Bored?

Tabula Rasa (Richard Garriot's last game) is completely free until they shut it down in late Feb.

Being an MMO I would never have joined but since it's free I am trying it out.

Think of it as a free trial for a month and no restrictions on anything, then not being able to go to the final product.
Darth Splinter

Meh.

Maybe I should lead by example and force you all with my mind powers to get WAR instead.

20 some classes are better than 10
Dork of Mordork

WAR?

Sorry. I'm not up to date with many MMOs. Just a few of the more popular (and a few of the surprisingly really fun Indie ones, such as Rappelz.) Hate all you want, but I'm a Guild Wars fan.

Warhammer online, hopefully (But not going to) replace WoW someday.
Dork of Mordork

Oh, oh Warhammer. Yeah, I know that one.
Lord Embeion

Sorry Scion but we play the real Warhammer.. so no need to play the MMO to. Anyway WTB SWG customization with over 1000 possibly mixes of talents and professions.  NOW THAT IS A CLASS

Hold me  Crying or Very sad
Dakoth

Warhammer online was the one where pvp took no skill iirc. Either way Embieon is doubly right, even if butterflies are OP
princessleia

I have never heard of Warhammer online....what is it about?
Lord Embeion

That would make absolutely no sense to a n00b.

You talk about skill but WoW is all about reading spreadsheets of spells and where your armor can take them.

Have you ever reached the lvl cap?Have you ever had an arena team 2kplus?Have you ever killed Kil'jaeden? If not you cannot say that WoW needs no skill.

You may insult Dakoth! BUT YOU SHALL NEVER INSULT THE WOW WHILE I'M AROUND! Kdone Very Happy
Scion

And Dakoth knows Warhammer takes no skill because he's got to the level cap and spent hours learning the ins and outs of WAR?
Dakoth

No, I know because the people who had spent hours hitting the level cap and mastering WoW to an eerily high pinnacle went to WAR for a month, mastered it, discovered it took no ability and came back to WoW.  Thats a long sentence.
Lord Embeion

So they can read spreadsheets, your point?
Ga'nen

From my experience Wow is not just spreadsheets, some of it is knowing the best way to equip your character but also some of the raids that one encounters aren't just, "stand there and hit". Some raids can be completely ruined if one person goes retarded.

That's the way the game is designed, Mythic designed WAR to not require raids to have 20 people, they max out at 8 I believe.

Besides, Warhammer was built on PvP, not PvE like WoW.
Dakoth

I dont know where you're getting all this spreadsheet stuff from, Dps flowcharts do one little good in an arena match
princessleia

Thanks for the link Lord Em...I will check it out..
Ga'nen

But raids with twenty people is very fun, last night the guild i am in did 25 man naxx and just putting a full group of good people together just makes the raid fun and the atmosphere even better. PVP is fun but WoW is designed for every player.
princessleia

ohhh okay....yeah I think that WoW looks very interesting.....how many raids have you had?
Scion

Have you ever looked at a strategy guide for a Blizzard game?  Half of it is graphs on how spells level up and different item and equipment set ups (Diablo, WoW).

And WoW is the only MMO to have gotten PvP right?

Who me?

I haven't been raiding very long but the raids I have done are very enjoyable.
princessleia

Yeah you Ga'nen....that is cool.....lots of action in them huh...
Sirak Sazen

Do you play WoW, princessleia?
princessleia

I would if I could (WoW)....eventually I will get the game on computer the new one is expensive...as for right now I don't...sighs and frowns... but maybe someday...Is it possible to play it online? Without the software downloaded onto the computer naturally.
Dakoth

You can't simply equate every fight in WoW to memorizing a DPS rotation and just going to town on it.  Raid encounters are very intricate affairs with ridiculous amounts of things going on at one time that everyone has to stay focused on.  I dare you to try and just stand still and just pound out a rotation on Sartharion 3 Drakes.  You need both knowledge of your class's dps mechanics and fine tuned skill to be successful.

/rant

Edit: by this point I've convinced myself that this guy is actually scion.

princessleia

So Dakoth, how many have you skillfully raided?
Ga'nen

Dakoth, have you done Sartharion with three drakes?
Jiub

I know people who play wow, and I would say that anyone who has been playing for a while have been on too many raids to count very easily. I've never played it myself, I played a little SWG a few years back, but that is about the extent of my MMO experience.
princessleia

Ga'an..Dakoth must be busy playing WoW...

Jiub...I was just curious......how far have you got in SWG or do you remember?
Lord Embeion

Geezus SWG.. good times. Sadly though SOE couldn't stop changing the game entirely to save there unborn child's life.
princessleia

Really Lord Embeion how is that?

I do love Yahtzee, very smart, barring Maddox the smartest person I have seen on the Internet.  I watch Yahtzee every week.

I just fail to see how memorizing DPS mechanics and this "skill" you speak of doesn't translate over to other MMO's as well.  I also have never said standing still is a good battle strategy.  (Mind you, I remember my 1 summer of playing, and all I did was play Battlegrounds  (I was rather terrible at it because *sigh* my gear wasn't good enough, but I realize standing still wasn't a good fighting position)).
Darth Thilus

Uck... Don't play WoW anymore. WotLK (w00tLK?) ruined it entirely for me. If I ever log on it is to roleplay on my Death Knight Taorok with The Ebon Holdies.

I'll probably only play Dawn of War II when it comes out in February until SW: ToR, when I will go nuts over that instead.

Now let's se who has got the highest amount of high-octane rubber solution in their forearm.

Ga'nen wrote:

Why yes, Ga'nen, yes I have.
Ga'nen

My guild hasn't managed to get its DPS capable of handling one drake, i couldn't imagine three drakes. -sigh- I know it's not my problem because I am healing just fine but some of our dps are still behind.
Darth Fectum

Hurgh, I'm an ISS worker...this is so boring.

Its a hard fight Smile
Ga'nen

Well, it is the toughest encounter in the game thus far. Smile But i'll be happy when we can get at least one drake. I want my Twilight Vanquisher title.
