A Jedi Lost

A Jedi lost, Chapter 1:

Staring out into the vast sky of Coruscant, watching the busy traffic pass by the Temple, Kit stood there just watching. He had on his dark brown Knight robes and his trusty brown robe with the hood up, concealing his face. After a few moments, he turned and headed back into the main hall of the Jedi Temple. It had been a few years since his time as padawan under Master Abba but yet still, something from that time haunted him to this day. His fight with that Dark Jedi had leave many wounds that had still yet to heal. He wondered what he meant be “the darkness yet to come”, what did he mean by that?

Padawans, Knights and a few younglings pass him by as he made his way to his quarters. Now a Knight, he still lived in such a small, cramped room, “how embarrassing...” he thought to himself. “I should have moved into a bigger room when I had the chance a few months ago...” He started thinking. “But I was away on a mission and didn’t have the time or chance to take it. What a shame, there was a nice little room just a few doors down from the training rooms, that would have been nice to have...” As Kit finished that thought, he arrived at the front of his room. He punched in his code to unlock the door and walked in.

The room was a bit dark but even with the lack of light, one could still notice that it was a mess of a room. Clothes were shattered all over his bed and spare saber parts covered his desk, he had let it decline into this from all his past missions and constant focus on his combat training. Despite that, he made no effort to clean it, “no time for that” He thought. “I need to get out of here”, he began, “I need to get some fresh air....and some new surroundings”, he finished as he made his way back into the main hall. As he headed towards the main entrance to the Temple, he heard a voice calling to him.

“Kit?, Kit.....is that....you?”, a woman’s voice said from behind him. Kit turned slowly toward her direction but did not look her in the face. It was the female Cather Jedi named Arlunia Lo. Kit had not seen her in some time, mainly because they were almost always out on missions from the Council at the same time. “Wow, is that you? You look a mess,....when’s the last time you shaved?”, Arlunia said with an eye brow rased. Kit cleared his throat and answered back, “Well, I...uh, I have been very busy of late” he began. “Too busy to clean yourself up? That’s very unlike you Kit. Usually you look much better than this. Is something wrong?” She continued.

“No, not at all,...just very busy. I’ve been in to archives the last few days and....”, Kit started to say before being cut out by Arlunia. “Ah, of course....burning the midnight oil, I see. Well, I’ve been down that road myself, it can be very easy sometimes to lose yourself in the great findings and knowledge of the old Masters...” She added. “Yes, it can. Well, I must go, there are many things that I have to do...”. “Oh, ok. Well, I don’t want to keep you from what you are off to do.” She continued, “But Kit, you should really clean up”. Kit nodded and gave a bit of a smile as he continued on his way out of the Temple.

As he made his way out to the front of the Temple, there was only one thought that came to his mind, “....I need a drink.

Chapter 2:

As Kit made his way through the streets of the grand galactic city, he decided to journey to a non-local bar; he didn’t want to run into any other Jedi while he was trying to relax. After getting off a shuttle he walked to a little spot tucked away down a back ally. As he walked in, he used the Force to make a sweep of the place; trying getting a sense of it. “Hmmmm....”, he said to himself while making his way to the bar keep. “This place isn’t the greatest but at least I’ll be able to have my drink in peace.”, he thought. Kit signaled the keep over and ordered a Corellian ale. As the keep began to pour it, he insisted that he made sure it was in a clean glass.

Taking a few sips of his drink, Kit’s mind started to wonder. He began to think of Arlunia, the Jedi that stopped he before leaving the Temple. She was a very interesting one, very quiet and reserved; an odd mix for a Cather. Most he had met over the years were very vocal but not her. She was different from other Jedi he knew in the Order. For one, she always like talking him and trained lot in the Temple’s conditioning room. Most Jedi would spend their time meditating or condition just enough to stay in shape but not her, she would stay in there for hours pushing herself to her limits. Kit liked that, it wasn’t everyday you saw a Jedi much less many of the female Jedi training that hard.

