9/11: Where Were You?People say everyone in America (that was old enough) can remember where they were when 9/11 happened. Where were you?
I was in first grade. The 7th grade - which was the highest grade in our school - often did reports on current events and would watch the news. The 7th grade teacher came over to our door with tears in her eyes and told my teacher what happened. None of us could hear what they were saying. Our assistant teacher turned the TV in our classroom away from us and watched the news. Again - none of us knew what was going on. They eventually sent everyone home early. I remember watching the plane his the South Tower on the news in my house. Didn't make much sense to a 7-year-old.
That's my story. Didn't know until a few years later what really went down and that the Twin Towers weren't the only things attacked.

4th grade. Sister Piere brought in the TV and both of the 4th grade classes watched the news for 5 hours. Stupid Bush reading to kids
I remember mostly every minute since it was the day before my birthday. Not the best birthday I've had
It's like Pearl Harbor for our grand parents and JFK for our parents

School went on normally, unbelievably. No kids were sent home, and I never really understood about 9/11 until...3-4 years later. I think I was in Kindergarten, was 6 years old.

I was (message scrambled)
I do remember telling someone asking if I was concerned about our present location being attacked (since this was after it was clear more than just the towers had been attacked). I responded rather calmly that there were hundreds of targets with higher priority than our location - so if we got hit then everything was going to hell anyway.
It takes a lot to shake me from my logical foundations.

Ok well that scrapes off a couple of possible Rive Locations.
He's not the white house greenskeeper, nor is he a transformer posing as the golden gate bridge.
Personally I heard basically a lot of wtf-ism about it in school, and didn't realize what actually happened until I got home. Heck, I wasn't even convinced anything happened until I saw the news. It was such a beautiful day outside though.

I was at home eating cheerios until me dear ol' mum came in the house and said that planes just flew into the Twin Towers. Pretty shocking.

I was building a ladder to Heaven because one of my friends died with a coupon for unlimited candy for a day at the local candy shop. We were trying to go to Heaven to get the coupon from him.
Turns out he hid it in a lockbox. Jerk didn't even tell us.

I woke up the following morning (it happened about 2am local time) and my parents were watching tv and I had no idea what had happened. I was in 4th grade at the time.
Mum was scared while driving us to school because driving across the Harbour Bridge - perhaps one of the most recognisable icons of Australia - she was worried about an attack occuring here.

Doin' your mom.
Actually I was colouring in some shizzle at my primary school (ages 5-11) and I was annoyed cause they made us all go into the hall and watch you get pwned. I wanted to carry on colouring!

I'm about to make a very ignorant comment, so please excuse me.
I never knew Australia kept up with USA news, and why you guys would be worried.

Are... you joking? 9/11. Was HUGE around the world. It was shown 24/7 on Aussie tvs for pretty much the entire week.
Um... we're one of your allies, you know, when you go to war, we support you and send troops. If they were attacking America they could strike at Britain, Australia etc. sure Mum's fear may have been irrational, but the morning after three jumbos were flown into the Twin Towers, you can excuse her.

Like I said, pretty ignorant. I've been Americanized and white washed pretty much my whole life, so I thought whatever happens in America only America knows/is concerned about. =x

I spent most of that year in a trench between Baghdad and Kuwait. (Very few might get this reference)

Is that 007 in Casino Royale?
Really Adden? Most people who are Americanized thinks the sun shines out of their behinds and that everything that happens in America is of vital important everywhere else.

I'm a US citizen, and I recognize that the world was watching on 9/11...
Anyway, Australia is GREAT when it comes to supporting the US. They are one of the few nations who fight in Afghanistan (and Iraq???) alongside the US (there are many nations who gave troops to the cause, but many won't allow them to fight; this is cowardly and traitorous to alliances... note: I'm mad at the nations who did this, but I believe the troops they themselves put in Iraq/Afghanistan are heroic... but the statesmen =/= the soldier).

Yep, we're in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not sure if we're still in Iraq as Rudd may have begun to withdraw troops, but we're definately still in Afghanistan.

Well, I guess that makes me de-Americanized then.

I was in second grade. I honestly have ZERO remembrance of that day.
It is a shame the souls who died that day are used by politrickians in this country to justify military intervention across the world.
