike.

The hovercraft, immune to the ionic storm's effects due to its repulsorlifts not being electronically started, stopped rocking from dodging trees and drew to a stop. They were at the perimeter of the small clearing that the Jedi's mid-sized corvette was set down in. Rive was near the lever, so he pulled it and opened the back hatch to the hovercraft's rear hold. He straightened his black robes and stepped into the light.

The sky was eerily beautiful and crackled with the purplish blue stellar storm... it seemed to be more fitting for the end of a world than this minor skirmish.

((This is basically intended just to be a "Battle" roleplay, but I've made this opening post a bit longer than most posts would be, just because I wanted to make evident the style of the roleplay.
The "real" Rive Caedo is a light jedi that has a fondness for cobbled together things (his droid is a strange mix of R1 and R2 parts, his ship is a Z-95 extensively reconfigured into a shuttle, etc. etc.) This Rive is a Sith that maintains his lightsaber extensively and tries to keep it up to specs and dresses in standard black robes.))
Lord Invictus

((SO what? I'm going to have a dark-metal with yellow eyes and red lightsabered cyborg walking down the street preaching goodness and love  Razz  Just doesn't fit. Cool idea, but I can't involve myself without making a mockery of it.   Very Happy  ))
Rive Caedo

((Well the entire concept is meant to be a bit silly. Something different and fun.

I'd envision Mortalis as a dark-armored Gen'Dai with kind blue eyes that's sworn his near-eternal life to defending the Jedi Orde. He's seen the Order rise and fall over the centuries and this has somewhat disrupted him emotionally. He wears his black armor as a form of eternal grievance for the generations of Jedi friends he's seen live and die. He's gone to the Endor Jedi sanctuary specifically because he knows that Jedi come there only for meditation and vision quests - he knows that he'll probably never see the Jedi that come there again after they leave - so he'll never form attachments and need to deal with them passing on. Mortalis has seen too much death and never wants to see it again.

See? Direct contrasts to the sadistic, white-armored, red-eyed Mortalis devoted to killing endlessly.))
Lord Invictus

((OKay, but as long as you admit 1 thing. Mortalis has grey-black armor! It ain't white! But I can't name him "Darth Mortalis" since he's a Jedi.... what was his original name- I don't want to pull up my bio-... Akash something. Akash Nexter? No... Akash Nexker... I was close.  Smile  Sooo close. Yet then again, soooo far....  Very Happy  ))

Akash looked down the dimly lit hallway, his sad blue eyes looking hopelessly into the beyond ((  Laughing  yeah right)). His emotion engulfed his mind; sadness because of his misery and suffering, anger at why he had to endure time, and hopelessness about how he could survive more death. His heels dug into the stone and pulled up dirt.

But then he sensed some type of disturbance in the force. Far away... so far away. But it threatened him... threatened all here. His hands ran over his single blue blade and stroked it, almost grabbing. Finally, he pulled his out and ignited it, standing there with the dim light and looking around, fearful of what could attack. He shut it down and holstered it again, looking around before running through the hallways, looking for a superior to alert of his force sense.
Lord Vexen

(How would a Human Sith Lord fit into this? A Jedi master?)
Lord Lanik

((The mastermind behind this is gona give it a go wont be that bad been all over the different fations))

Jedi Master Addon Shin'Se sat in the dimly let mess hall of the landed Jedi Corvette on the Moon of Endor. He sipped his soup as he reflected on what had been happening. Since the ionic storm had struck, the Jedi had been reduced to using small glowlamps and small emergency generators to carry on daily life.  Addon accepted the inconvenience with no complaint, if the Force wished it, then it would happen no matter how he complained. He closed his eyes briefly letting the soothing waves of the quiet chatter in the large wash over him. He had not had much sleep the last few nights. Some of the more sensitive spieces of Jedi, noticeably the Bith and Sullustians, had been bleeding internaly duo to the storm and Addon's healing skills had been necessary to keep them alive. He smiled to himself. It was always mentally refreshing to help others, even if it was physicaly taxing.

"Master Shin'Se?" One of the older Padawan on the ship had come up from behind him.

"Yes, Padawan?" Addon answered as he finished neatly arranged his silverware to the side of his bowl.

"Healer Jorin asked for you assistance in the Med Center, one of the Bith will not slop bleeding," the Padawan said bowing his head.

Addon sighed tiredly as he stood. "Go tell him that I will be there shortly."

The Padawan nodded and walked towards the entrance of the mess hall. Addon finished his water and then followed.