Just as hard as she conditioned, she trained in her combat skills. In some ways, he felt she was better than he was in focus but they seemed to be equal in strength with a blade. She used Djem So, Form V; a most aggressive style for someone that reserved. When it came to their command of the Force, Kit lead that one, she was a good blade but Kit had a much stronger connection to the Force. As he continued to drink, he caught himself smiling a bit while thinking about her; maybe there was something more going on then he lead on to believe. But no, Jedi are not to engage in such thoughts; it was forbidden. Still, she was very nice to him and was a knock out in the looks department, he thought to himself.

Kit finished his first drink then signaled for another; he was going to be here for awhile. He felt that he needed to rethink some things and find himself again. As he waited and then received his next drink, his thoughts then shifted to another issue. Over the last few years, something had been picking at him but he didn’t know what exactly. Ever since his fight on Dxun, he had second thoughts about his place in the Order and with himself. Even with all his training and skill, he was still defeated.....and quite handedly at that. There he was, a soon to be Knight at the time and some Dark Adapt took he out without even breaking a sweat. “How was that even possible?”, Kit thought, “He moved like the wind and attacked like a wild Zakkeg...”, he thought as he finished another sip of his drink.

Since then, he had spent almost everyday in the Jedi archives studying all that he could about the Darkside and other powerful abilities in the Force. When he wasn’t doing that, he was pushing himself harder and harder in the training rooms; almost to the point of injury. He kept trying to get stronger, better, faster.....much sharper in combat and the Force. He never wanted to be put in another situation like that again, he never wanted to be completely out matched against a darksider if he were to run into one a mission. By now, Kit had been gone for sometime, he had only had two drinks but that wasn’t important, clearing his mind and sorting some things out was the main reason for getting out of the Temple.

He felt it was time to head back, besides, he could use a good shave and a long hot shower. He gave the keep a good tip and walk toward the entrance of the bar, then out to the street. As he made his way on to the streets, he felt a blunt poke into his back. “Don’t move.....Jedi”, he heard from behind him as well the unclipping and removal of his saber. “You won’t be needing this...”, the cold-harsh voice continued. Kit knew almost right a way what was going on; Bounty Hunter.....and a damn good one too. He didn’t even notice him following, who ever this guy was, he was your run-of-the-mill Bounty Hunter.

Kit felt another blunt stab of the blaster into his back. “Move....”, the Bounty Hunter said as they man their way forward, deeper into the crowded streets of Coruscant. Kit once again found himself in another bad situation, completely off-guard and on his own. He rolled his eyes and sighed as he walked through the crowd, “All I wanted was a drink....”.

Chapter 3:

As they made their way through the crowded streets of Coruscant, Kit was already thinking of ways to get out of his situation. First, he would have to get the Bounty Hunter to lose his focus for a split second to get his saber back as well as some distance to mount a defensive stand. Next and most important, he would have to get the crowd of people out of harms way; he highly doubted the Bounty Hunter was just going to let he “walk away” without a fight. Before doing all of that, he was going to have to find out why the Bounty Hunter wanted him so badly; badly enough to track him all the way down on such a well-covered Jedi planet.

He decided to make conversation, maybe he could get something out of him. “So....you ah, come here often?” Kit said an eye brow raised. Feeling another stinging blow from the blaster was all the answer he got in return. “Ok....I’ll take that as a no...”, Kit continued. “Just shut up and keep walking....”, the Bounty Hunter added. “Look, I just want to know what this is all about? I mean you track me down, lead off to I don’t know where and on top of all of that, you keep hitting me with that gun of yours.....”, Kit replies. “The least you could do is give some type of answer.....or, I could keep talking?”, Kit says with a silly grin on his face.

