Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Princehttp://harry-potter-6--trailer.blogspot.com/
Looks fairly good so far. Unfortunately, its by the same guy that butchered OOTP.

The books are, in my opinion, some of the greatest ever, but not the best. However much I loved the book series, I'm disappointed by the movies. Movies 1 and 2 are very good, and even three was still great, but after that I began to lose hope in the Potter series. Movie number four skipped half the novel, turned it into a teenage love-themed book rather than the normal Potter-adventure, and ruined Yule Ball scene! I mean, in the middle of the normal scene Fred and George jump on stage and play electric guitars! I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the book....
Number five, while not being the best, seemed to be almost an apology for number four's.... awfulness. It seemed to follow the "somewhat close to the book" adventure themes of the first 3. I hope number 6 will be the same....

I like the darkness of this trailer and the last line at the end is great.

The main reason I'm looking forward to Movie 6 is because it's the only one that I think the new actor playing Dumbledore is the right actor to play the part. The new guy played him too aggressively, in my opinion, in 3-5 (especially 4). But 6 deserves that aggression.

I'm with Rive, Richard Harris couldn't have pulled off the duels like the new guy can. I think he was to old.

Alright, to summarize: you're wrong on almost everything you just said. Let me explain why.
1) Movies one and two were pretty bad. They were slow, childish, way too cheesy, etc. Although, to be fair, that's your opinion.
2) Movie Four - they obviously had to cut some elements out. There was absolutely no way they could include everything without making the movie four hours long, or probably much longer. As for a "teenage love-themed" movie, that's also again wrong. There were those elements, yes, because they were in the book! That's how it was written, and it was still absolutely a "Potter adventure".
3) And please point out where in the Goblet of Fire movie did Fred or George ever play guitar. They had a band of totally different people who were only in that part. Fred and George were at the ball dancing.

My views are similar to yours. I liked movies one and two, because they were true to the books. However, they were a little bit watered down it seemed, for the younger folk. The third was really good, the only major gripe I had with it is that we never actually learn who Moony, Wormtail, Padfoort, and Prongs are.
About the fourth movie, it was kind of dissapointing. They left out some stuff and the fact that we didn't get to see much of the World Cup was a huge dissapointment, I couldn't wait for Krum to use the Wronski Feint. However, it redeemed itself, the fourth was funny, true, and had the best ending of any of the Potter movies. All the tasks were well done to.
As a nitpick: I am still waiting for the return of Dobby! I was saddened that she wasn't in the fourth/fifth movies but I'm not judging the movies based on this...
The fifth movie was absolutely awful. Making the longest book the shortest movie seemed like a bad idea of from the getgo. It was just terrible and left so many stupid questions. Why were they riding broomsticks past a fracking muggle boat? Why was Hagrid's Tale so insignificant and short? Where the *bleep* was quidditch? Finally, way to give Cho justice. I guess they didn't have the time to do her character justice. Honestly, its like they decided they had to rush these movies because of the actors age!
Seriously, please get the act together and do these books justice!
As a sidenote: How are they going to do 2 parts for the last book? Its not like a lot happens to make two whole movies.

There are really huge events in the book that they will probably expand upon a bit.

This movie is already a fail, the only Harry Potter movie I enjoyed was the fifth one, and that's because it was nothing like the book. The others tried to hard to stick with it and Harry potter's true cheesiness showed itself then.
It's hard for me to look upon the HP series with excitement anymore, after the 4th book (Which was fantastic), it became a mix of Dawson's Creek, Charmed, and Generic Fantasy Story for kids.

I loved one and two because they stuck to the books, three I started to get a bit edgy, four and five just blew it.
Thank god the seventh is two movies so they won't have to cut anything out, they should have gone that way with all of them from 4 onwards, and I don't see why they didn't when it would have given them twice the revenue.

The new Dumbledore is moi fav Dumbledore. I like how he is aggressive
1 and 2 were my favorite...when they were the only ones out. They seem childish because Harry...was a child still.

I liked the old Dumbledore, he was far more 'Dumbledorish' than the new one.

Harry and crew were what - twelve? I think the first movie was probably the one truest to the book. The only element they held back on I'd say was the significance of unicorn blood. It seemed a much larger and more grizzly part of the plot in the book.
I wasn't aware they were making Book 7 into two movies. That doesn't really seem necessary to me. Good way for them to make one extra paycheck I suppose
At least John Williams is coming back for movie(s) 7.