((Heh, a calm tempered Jedi Healer is the most oppisit that I could come up with))
Lord Vexen

(Vexen is a Calm Tempered Sith Lord who kills everything in his path...opposite = Jedi Master with a hot head who protects everyone.)

Jedi Council Member Doran Vexen was sitting in the mess hall on the Jedi Corvette which was docked on the planet Endor. Doran did not like this ion storm. Doran and his padawan had come to this planet to wipe out a nest of gundarks that where attacking the ewoks, but before he could even get out there, the storm struck and grounded Doran. Suddenly a Jedi Knight came up behind him.

"Master Doran, the High Jedi council is schedueled for an emergency meeting within the hour. Our comm room is on a backup generator that will allow you to attend" said the Knight

"I'll be there soon" said Doran. But he was thinking "Great, I come here to get away from the life of the Council, and they still recall me back."
Rive Caedo

((Well I was worried I was going to get an abundance of Jedi playing Sith and not enough Sith playing Jedi - but apparently it's just the opposite so far! Smile ))

The hovercraft had set down in the woods - 20 meters  or so from the break in the treeline that separated the thick forest of Endor from the Jedi's clearing.

Some of the other Sith were still gathering their things and their plans. Rive was restless and knew that any plan would just break down as soon as they actually engaged the enemy - they had absolutely no reconnaissance on the Jedi outpost besides the fact that they knew the ship was still there. There could be fifty Jedi there or none.

Well, not none. Rive could definitely feel something out there alive and with a connection to the Force as he walked slowly among the trees approaching the clearing. As he approached the final tree before the clearing, he placed his back against its thick trunk and peered around it.

Yes, the corvette was still there. It had some resemblance to a Corellian blockade runner corvette, but was a bit wider. It also had a significant amount of moss growing over it giving it a slightly green tone - the Jedi had been here longer than the Sith, the Jedi's ship probably hadn't moved in nearly fifty years.

No Jedi outside. Rive wasn't sure if he'd be able to cross the nearly 200 meter clearing that separated the circle of trees from the Jedi vessel before being detected and intercepted... but he certainly wouldn't improve his odds by waiting. Rive moved around the tree and began to run towards the Jedi ship's entrance without the assistance of the force (that would magnify his presence and certainly give him away) - it'd take him about 40 seconds to reach the ship.

The clearing's terrain was a bit rougher than Rive expected. Maybe 50 seconds.

Darth Cious grinned sadistically, showing his gleaming white teeth. He jumped enthusiastically from the speeder, and moved next to the leader of the mission, Lord ((What's your Sith name Rive?)) who was looking over towards the corvette, clearly estimating something. Suddenly the man began to run towards the ship at an extraordinary speed, and Cious took off in pursuit, pulling his light whip from his belt as he did, cackling in glee at the thought of the Jedi he would soon kill. He ran his tongue over his teeth as his impatience got the better of him.
Rive Caedo

((For whatever reason (maybe it'll come up - probably not) Rive never took a separate Sith name. So "Lord Caedo" would be correct. He'd probably accept "Darth Caedo" too without protest, but it wouldn't be correct. Or "Rive" would still be just fine if you decide that Mirror Xander (Cious) is rather familiar with Mirror Rive.

Also, I suppose we'll assume that "his impatience got the better of him" indicates that Cious boosted his speed with the Force? In that case, the Jedi will certainly detect our approach beyond the mere glimmer that Akash (Mirror Mortalis) detected. But, it's still up to the Jedi to decide whether to defend the ship from the inside or to rush outside into the clearing to investigate.))

Rive felt one of the other Sith enter the clearing behind him, but didn't turn his head to check who. He needed to keep his eyes fixed on the ground in front of him. While maintaining minimal contact with the Force it was possible that he'd snag his foot on a root or trip over a rock if he didn't watch the terrain closely.

Unclipping his saber's hilt from his belt, Rive gripped the simple matte-black cylinder tightly. The design was ideal for speed and multi-handed maneuvers, but without a firm grip the smoothed finish of the weapon threatened to slip.
Xander Vos

As he and Caedo approached the Jedi's craft, Cious ignited his whip, sending crackling energy spraying into the air on various strands.
Dakoth

((can Dakoth play?))
Rive Caedo

((Absolutely - although it's just going to be a slaughterfest if Vexen, Mort, or Lanik don't post too, but - that could be fun too Wink ))

Nearing the Jedi ship, Rive spotted a somewhat rusty looking ladder that allowed the Jedi to access the roof for maintenance work.

