Favorite Obscure Star Wars Ship?

We had a thread like this a year ago that was accidently revived (and subsequently graveyarded). So I figured it was time for a new one.

With a bit of a twist this time: I want your favorite obscure Star Wars ship. So X-Wing isn't a very good answer. But "That little ship with the sail that Count Dooku used at the end of Episode II" (which is more accurately named a "Punworcca 116-class interstellar sloop" if you're interested Smile ) would be or any Expanded Universe exclusive ship.

So feel free to say your favorite Star Wars ship overall too, if it's a common one. But definitely give an obscure one too!

My common one would probably be the Imperial Lambda-class shuttle (Tydirium being the famous one).

My uncommon favorite ship of the moment would be the Skipray blastboat. I suppose I must like ships with moving parts, since both the Lambda-class shuttle and Skipray have parts that rotate up/around when landing Smile

Lord Vexen

My favorie EU ship is the Rouge Shadow

Other than that I would have to say the Tantive IV or the classic Imperial Star Destroyer since they are the first thing you see in ANH.
Xander Vos

I really like the Claw Craft of the Chiss in the EU; and the Sith Sphere.
Sirak Sazen

I think the B-Wing fighter from Return of the Jedi was pretty original looking. It's like having a flying cross come at you.
Lord Embeion

Xander Vos

Is that some sort of TIE hybrid?  Confused
Lord Embeion

No http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/VT-49_Decimator
Xander Vos

Ah, I see. Wow, odd vehicle. Confused
Rive Caedo

The decimator is probably one of the better things to come out of SWG. I always liked that circular bridge thing on the top.

I don't think I ever got a chance to walk around in one though. My Jedi was who I took up to ace pilot and he was Rebel. My Imperial Bounty Hunter never made it past basic TIE Fighters I think  Laughing
Dork of Mordork

Do Firesprays count? If so, that I guess. If not, then the same as Kyle.
Xander Vos

I dunno, the Firespray appears in a few of the movies doesn't it?
Rive Caedo

Firespray is a bit too mainstream only due to Boba Fett's popularity and its prominence in Episode II.

As for Kyle - he had two ships. Which do you mean?

He had the Moldy Crow

And then the Raven's Claw

Lord Embeion

The Firespray in SWG was so overrated but was so awesome. I never got Ace Imperial Pilot, I always went on my friends Decimator to farm loot off t4 spawn points. Was an awesome ship but I was in love with my Eta-2 from Darth Vader

I got my main up to like the end of t3 Imperial pilot and then I reset for Freelance(Rebel Smuggler) when I went Rebel (Was Imperial for nearly 4years). I never really went after Jedi pre-NGE. I just got the village skills because they helped in combat.. I didn't even PvP all that much.. Not until I started playing WoW. Thats what I miss about SWG.. Even though there wasn't really raids (although there was ina way) and the PvP was primitive without bases it was always fun (Badges ftw). Once I started getting into the PvP it was awesome, then they brought Restuss out which surged the kills. I do miss it but I came to terms with it never being like it was before. Plus the lag is terrible

Another one of my favorite SWG ships was the Black Sun/Krayt ships for freelance. The YT-2400 was a cool variant of the YT-1300(Falcon)

http://swg.wikia.com/wiki/Ship
Xander Vos

Ooh, I like the look of the Raven's Claw.
Rive Caedo

The freelance mid-tier ship (Kimogila?) was another nice looking design by the SWG artists. The YT-2400 however was a Shadows of the Empire design.
Xander Vos

The YT-1400 was Rendar's, no? I liked it, but much prefer the Falcon in terms of YT models.
Lord Embeion

Xander Vos wrote:

Nearly the same thing aren't they..
Xander Vos

Maybe I'm thinking a different YT then, isn't the 1400 the one with the cockpit out front and it's basically a tube?

Err, I never saw those in his post. Confused Am I missing something? This is what I saw:

Gah, since you didn't just say "Embeion" I assumed you meant Kyle Katarn  Razz

Yikes, we have like 3 separate problems here. The YT-2400 was indeed Dash Rendar's ship (and the design they used in SWG).  However the ship you're describing sounds like the YT-2000

The 2400 looked like this. Dash Rendars was called the Outrider.

Xander Vos

That's right, I was thinking of the top one.
Lord Embeion

The YT-2000 reminds me of the Decimator
Xander Vos

Rive Caedo wrote:

Perhaps Rendar's was more accurate? Wink
Rive Caedo

That's 3. Deliberate Smile

It's not a favorite, but it's a ship not many people have seen that I thought was pretty interesting. The Legacy-era TIE fighter.

Xander Vos

Oh bum, thought it wasn't. Wink

Caught it a bit late, but at least I caught it. Razz

That from the comics? Looks pretty cool. I still think they should bring in some original designs for a change... not everything has to be based off the X-Wing and TIE Fighter...
Lord Embeion

Twin Ion Engines is for lulz Xander
Everyone loves the lulz

Spoiler:

Ok, I agree that made no sense

Dork of Mordork

Technically Alex, if you want to be REALLY grammatical, you would have said:

If you're going to use the good old dotdotdots, remember that a space will indicate the end of a sentence (give or take one more dot, but I was taught that that isn't always necessary) or, if it isn't the end of sentence, DON'T ADD A SPACE.

If you really want that badge back, you'll have to take this seriously!  Wink
Lord Embeion

People and there anal grammar obsessions

DOWN WITH THE GRAMMAR POLICE! DOWN WITH THEM I SAY!
Anakin

Xander already mentioned this but, it is a beaut.