After giving a displeasing grunt, the Hunter started to talk to quiet Kit up. “All I know is that you have a few fans out there Jedi and they are willing to pay top credits for you.”, The Hunter starts, “They also wanted you alive....or I would have taken you out a long time ago.”. “Hmmmm, I see...”, Kit adds in, “Well, it would seem I’ve caught someone’s attention but who? I haven’t pissed that many people off in the last two months,.....have I?”. The Bounty Hunter let out a bit of a laugh after that one, “You seem to make friends quite easily, huh Jedi?”. Sensing the Hunter was distracted enough, Kit decided now was the time to make his move.

With in a blink of an eye, Kit gave a good elbow to the gut then a bash to the head; sending the Hunter flying to the ground. While he was down, Kit called upon the Force to draw his weapon from the Hunter’s belt and back into his hands; igniting it in the process. In the chaos of the sneak attack, the crowd around the two ran off in fear of being hurt; the sound of his lightsaber didn’t help either.

Sensing the crowd around him clearing out, Kit could now focus on the Hunter without fear of people getting in the way. The Bounty Hunter came to his feet and aimed his blaster at Kit. “That was a very stupid move Jedi, I was just going to deliver you to my employer alive but now I’m going to have to ship back you to them piece by piece...”, He added. “Awwww, I’m sorry,...did I ruin your perfect little day....”, Kit said with big smile on his face. While putting Kit in his blaster sights, the Hunter only answered, “....I’m gonna make you eat those words Jedi.”.

The Bounty Hunter stood there, in his battle-beaten armor and mask, staring back at the Jedi; who was staring right back at him in a defensive-neutral stance. Without warning the Hunter let out a rain of blaster-fire, to which Kit deflected with ease. While deflecting shots, Kit re-deflected a few right back at the Hunter, causing him to have to dodge and seek cover. Just as the Hunter was close to safety, he shockingly, changed direction and headed straight for Kit. Taken back by such a move, Kit tried to sense what he was up to. He throw his blaster aside then switched on energy shields from his gauntlets; deflecting the remainder of the blaster-fire Kit was re-deflecting. As the Hunter ran at Kit at full speed, he sprung to razor-sharp daggers from his wrists.

Now Kit was facing a more deadly threat than a Bounty Hunter’s blaster. Kit quickly switched from his Shii-Cho form to Makashi; giving him an advantage over his two blades and shields while at the same time, making him use as little of energy as possible. The Hunter made a stab at him but Kit parried it away, then another then another. The Hunter was striking to kill but seemed to lack the ability to do so; he was going up against someone who had trained their whole life to wield a weapon as if it was a part of himself. No matter what the Hunter would try to do, he would find it very hard to defeat Kit. It was quite obvious that the blades were of cortosis weaving and were specially made for saber encounters. This Bounty Hunter was the real deal, he must have planned for this meeting for sometime to make a bold move like this and with such custom weaponry. He was coming at Kit with a odd but very aggressive attack style the was using both the daggers and energy shields as offence as well as for defense.

Kit had no desire to kill the Bounty Hunter but he was leaving him no choice but to take the chance of disarming him....permanently. As the Hunter attacked once more, Kit performed Cho sun on the right arm of the Hunter, sending the now detached arm fly through the air, the Hunter let out a yell of pain. Just as quickly, he then used the sides of his blade to immobilize the Bounty Hunter by cutting into his remaining limbs. Now laying on the ground, defeated, Kit deactivated his saber and waited for the local authorities to arrest him. It would seem his long night was over but not the threat to his life; he knew he would have to look into this a bit more to uncover the truth.

After reporting what had happened to him, Kit finally made his way back to the Jedi Temple for the night.

Chapter 4:

After riding a shuttle back to the Temple, Kit made his way into the main hall. After what turned out to be a very long night, all Kit wanted to do was clean up and go to sleep. Of course, Kit knew things would not be that easily; the Council would surely want a word with him about the events that took place outside the bar. As he was coming close to his room, he noticed two figures standing in the way. The individuals blocking the way where no other than Abba and Master Koras Aldamar; Kit sighed as the two confronted him.