Caedo clipped his carbon black lightsaber back on his belt. He was fairly sure he could jump to the craft's roof - it was long and wide, but only 2 or 3 decks tall. But, the ladder would be quieter and wouldn't require drawing on the Force.

Rive grimaced slightly at the grime on the first few rungs of the ladder before forcing himself to grab on and start climbing.
Lord Invictus

Having been put to duty as a guard by the leader due to his ominous senses, Akash patrolled the walls of the citadel. He trotted along the wall, strolled past an alarm system (of course, a simple bell), and was about to sit for a rest when a head appeared near the wall. It gradually rose and took it's form. It hadn't masked its presence. Mortalis could sense what it was; Sith.

Akash whacked the bell as quickly as his cyborg-self would allow, pulling out his blades. It was a Sith. For them- even despite the Jedi Code- there was no surrender. They had to be dispatched by any and all means. Akash charged at full speed, raising his blades back to smash down upon his foe.
Xander Vos

Cious pulled himself up the ladder behind Caedo, reaching the top as a Jedi charged his leader. He leapt forwards, entwining the Jedi's blade in his lightwhip, yanking hard, sending it out of the man's hand, the blade in the other hand cutting across quickly to slice through several of the metal strands of the whip.
Dakoth

((Oh boy oh boy... here it goes.  I'm a devilish little one Razz  ))

Bringing his darkly gleaming personal speeder to a halt, Grand Vizer Jeridan Shadow sneered approvingly through his deathly crimson lips.  All was going as he had forseen in meditation.  Already the echoes of battle could be heard upon the ramparts of the hastily erected Jedi Bastion.  Raising his glimmering star-enscribed cloak over his rather grotesque features, Shadow started forward, preferring to cover the remaining distance on foot, lest he be spotted by the obtrusive rumbling of the combustion engine he had been forced to install upon his prized speeder.

With only his icy blue eyes penetrating the veil of darkness raised by his silvered cowl, Darth Shadow quickened his pace towards the enraputringly foul stench of death on the horizon.
Rive Caedo

A careless swing of Cious's lightwhip caused Rive to jump back. Terrible weapons. Clumsy and random. That could work to the user's advantage, but it certainly didn't make things easy for their allies.
Lord Invictus

Akash quickly gripped and closed around the startled Darth Caedo's neck, knocking the wind out of him and sending him- perhaps only briefly- to his knees. Akash wielded his one, singular, curved green blade and pointed it elogantly at the two Sith, preferring to duel them both with his Makashi.

He stepped back, entering a defensive stance. His legs- and body, for that matter- spread out, prepared to parry his opponents' attacks.
Lord Vexen

Doran sat through the meeting, very bored. He wanted this to be over. After sitting for a while, the meeting was adjorned and Doran decided to take a walk outside.

When he exited the ship he noticed Akash fighting two Sith. Doran imediatly ignited his two green lightsabers and rushed to help him out.
Rive Caedo

Rive felt another presence and turned his hips, still kneeling, to see another Jedi walking up a rampway that led down from the ship's roof to the interior of the vessel.

Glad to get out of Cious's lightwhip's reach, Rive performed a low backflip to rise from his knees and face the new Jedi.
Xander Vos

Cious snarled, and rushed at the Jedi again, swining wildly at the Jedi's blade. The Jedi stepped back, drawing a shorter blade, a shoto, and used this to quickly counteract Cious' whip. Cious growled angrily at the countermeasure, and kicked out at the Jedi, who flipped backwards, out of reach. Cious shook his head impatiently. He'd never been one for fancy acrobatics.

Rushing forwards again, towards the other end of the roof to Caedo, he attack the Jedi ruthelessly, bringing his whip across from all angles to try and splinter the man's defense.
Lord Vexen

(I'm gonna say our two characters have a history Rive)

Doran stared at the face of this new sith. It was none other than his old nemisis, Darth Caedo. Doran smirked at his chance to finaly kill this man. "Darth Caedo, its been so long? What cesspool have you been hiding in?"
Rive Caedo

Rive didn't laugh or even smile, "Same one as you, Doran, by the looks of it."

With a flick of his wrist Rive reversed his grip on his lightsaber - holding it like a long dagger rather than a sword. Doran had shown a slight weakness trying to defend against this unconventional style in their last encounter.

Rive gestured upwards towards the raging ionic storm in the sky, "No one's going to swoop down to save you this time."
Lord Vexen

Doran looked at his style. "I learned from previous encounters. And besides, you know that I would have killed you had I not needed to protect my padawan. Now nothing is holding me back and you will pay for all you have done." Doran took a small glance down and saw Akesh was doing fine.