One of the more uh....creative ones...

*Notice the pixelated stormtrooper's head "painted" on the cockpit. xD
Darth Splinter

Holy crap!

That TIE crawler has a face!
Anakin

Yeah, Vader said it put fear in the hearts of Rebels to see a cheap face on the cockpit.

I think those count as an "implied I" situation and are still correct.

[citation needed] I think that's simply not true. There aren't any rules governing the use of an ellipsis in speech that I'm aware of. If you were using the "real" use of an ellipsis (to omit part of a quote) you'd want a space before AND after the ellipsis.

And, to stay on topic, here's another neat TIE fighter variant. I THOUGHT it was before y'alls time - since it was only in a single video game in 1995, but apparently it made a return in the Forces of Corruption expansion pack two years ago. Neat.

Haha, I realized that a lot of what I was saying probably wasn't true, but it was funny to get on his case. Razz It was meant to be taken as sarcasm this time, and I DID add a smiley. Razz
Anakin

Another unorthadox design by the Hapes Consortium.

Nova-Class Battle Cruiser
Xander Vos

Ooh pretty.

I thought they were meant to be discs though?
Anakin

What do you mean?
Rive Caedo

Xander Vos wrote:

I think you're thinking of the other Hapan ship that was mentioned in Carnage's post - the Battle Dragon.

Xander Vos

Ah yes, wow they look great!
Anakin

Such a odd design, I'm surprised their battle worthy.
Xander Vos

Hehe yeah, looks pretty flimsy.
Ga'nen

Those rotating guns are what make those Battle Dragons a good ship.

The good old Mon Calamari ship is one of my absolute favorites. The design is awesome and they are able to take a hit for a bit.
Xander Vos

Still... you take out those support struts and its goooone. Wink
Ga'nen

Yeah, but that's like taking the shields off a Mon Calamari or the recharging turbolasers off a Star destroyer. The Battle Dragons didn't have the current technology of the Galaxy (pre-Confederacy war) so they had to deal with their weapons not being able to fire so quickly by having them rotate around.
Xander Vos

Yeah but all an enemy has to do is target the struts. They're a weak point. The shielding on a Mon Cal cruiser aren't, they're a strong point.
Anakin

There only effective in large numbers. Plus, if you look at its size compared to a Star Destroyer, its very small.
Rive Caedo

I wonder if a Battle Dragon was capable of separating its top and bottom discs in an emergency? It certainly looks like it could easily have been designed with that in mind.

The idea being that if your drive core was growing unstable and threatening to explode - or a fire was spreading from the lower to the upper decks with no way to stop it - you could seperate and get away. They pulled the trick off in Star Trek a few times.

Set phasers on "absolutely" Wink

Although I'm not really interested in any of the Star Trek fandom "community" like I am Star Wars. So I'm not sure if the Trekkie label really applies.

I suppose I have gotten involved in two or three classic "Kirk versus Picard" debates over the past many years. That counts, I guess Razz

(Movie Kirk beats Movie Picard. Television picard beats Television Kirk.)
Anakin

Whats a Picard?
Rive Caedo

I'm not entitled to ramble on about something everyone knows.
Anakin

Oh....HIM!
Jiub

Between the Ebon Hawk and the ZCeptor. I don't know if you can count the Ebon Hawk, one of a kind, but famous.

ZCeptor
Rive Caedo

Ebon Hawk counts - it's an expanded universe exclusive ship.

I almost posted the Z'Ceptor earlier. But since every "ugly" combination ship is, by definition, unique - it's more of a type of ship than an actual ship.

Anyone who's been participating in the Without Sin series knows of my fondness for "uglies" - Rive (the character)'s droid is a combination of an R1 and an R2 droid and he (with help from one or two other characters) just finished producing an Imperial shuttlecraft with the lower wings replaced with two extra engines.
Xander Vos

Yeah, I've always liked uglies. They havent been around for a while now have they? Confused
Rive Caedo

They were mostly talked about in the old X-Wing series of books. Michael A. Stackpole carried them over into the Dark Tide books in the New Jedi Order.

Too bad Aaron Allston (the other X-Wing author) didn't use them in his Legacy books (to my and Wookieepedia's best knowledge).
Xander Vos

I think they've been mentioned in newish books, but I can't remember which. Coruscan Nights maybe?
Rive Caedo

I'd still call Dark Tide newish. But Wookieepedia doesn't mention anything newer than that, no.

I'll keep a look out for them as I finish up Twilight and edit Wookieepedia if they are mentioned  Very Happy

Arc Hammer

Not so effective in FoC, but interesting concept nontheless.
Rive Caedo

Wow, they put the Arc Hammer in FoC? I may need to buy that just to see all the old expanded universe references. The Arc Hammer was originally in Dark Forces (the first Kyle Katarn game).
Anakin

Yeah they did. I thought the Arc Hammer was exclusive to Empire at War, meh mistaken. In a space battle its really bad but if you have it one of your planet's orbits its brings you some good ground units.
Ga'nen

the Arc hammer's primary use was to be a movable construction facility.
Anakin

I never personally used it in a space battle in FoC but I heard just a couple of enemy ships could tear it down.

Heres Mitth’raw’nuruodo...*ahem* I mean Thrawn's beaut in Empire at War.

The Admonitor

One of my personal favorites in the upgraded Imperial space units in FoC.

But I kinda lose my respect for Thrawn in this picture.

Spoiler:

"It was the Eighties, a bad time in my life. The Empire was all over me dude."