“Trouble seems to draw to you like Mynocks to a power cable...”, Koras started with his arms crossed and a displeased look on his face. Kit rolled his eyes while coming to a stop in front him. “Kit, are you all right?” Abba cut in; trying to change the subject. “I’m fine, nothing I couldn’t handle....”, he said with the hood from his robes still covering most of his face. “What happened?, why was a Bounty Hunter attacking you in the middle of a busy street?”, Aldamar continued. “I don’t know. He say some people paid him to find me and bring me back to them”, Kit added. Aldamar and Abba turned and looked at one another for a moment, then turned back to Kit.

“Do you know why someone would be looking for you?”, Aldamar began again. Kit shook his head in disagreement. “Well..., this is very disturbing Kit, the Council will have to discuss recent events but we will need to talk to you further about this....“Bounty” on your head”, Kit nodded and made his way to his room. Aldamar and Abba turned and headed back to the Council chambers to relay the new information they had gained from Kit.

The next day, Kit was summoned to the Council chambers to meet before the Council. After a long and detailed discussion, Kit was assigned to look further into the Bounty and report back on his findings. Before leaving the room, it was brought to his attention that there had been some recent activity going on Tatooine; it might have something to do with his encounter on Coruscant. Kit decided to take some time to finish his training in Makashi before leaving, with his training completed, he would be ready for anything attack on his mission. When he was finally done, Kit gathered some things then made his way to the Temple’s hanger bay to his ship. He would make way to the desert planet Tatooine for more clues; if there were any to find.

Chapter 5:

Kit came into orbit and then landed in the dock just outside Anchorhead. Kit hopped out of his ship and made his way into town. As he made his way into the town, he was came upon two figures wearing in all black, standing in the middle of the dusty road. One of the figures stepped forward and engaged Kit. “Greetings Master Jedi, I see you have made your way safely here....”, the soft-voiced woman said. “We know all about you Jedi, we have been watching you for some time now”, she finished. Kit looked at both of the figures and could sense a dark-taint in them.

The woman sensed an uneasiness in Kit. “I’m sure you have many questions and they will be answered when you come with us”.Knowing he was out numbered, Kit decided not to mount a defense; instead, find out all that he can about these dark figures. “We should leave now, we have much to discuss with you...”, the woman said as she turned and headed back to her ship, closely followed by the other figure. “Of course, you may follow in your own ship...”, she added. Kit nodded, and made his way back to his fighter. Once abroad, the woman sent Kit a set of coordinates. The two ships headed to orbit then in a flash, blasted off into hyperspace.

After much travel, they dropped out of hyperspace just outside of a planet that he had never seen before. He followed the ship of the dark figures down to the surface. Kit left his ship and headed over to the other ship. As the figures came out and stood in front of Kit, the woman began to talk. “Welcome to a place rarely seen by outsiders....”, she started; walking past Kit, “The planet of Ziost....the true home of the Sith”, she finished. Kit looked up and saw large, frozen mountains in the gloomy sky. “Lovely view....”, Kit said with a bit of sarcasm in his voice, as he followed behind.

The two lead Kit up to the huge and ghostly-looking citadel at one of the highest peaks. Once inside, Kit was brought before another person. The person was a man with a pale look about him, his eyes a glowing yellow. “Welcome, we finally meet....”, the man said as he sat in chair, it what looked like an old Council room. Kit calmly walked over to the man. “You seem to have me at a disadvantage, you know about me but I know nothing about you”, Kit said back. The man waved his right hand and one of the figures from the ship stepped forward and removed his hood.

The man looked at Kit with red burning eyes; the darkside seemly pouring off of him. “I believe you have already met my friend here before....”, the man in the chair said. “He was the one who attacked you in the tomb on Dxun”. The man slowly nodded, then step to Kit and spoke. “My name is Jazen Lysscol”, he then turned and returned to the side on the seated man. “I am Mako Hesas, the head of this academy”, the seated man said as he waved his other hand; signaling the other figure over to Kit. “This is Renci Masu-ka, my closest advisor. She has...way with the dark arts”, he continued.