"Whats wrong Caedo, didn't think you could attack us without your little friend down there?"
Rive Caedo

Rive shook his head, "I know that if that gunship hadn't have shown up, you'd have failed to protect your whelp."

The clean-shaven Sith swung his lightsaber absentmindedly in small twirls. Cious was at the opposite end of the ship's roof engaged in a vicious lightsaber duel. Rive had never seen the purpose of it - the rapid aggressive blows. A single clean swipe with finesse could kill just as easily.

"And Doran, you flatter me. Do you really think that I initiated this attack?" Rive did smile now - slightly, "I, in fact, argued against it. We'll slaughter you - perhaps move this ship to our own base." Rive pressed down on the roof panels below him with his foot, emitting a small creaking sound, "If this old dust heap can take it."

Doran opened his mouth to respond, but Rive shook his finger at the Jedi and continued speaking, "And after that - the Jedi Order will send a shiny new ship to keep an eye on our two old garbage scowls on this backwater moon." the Sith stopped spinning his blade and eyed Doran Vexen closely.

((As opposed to regular Rive's "Maximum Scruffyness" - Mirror Rive shaves!  Razz ))
Lord Vexen

"You know that you cannot win Caedo. Not only have I grown stronger, but I am was also put onto the Jedi Council. You are now dealing with one of the best Jedi Guardians in the Order." with that, Doran lifted his finger and shot a bolt of Electrical Judgment at the Sith.

(Electrical Judgment and Force Lightning are very different)
Dakoth

"Thats not saying much, whelp."  Shadow's voice hissed, as he strode up next to  the struggling Caedo, who seemed to be under electrical Judgement.

In that instant, a single pallid hand shot forth from under his robes unleashing a devastating telekentic attack upon Doran, sending the Councilman careening backwards through the air and splaying into a makeshift barricade which creaked under the sudden pressure.

Calmly folding and discarding his opulent cloak, the Grand Vizer drew his twin sabers, masterfully clutching thier curved hilts as he prepared to begin using one of his favorite forms, Dun Moch.

"Come now, Jedi" Shadow grinned.  "Why Do you fear us?"

Bringing his two violet blades alight with a distinct snap-his, he stood at Caedo's side, who had now fully recovered.    "Is it because of all of your friends that we have slaughtered?"
Xander Vos

Cious continued his struggle against the Jedi, mindful of the added presence behind him of Shadow, one of the most powerful and cunning individuals in their order.

His dark lips split as he smirked at the hapless Jedi, "Nothing can save you now Jedi, all that you know is at an end."

He leapt forwards, locking his whip around the longer blade, and gripping the Jedi's other hand, which contained the shoto, with his own hand, before the Jedi could react. He spat in the man's face, forcing him to flinch, and in that instant, he ground his heel into the man's foot, causing him to yelp and lean back slightly. Yanking hard, Cious ripped the shoto from the man's grip, and flinging his whip away with his other hand, sending both it and the lightsaber tumbling over the edge of the craft. He would retrieve the whip later, but it was of no consequence.

The Jedi looked at him calmly, his chest heaving slightly, "If this is how I am to end, then I died valiantly." He closed his eyes, knowing there would be nothing he could do to stop the Sith.

Cious' smirk twisted into a gruesome imitation, "I shall enjoy this Jedi," he said, raising his blade. Suddenly, a splinter of energy cracked into his back, and he was sent shooting forwards, his eyes widening in surprise. The Jedi choked off his last breath - Cious had been pushed into him, the shoto impaling him - and Cious whirled around, breathing hard as he tenderly felt his shoulder where the blaster bolt had hit him. Standing behind him was a man dressed fully in armour, holding his rifle at his side.

"Who are you?! How dare you interupt me!" Cious screamed, furious at the man.

The man answered, his voice calm and steady, "I am Korus Zhett, Mandalore, and you have invaded a peaceful envoy. I will not allow you to harm these Jedi any further."

With that he drew a blade, which Cious suspected to be made of Mandalorian iron, and so impervious to his lightsaber, and stood at the ready, at peace with his surroundings, despite the savage ion storm that raged, and the two Sith and Jedi fighting some distance behind him.

"This is the last mistake you shall ever make, chakaar," Cious said, insulting the man in his own language.

Korus reached up, and with a hiss, discarded his helmet, allowing Cious to gaze upon his face, which merely smiled at him, calm and uncaring, "Gaze upon this face Sith, and know that this is the last you shall see."
