Nathan Fillion (current star of Castle) played the captain of our beloved mid-bulk transport (classcode 03-K64, Firefly), Malcolm Reynolds. 
So here, for the Halloween episode of Castle, they let him dress up as his old character. "Didn't you wear that like five years ago?" (joke being, Fillion last played Reynolds in 2005). "So?" "Don't you think you should move on?" (Firefly's not coming back... probably) "I like it." (Fillion has repeatedly said he'd be ecstatic to play Reynolds again )
You watched Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog, right? He was Captain Hammer. 
The only other place I can think of you might have seen him is the rather recent film Waitress. I saw it for Fillion. It was surprisingly good. It was probably more fun to watch Andy Griffith in it than Fillion though

He also played the preacher during the seventh season of Buffy. I used to watch Castle during it's first season, but for some reason it slipped out of my attention span. | ||||

Quite right. Although I'd say "preacher" describes Caleb better than preacher. Or  preacher works too
They actually made a quick Buffy reference a few minutes after the Firefly opening in the linked episode. But that implies that Buffy exists in the Castleverse. Which implies that Castle (Nathan Fillion) could watch the episodes with Caleb (Nathan Fillion) in them

Yeah I always find those links confusing too, for instance when House references Jack Bauer from 24, or Grey's Anatomy, does that mean that if any of the cast from those shows guest starred in House, they'd have to play themselves?

International video is failing...
One of the most fun aspects of Halo: ODST was Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk effectively cloning their roles from Firefly (The Captain, the Tough Guy and the Pilot). Damn you FOX... And in relation to the previous discussion, the worst show for that is Entourage. Considering that people such as Jessica Alba, Jamie Lynn Siegler and James Cameron play themselves and Val Kilmer, Holly Valance and Leighton Meester playing other characters (With Kilmer being a particularly strange one, seen as Joel Schumacher's Batman is mentioned in one of the episodes) indicating that these actors don't exist in the Entourage-verse. |

That's not entirely too far off. Firefly's Reavers were basically zombies... IN SPACE.
And we all know zombies are less than 6 degrees away from vampires. Especially if that zombie happens to be Kevin Bacon. |
