That's from a game...

Rive Caedo

Indeed, from one of the cutscenes in the game, I believe.
On the other hand. You actually can see Dash, briefly, in the Special Edition for Star Wars Episode IV. His ship anyway

Darth Splinter

Actually, if you look closely, you can Dash in this pic:
|
Rive Caedo

*GASP* How can he be doing THAT in a film rated PG? It's perverse!
Lucasfilm will be hearing from my lawyer.

LMAO! What can you say, the Empire has been crippled! Everybody celebrates differently.
|
Lord Invictus
|
I can't see him. Where is he?
|
Rive Caedo
|
You can't see him?
Alright, well you can see the two Rodians kicking the stormtrooper on the ground up front, right? You want to go past them (down the street that is) and a bit to the right. Now do you see that blueish grey Mon Calamari? Right behind him is Dash doing... unspeakable things.
Alternatively, you can understand that a wink usually means someone is joking
You can't make out a bloody thing in those crowds! But, that really is the Outrider flying away in the picture I posted.

Lord Invictus

GARGH! The image is too blurred to see what species anyone is. I can't see any rodians kicking a stormtrooper or a grey mon calamari

Yes. Yes it is. That's why I said that Splinter and I were JOKING, lol.
|
Lord Vexen
|
Well I can see the Rodians or whatever kicking something on the ground.
|
Adenn

screw it, I'll kill you splinter!

Darth Splinter

= joke
Ugh, I give up on you people.

Where?
|
Adenn

You know what I see? A star ship on top of the city.
Anyways, back on topic.
The only time I've ever heard of Dash Rendar was from the Star Wars books that include this boy and sister with their shape shifting uncle traveling in space.
|
Xander Vos
|
Oh those were cool. Tash and Zak should so appear in more books, they were pretty fun.
Would have been perfect for slightly older students in Young Jedi Knights...
|
Adenn

^Yeah! Those characters that I were putting my finger on. I think the books were called Star Wars:Galaxy of Fear or somethin like that.
|
Xander Vos
|
Yeah, that's right.
Dash is originally from Shadows of the Empire.
|
Darth Splinter

I read a few Galaxy of Fear books myself and really enjoyed them!
And their uncle was a Shi'ido by the name of Mammon Hoole. I'm almost certain he was an Anthropoligist of some sort.
|
Rive Caedo
|
Hoooooooooooole.
He was the guy I had in mind when I decided to make the bad guy in my series of roleplays a Shi'ido.
Apparently the only mention of him outside of the Galaxy of Fear series was his being the fictional in-universe author of the original Essential Guide to Alien Species.
I'm somewhat surprised that they've let characters like Tenel Ka, Zekk, and Tahiri rise to such prominence after they came from such humble beginnings in the "Young Jedi Knights" series. Even video game character Kyle Katarn gets a quick appearance in pretty much every book lately. But Mr. Hoole doesn't even get a nod in a single novel?

I know! He was awesome.
On the topic of Dash, apparently Steve Perry and his co-author whom I've forgotten have approached Del Rey about a book involving Dash, and haven't received a reply.
|
Sephiroth
|
Dash Rendar is a complete b**ch. That's the end of the topic.
|
Xander Vos
|
How so? He's awesome.
|
Sephiroth
|
Well let's see.....every game I played that had him or a mention of him just really overdid dialouge. Like in Shadows the game, "Oh I'm a bada** just because I got this cool ship. I'm gonna talk s**t to Han about his ship." Then the stuff I read about him just gave off the word "B**CH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
That's my $.02

He's only been in one game hasn't he?

I'm 90% sure you're correct.
|
Rive Caedo
|
He also made a non-canon appearance in the Galactic Battlegrounds RTS game back in 2002 or so.
"This is Dash, where do ya need me?"
But, I sort of agree with Leon. Dash seemed to me to be a toned down version of action heroes popular at the time, like Duke Nukem.
Both full of themselves, but also having the skills to back it up.
Comparison image in spoiler box due to them being large.

To me he always seemed to be a scaled up version of Han in terms of personality.

But Dash is a douche.