“I have brought you here to join us, we could use a man like you....and your...talents”, Mako said to Kit. Confused, Kit looked back to Hesas. “Let me get this straight, you tried to kill me.....only to ask to join you?”, he said with an eye brow raised. Hesas chuckled under his breathe a bit, “You misunderstand, we were merely testing you,...to see if we were right about you...”. “And....”, Kit added. “We were very pleased with your performance”, Mako said with a bit of a smile on his face. “How did you know...”, Kit started to say. “We were watching or should I say, Renci was. She informed us of your encounter with our hired hand”, Mako cut in.

“So, you planned all of this?”, Kit said back to Hesas. “Yes, not the fight, that was a bit of a bonus but we did send the Bounty Hunter after you. Don’t worry, we already knew that she would be no match for you. The fact that you took her down so quickly was what caught our eye”, Mako finished. “She?” Kit answered back. “Yes, she was a Hunter we found some time ago on the mid-rim. She had a small amount of Force-sensitivity, we taught her how to use it to enhance her skills but of course, she was still no match for someone of your calabur....”, Hesas added.

Before Kit could ask anymore questions, Jazen whispered something in Hesas’s ears and he left the chamber with Jazen close by his side. Renci then made her way over to Kit. “I’m sure you still have many questions Master Jedi but our master has many things to do. Shall I show you around?”, she began. Kit nodded and walked with her through the halls. She brought him over to one of the training rooms, where two dark adapts were dueling. “As you can see, we are few but will soon grew into a most formidable foe in the galaxy...”, she said as they watched. She then, lead him to one of the great chambers in the citadel. “This is one of the many libraries we have found and have learned a great deal from, you will spend much time here”, she continued.

She then lead him to his new quarters. “You may stay here, I hope these quarters will suit you quite fine”, Renci said to Kit as he walked in. He looked around and looked back to Renci. “This will do fine”, Kit answered back. Kit then looked at Renci as she stood there, she had a medium build and a slender figure. She looked to be a bit shorter than Kit, around 5' 7" or 5'8" and wore all black robes with the hood down; it seemed like it was made customly to covering her eyes from view. He noticed that she, unlike everyone else in the academy, did not wear a saber on her belt.

“You should get some rest soon, you have a long day ahead of you tomorrow...”, She said as turned to head down the hall. Before she left, Kit asked if there was somewhere he could use to fix or build things near by, to which she told him that there was a work bench already in his room; towards the back end of it. He then requested that some of his things from his fighter be brought to his room. She nodded and said one last thing before leaving. “There are some clothes in the closet, you might want to change before your meeting with Master Hesas in the morning.”

With that, she walked away; leaving Kit in his new surroundings. He wanted to know more about what was going on but now he found himself in the thick of it. If he were to find out more, he would have to play the part and dig a little deeper. There was so many questions but so few answers.

After awhile, a young man showed up with Kit’s things and then left. Kit looked at his old beat up saber, he had used it since he was a padawan with Master Abba. He had felt for some time that he needed to build a new one; to better use his Makashi fighting style. He unwrapped his belongings, mostly saber parts from his room in the Temple and headed to the bench at the back of the room. “I was going to do this later but I guess I have plenty of time to do it now...”, Kit said to himself.

He spent the next few hours constructing a new saber of an old design from the achieves he had studied while in the Temple. He wanted a rarely seen one that the masters of old had use with such grace and skill. To enhance his new blade’s abilities, Kit would add two crystals he had found in his travels on past missions into the hilt. One was a Kasha crystal that was known for its calming affects on a person’s mind; even in tense situations and the other was a Lorrian gemstone, which boosted a person’s defense abilities as well as deflecting blaster bolts. For the last crystal, he would switch from a green hue to a purple one; he had wanted one since it was his favorite color.

Once he was done, Kit raised his new saber, looking over its curved-hilt design. He then unclipped his old one and tossed it onto his bed. Igniting his new blade for the first time, Kit twirled and spun his new saber around a bit, then deactivated it. The only words that came to his lips were: “...feels good.”