Ga'nen

I think Nicholas Hooper and John Williams should do a collab on the music for both book seven movies. I really liked the music Hooper made for the fifth movie.

The first and second were a lot better than the subsequent Potter films. Harry is what, eleven? Of course its going to be childish, what do you want, Harry running around trying to hook up with Cho Chang?
I say they get rid of this scrub Yates, and bring back Chris Columbus, who did the first two movies. Also, its great to hear John Williams is coming back, I didn't know he was.
|
Ga'nen
|
I think Yates did a good job with Order of the Phoenix, he screwed up a few things but overall the movie was really good. I don't expect them to remake the book, that would be stupid to think because there are constraints on time. He screwed up on Sirius' death but he also gave Dumbledore and Voldemort an awesome fight. Plus he added the possession scene, which wasn't in the book but was really well played either way.

One thing that is a must for HBP is Slughorn...I hope he is in it. Another thing...I heard that Rufus Scrimgeour was gonna be played by Bill Nighly aka Davy Jones...I hope so.

That's how they should be. Forget making some stupid epic battle scenes, They were truest to the book, as upposed to the later movies which were, in my opinion, utter spoofs of the books.
Number 4 had the minor needed elements of romance, but it was kept to a limit in the book, allowing storyline expansion while pleasing those wanting a story like that. The movie basically thew aside story in exchange for romance.
| Quote: | | 3) And please point out where in the Goblet of Fire movie did Fred or George ever play guitar. They had a band of totally different people who were only in that part. Fred and George were at the ball dancing. |
At the Yule Ball some idiots jumped on stage and they made it heavy metal (it wasn't in the book! It BUTCHERED the movie!) music- awful, and not in any way comedic apart from randomness. They looked like Fred and George. Dang Irish.... lol. I'm kidding, of course.....
| Quote: | | As a sidenote: How are they going to do 2 parts for the last book? Its not like a lot happens to make two whole movies. |
I'm worried their going to drown the story in some stupid sub-plots made by the director for "enhancing the cinema experience".... ugh!
| Quote: | | As a nitpick: I am still waiting for the return of Dobby! I was saddened that she wasn't in the fourth/fifth movies but I'm not judging the movies based on this... |
I KNOW! Too late for that now, though. They also ignored SPEW, which was a huge part of Hermione's character. If they all the sudden put SPEW in there without explanation I'll just give up on them.[/quote]

I don't think the romance in Movie 4 was really over done. We seemed to get a lot more dragons than that. But yes, I did detest the ball scene as well. That's why DVD's have a fast forward button

Fans of the books are never going to be satisfied with the movies because there will always be something different from the books. This is because when you read the books you create your own images and thoughts and movies bring another image to life. But if you look at the movies as simply movies and not movie interpretations of books then they have been getting progressively better as simply movies. So you have to kind of look at them from both perspectives.

Vexan like got owned like , to the point where I even had to say it :O, and by Samuel to :O
Anyway I liked the look of the trailer, and I am looking forward to film, especially since Im trying to erase the sheer dissappointment of book 7, which I hope the 7th book goes to an unfaithful translation.
But moving it away from winter to summer is a bit weird, because loads of films come out in summer, while all the films in winter, I truly feel this would rake in the money, big time, percieved as a "kiddish film" , filling the void that LOTR trilogy has left as Winter film, check, and loads of rubbish horror films to cash in on halloween and christmas time, check, its probabbly a guaranteed sucess no matter the season, I just wish there'd have it released in Winter.

I've read a few things about the movie getting delayed and none of them seem to give a good reason why it was delayed. They've said things like "summer blockbuster spot" and that it will fit with the new Theme Park but nothing about production issues. Anybody know why?

Warner in need of a summer blockbuster?... Its a film studio, all they care about is money.

The reason why the 7th book is being split into two movies is because Rowling won't let them cut anything out. She told them that it's either two movies, or no movie at all. Apparently she can withstand cuts from the other movies, but not the climactic ending. Hopefully this doesn't backfire and people that haven't read the books, get really confused at what the f*ck everyone's talking about.
EDIT: I also heard that it was pushed back because Twilight was coming out on the same day, so they pushed it back so it wouldn't have to compete.

I read awhile back why the movie was delayed. It was something to do with a gap in movie premieres.. so ya. Plus with the Dark Knight cashcow they don't need to push it, specially since there re-releasing it. So in the end there delaying it because they want more money
so ya basically what Jaden said
