So lets disscuss what makes a good rp.

A good roleplay takes more than one element to succed I think.

It definitely needs a plot, something to keep people interested. The creator need not have complete iron fisted control over it, but they should at least know where it is going.

I think it also helps tremendously when you have the roleplayers acknowledging eachothers posts and interacting, rather than just going off and doing thier own thing.

You have to quickly progress from the "setup" to the "somethings happening!1!11!" phase as well, I think its during that little transition where most people up and leave.

I wasn't around for Dagobah so I wouldn't know. All I do knows is I wants to rp.

Someone should just post a broad RP topic(and not just SW) and we build off of it, with said elements in play of course.

Dagobah was more spam than substance, looking back. I think the without sin series is a very good example of how to run a roleplay correctly though. Of course none of us are rive, so sadfase.

Was just thinking that Daky (new nickname, roll with it) that Rive is the master of a good RP. Even when joining in someone else's RP he'd always help sustain it, like my Invasion of Coruscant RP that was created during a spurt of activity.

Well than who can do all of that?
And your right, people need to inter act with each other but a lot of the problem lies in when people post a lot, they get lost.
So I have a great idea.

NO ONE wants to go through and read EVERY SINGLE post made by other people, but they want to find out whats going on.

How about we start an RP Update thread, to keep every one up to date on whats going on? More RP's will survive I think.

So you mean give people who haven't been on for a little while a quick way to catch up? That could work, perhaps updating the first post in an RP discussion thread with a little "The story so far" segment every few days.

Well 90 pages is pretty good. Yes! Start a "Whats going on..." Every few days. That way people can keep interacting and every one's up to date! I mean, thats what we should use the disscussion thread for. So the next major RP started will have in the disscussion thread "Update [insert name of RP here]"
